Picture this: You fly to New York City with a friend and get VIP treatment while on your way to see George Clooney for a late-night interview.
Afterward, you hit the red carpet with the hunky bachelor for his film. Then, you chat with the actor about life, laugh at each other's hilarious jokes and compare your wacky faces, ultimately leading to the two of you falling in love with each other. Sigh.
Well, (almost) all of that could totally happen! And if it did, it would only cost you $10...and a lot of luck.

With a $10 donation (which goes toward benefiting The Satellite Sentinel Project), a fan is automatically entered to spend the day with Clooney. The winner will fly to New York City on Feb. 4 and "hang with George Clooney backstage at Letterman, ride up in a limo and walk the red carpet at the Monuments Men premiere, and a whole lot more," according to the website.
The Satellite Sentinel Project conducts monitoring of the border between Sudan and South Sudan as well as hot spots within Sudan to identify potential threats to civilians, and detect, deter, and document war crimes and crimes against humanity, a cause Clooney has been very openly passionate about.

The contest is being held by Omaze charity, famous for giving anyone the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences that also support social missions.

I consider it a donation, I never win. But it is for SSP so I can donate.

Oh yeah me too. I also donate directly to the satellite, aside form this contest. But was surprised to see that they ramp up the ante for the richer ppl by giving the opportunity to them basically.

I have never won anything like this either and its really because of the odds. the more entries you have in it, the better.

Nah, won't go for it. I have nothing to wear so if I did win then that $10 donation would end up costing a LOT more as I tried to buy something acceptable to wear!

Plus did anyone see the comments on the site from the gal who years ago won a similar type of thing with Kevin Costner? She said it ended up being a nightmare!

That's exactly what I wanted to say too. I didn't know they do another premier before Berlin. Can we consider the one in NY as a "worldpremier" for the Berlinale they say "international Premier".

Well how did that happen?

I thought I'd give it a go ... but I should be up to my gunnels in work at that time ...So this may act as a "carrot" ... "The George Clooney Carrot"... or stick don't mind stick.   

Then I saw the "Spend a day at Downton Abbey" in aid of the Philippines Relief ...
My Autie would love that (me too) ... so in the basket...

Then I saw "Ride a tank with Arnie" somehow not such an appealing idea,  luckily I stopped!

I have narrowly missed being in a tank with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

However, I am now in with a shout for a ride in a Limo with Mr Clooney.

I entered today! The site I used [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] had other "gifts" you could attach to your donation. One was a signed card to go with flowers, T shirts, and MM item in a WW2 knapsack! Not sure how good the gifts would be but the more you "donate" the more chances of meeting our beloved and the price went down the more you did?? But seemed ok with the pad lock on the line. Anyone else had a different site experience?

Have you found something to wear for your dream date yet ?

Well, today i wore one of my fav summer dresses turned winter dress. Its a shimmering little number in red(beautiful sun dress really) and the knit top I wore under it had the stripes thus: Grey with Fuschia, grey, flame red, grey, dark red, grey, pink and back to the same pattern. But its such a pretty knit that it gos so well with that red dress.

And you'd have to know it was a separate 2 pieces. many complimented it. I went to the store and a few places. My jacket I left open enough for ppl to see how it looked.

Some looked and stared at me as if trying to figure out how old I am. lol Its a bit daring as a fashion statement... hehehehe But I love to work with colors and simple styles. Looks good to me...    

Red carpets tho...I have made some wedding dresses before and those were very lovely and beautiful. My own patterns and styles. Guess I could try to make a couple for these events... My sisters still have their dresses. Trying to keep them for a daughter or grand daughter, niece. So many of those in the family now getting married. I can't afford to buy that much material to make dresses for them. I had the money back when I made my sister's dresses. But some will pass down and around the dresses I have made. they are still very lovely and wearable.

I am not sure about investing that much money, time and energy into it tho. might be a waster. But maybe I can luck out and get cheaper materials. that would help. Its how it looks in the end that matters.

@Joanie, you sound very talented.  I have a good friend who shares your talent....

She "up-cycles"  in othere words visit 2 or 3 charity shops find 2 or 3 garments, curtains, scarves whatever and put's a piece together... sometimes she is lucky and finds one piece  she just alters or toally changes.  In her house she has a room full of finds, most ppl would call it rubbish she calls them "tomorrows gems"  She is constantly complimented on her style!...

I don't have the imagination, but it sounds like you do...

Like Lorna said, it would cost a lot on the woman's end to attend. Only women of means would be able to dress appropriately.

Don't wear makeup anymore (and I used to be the makeup Queen). Used to turn heads, but not anymore, and not about to use botox, even if I could afford it. And I keep my boobs where they belong--behind closed doors. Haha. Not his type.

Unreal. I supposed there are *those* fans who are psychotic...but I think this is probably a way for George to back out after he sees the lady. Unattractive ladies would pose a "viable threat" to George's image...haha.

I think the rules are pretty fair, actually. To pick another 'ticket' out of the 'hat' cos the first winner couldn't make sounds okay, and I can understand why you wouldn't want a possible nutter trying to destroy or impede the benefactor i e Satellite Sentinel Project. of all the funds raised. Not sure that they're referring to Our Hero as the benefactor........
