"While working on Tuesday and Thursday, Talia had her own trailer, where she waited between scenes; and she and her mother were accompanied by an escort.
“Someone would come over and say, ‘Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?’ and one time, Talia said, ‘Maybe some popcorn,’” said Rachel Akiva. “So the person said something about popcorn into a headset, and then minutes later, popcorn appeared. I was like, 'Huh, a girl could get used to this.' It was just surreal. Surreal has been the word of the week.”

George, I'd like some popcorn please!!!! Thank you!!

This is the IMDb page for Jennifer Ehle who, according to Merlin's post, is supposed to be playing George's wife. Ms. Ehle's page doesn't say anything about IOM, but in the trivia part, she played his girlfriend in Michael Clayton, but ended up on the editing room floor. George sent an apology letter to her. What a guy!!!! But, if one scene has already been cut with her in IOM, maybe that's why she's not listed?

George Clooney Movie Films in Clawson Today

Crowds come out for a glimpse of the star in town to shoot the political drama 'The Ides of March' along 14 Mile Road.

Clawson is abuzz with Hollywood fever today as movie stars George Clooney, Ryan Gosling and Evan Rachel Wood and crew arrived in town to film scenes for their new film, The Ides of March.

Crowds gathered outside Nick's Country Oven and the Oak Professional Center on 14 Mile Road east of Crooks as film crews and trailers set up and word spread about Clooney being in town and scenes being shot at those Clawson locations. Film crews will be out until about 11 p.m., and spectators will be able to watch filming from the sidewalks.

"I think it's wonderful," said Judith Ellison of Clawson, who was out this morning watching the crews set up equipment. "We never see this (in Clawson)."

The Ides of March is a political drama about a presidential campaign starring Clooney as Gov. Mike Morris; Gosling as Stephen Meyers; and Marisa Tomei as Ida Horowicz. Clooney is also the film's director.

Film crews have been shooting in the Michigan for the past two weeks and already have shot scenes in Ann Arbor and Detroit. Location manager Dave Krieger said they chose Clawson because it's similar to suburban Cincinnati, which is where the scenes in the movie take place.

"Clawson has been incredibly helpful ... very accommodating," said Krieger, who owns Detroit-based Krieger Photography.

Krieger said they decided to shoot in Michigan because of the state's film tax credits program. However, he said this likely will be the last movie they shoot in Clawson because of Gov. Rick Snyder's plan to cap the Michigan film incentives.

"It's important for people to realize that we bring money to the the communities we film in," Krieger said. "Michigan embraces the film industry ... for the practice of being a part of something bigger."

Ellison agreed. "Rick Snyder obviously doesn't recognize the kind of advantages (films) bring to the local areas," she said.

Nika Gojcaj, owner of Nick's Country Oven, said the film company rented his restaurant for the day, and he closed it to the public. Crews set up new signs outside his restaurant for filming purposes. "This is very nice," Gojcaj said as he stood outside his restaurant where a crowd had gathered to watch film crews.

Clawson resident Debbie Hoffman said she was anxious all day at work to get out and see George Clooney on the movie set.

“It’s so exciting to have Hollywood come to Clawson,” Hoffman said. “It just confirms the fact that I love Clawson.”

Betty Randall, of Royal Oak, said she is a fan of Clooney’s and was happy to see him in a small town like Clawson.

“I think he’s always been a good actor and he’s never had a bad background in his movies,” Randall said.

Mayor Penny Luebs said she is pleased Clawson was chosen for a movie scene filming. "It's another validation that Clawson is a small city with a hometown feel," Luebs said.

At least one lane of 14 Mile was blocked off during afternoon between Crooks and Main Street for the filming.

Thanks Playfuldeb! I've not seen anything with her in it when I looked on her IMDb page. Maybe "the wife and daughter" aren't major roles in IOM, as his role is basically supporting. However, they get to be on set side by side with our George!

Starstruck on set with George Clooney

George Clooney wrote, directs and stars in "The Ides of March."

PUBLISHED MARCH 20TH, 2011

George Clooney isn’t your average celebrity. He’s no cast member of “Jersey Shore” — he’s a major celebrity to everyone. When you see Clooney in person, it’s big. That’s a name you can brag about. And when given the opportunity to be in his movie, you don’t hesitate. Clooney waits for no man.

So I, of course, jumped at the chance to be an extra in the upcoming “The Ides of March,” a political thriller — very Clooney — rife with idealistic reporters and dirty politics. Clooney is all over this film, from writing the screenplay, to directing, to starring as the corrupt Governor Mike Morris. The film also stars Ryan Gosling (“Blue Valentine”), Phillip Seymour Hoffman (“Pirate Radio”), Marisa Tomei (“The Wrestler”) and Evan Rachel Wood (“Across the Universe”) and is set to be released in October.

In what I’m sure is to be a pivotal scene, Governor Morris gives a speech at a presidential primary in Ohio. Supposedly set on a college campus, the scene includes yours truly along with 300 or so other extras, most of whom are University students. Just the idea of having Clooney on our campus was intoxicating. The novelty of seeing ourselves in a Clooney film won’t wear off soon.

As extras, our task was to look thoroughly engrossed in what Clooney was saying, then clap and enthusiastically wave signs with slogans like “Morris has Morrals.” Though pretending to be from Ohio was a definite stretch, I’d say we really carried the scene. The panning shots over the crowd are sure to cause some early Oscar buzz.

In between shooting, Clooney good-naturedly entertained the crowd. Upon request, he declared “Batman and Robin” the worst movie he’s ever starred in, advising all the future actors out there to “never do anything in spandex.” He also gracefully endured many shoutouts from the female members of the audience, including “George, you sexy beast!” and “Let me take you out tonight!” Undeterred by these displays of affection, Clooney explained a little bit about the movie and what exactly we, as extras, were supposed to do, and then thanked us for our time. At the end of the day he raffled off iPods, iPads, a Blu-ray player and a flat screen TV. As if he hadn’t already won over the crowd.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what makes Clooney so appealing. I was fully prepared for him to be the polar opposite of what he seems. He is a major celebrity, after all. Just because he looks handsome and dashing doesn’t automatically make him genuine. But even the most cynical would be charmed by Clooney’s repartee. Aside from an astonishing number of Canadian jokes (in jest at a member of the crew), Clooney gave a satisfying performance off camera as well, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Because, let’s face it, he could get away with being an absolute jerk, and we’d all still love him.

But it was clear from the first take that Clooney isn’t one of those pretentious actor types. Witty, charismatic and engaging, Clooney more than lived up to the hype. He looked completely at ease off camera, standing in front of the crowd, just talking to us. It’s safe to say that Clooney found his calling. It’s also safe to say that I’m just a teensy bit starstruck. But who can blame me? I dare you to spend a day with Clooney and not come out with stars in your eyes.

George Clooney films at Christ Church Cranbrook

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Santiago Esparza / The Detroit News
Bloomfield Hills- George Clooney is in Metro Detroit filming scenes for his latest movie and the visit has helped Christ Church Cranbrook earn $20,000 for a tutoring program and church upgrades.

The A-list actor is filming "The Ides of March" and filmed scenes today at the church. The movie crew needed the church filled for scenes so the parish used parishioners and friends who donated money for the chance to be a part of a big Hollywood production.

The $20,000 raised through the effort will be added to $30,000 previously raised for upgrades to the Bound Together program in which volunteers from episcopal churches tutor and feed students at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac three times a week after school.

Bound Together needs tutors. To volunteer, call (248) 344-2837.

VIDEO: Parishioners fill the house for George Clooney
Published: Tuesday, March 22, 2011
e
Janet Langtry woke up early Monday and spent the morning with actor George Clooney.

Lucky, lucky Langtry of Troy was among 300 Christ Church Cranbrook parishioners who worked as extras in a scene from the film, “The Ides of March,” filmed at her Episcopal church in Bloomfield Hills.

“What a wonderful experience,” said Langtry, who had taken off a day from her job as a counselor at Hazel Park Junior High.

“How often do you get a chance to do things like that this in the real world?”

She called Clooney “hot” as he directed actors and scenes inside the church. Many more women signed up to be seat-filling extras than men, she said.

“It was amazing,” she said.

“I saw women watching him up and down. He’s very humorous which was really nice to keep the crowd going.”

The film — directed by and starring Clooney — is being shot around the Detroit area. The church was the setting for a scene attended by many of the principal actors, including Ryan Gosling and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Because the scene required a full church for a funeral, the production company allowed Christ Church Cranbrook to fill the pews with parishioners — such as Langtry — and friends serving as extras.

To become a church extra, the church accepted donations for one of its projects called Bound Together, a tutoring program for elementary school students housed at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac.

Monday’s pew-filling extras project raised more than $20,000.

The church’s rector, Gary Hall, played a Catholic priest in the scene inside the church.

Clooney approached church officials because they registered it with the Michigan Film Commission.

“They looked at a number of churches and George chose (ours),” Hall said.

Clooney was “very charming,” Hall said.

“He was just great. He had four kids playing altar boys and he kept them loose (with humor). He was very gracious.”

Hall said his parishioners loved being part of the film.

“The whole church has been talking about this for months,” said Hall.

“I think this film production is good for the spirit of the community. Then to have this big community celebration and use the money for a good purpose (Bound Together) has just been great.”

Langtry — who paid $75 to be an extra — showed up at the Radisson Kingsley at 8 a.m. for her day of stardom. She and the other extras were then bused to the church.

Extras were told to wear black clothing and show no bare arms for the scene because they were attending a wintertime funeral. No one was permitted to take photographs during the shoot.

“I was amazed how long the lighting takes,” said Langtry.

Gosling and Hoffman sat in the back of the church talking, she said.

Every seat was taken, she recalled.

Langtry, a first-time movie actor, figured she and the church extras might make it into a scene where the camera pans the crowd.

“That’s our two seconds of fame,” she said with a laugh.

Fans on the hill

At midday, 10 women, most Cranbrook Schools employees, stood across from the church hoping to catch a glimpse of Clooney.

Lynn Carr of Lake Orion talked with others on her lunch hour.

“I like his looks,” she said, of Clooney.

“He reminds me of the classic stars.”

Carr chose 2009’s “Up in the Air” as her top Clooney flick.

Vicki Skok of Lake Orion called Clooney a “great actor,” adding “he’s seems like he’d be fun to meet.”

Many fans had their phones at the ready to snap a photograph.

“It’ll be all over Facebook,” said Skok.

Megan Discher and Charisse Tate stood on the hillside, hoping.

“I’m just checking out George,” said Discher, who had no yet been successful.

Theresa Robinson of Detroit kept her eyes trained on the church doors.

“I like him,” she said of Clooney.

The actor’s 1996 film with Michelle Pfeiffer, “One Fine Day” is her favorite.

“He does a good job,” she said.

What is George Clooney’s film, “The Ides of March” about?

The film tells the story of an idealistic staffer for a presidential candidate who gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail, according to reports at imdb.com. The story is based on the play, “Farragut North,” by Beau Willi
