What scares George Clooney?

It's not necessarily the paparazzi stalking his every move, having a "Facts of Life" flashback or watching Mitt Romney steal his best "Ides of March" dialogue.

Rather, it's being the guy — the very first one — who makes a bad Alexander Payne movie.

In this excerpt from our Envelope Screening Series, the "Syriana" Oscar winner talks about why he was terrified showing up for the first day of Payne's movie about a father trying to reconnect with his young daughters.

PHOENIX -- You might know her from the ABC Family show "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," but now actress Shailene Woodley has a new movie coming out later this year. It's called "The Descendents" and she stars opposite George Clooney. Not due out until next month, "The Descendents" is already generating Oscar buzz, including a possible Supporting Actress nod for Woodley.

The 19-year-old actress (She turns 20 in a few days.) sat down with 3TV's Scott Pasmore to talk about the movie, which was directed by Alexander Payne ("Sideways," "About Schmidt," "Election").

"It deals with a lot of tragic scenarios, but it's an Alexander Payne film … so even though he's dealing with the heavy, dark topics, you still laugh your head off because it's so funny," Woodley explained.

Woodley plays Clooney's daughter, 17-year-old "going through her angsty period in life." She ends up having to tell him that her mother, who is in a coma after a boating accident, was cheating.

While some might fear the movie is depressing given the plot, those who have seen it says that's not the case at all. The film screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was well received.

"The Descendents" is Woodley's first big feature film, and she said working side-by-side with Clooney was incredible.

"He's such a good, genuine, down-to-earth guy," Woodley said. "There aren't enough positive adjectives in the English vocabulary to really depict him. He's just amazing. I'm so lucky. People always asked what I learned from him. I learned to be a better human being. … I walked away a different person."

"The Descendents" opens Dec. 16. It's rated R.

Yes thank you laetval. In the Amarra video she looks either very tired or is about to cry. I think she's only 12 years old and maybe all the excitement about the film got to her. IMO

I am sure G. would be a very nice person to learn from, but he could also learn a lot from you.

i like george clooney when he have that rough voice and serious look ,i do like his smile too but i adore him when he gave up that charming persona and be serious he also charming but in another way.

I love the part of Lolo's video where George says that on the freeway in Hawaii people drive 45 miles an hour. In New Jersey on the freeway the speed limit is 65 miles an hour and if you don't go 75 MPH you get driven right off the road. Now that's living (or dying). LOL

Good news for me. I talked my friend into seeing The Descendents with me. He hates Clooney (for obvious reasons) but LOVES Shailene Woodley. So he can stare at Shailene and I'll stare at George. Works for me. Only setback is that I have to see Breaking Dawn with him. Paybacks are tough. LOL

As long as he's paying, who cares! Gonna go to Bridgewater? Then have him buy dinner too.

See, I may not have been clear that I was asking for venue, but your reply implied that I was in some way stupid for asking what you thought was an obvious question.
