You guys are far better experts re: GC. Help me to understand...
He's all over the place doing interviews ( morning shows, night shows). The man is trying way too hard. Could it be the critics are right.. and this movie is a turkey? Only other time I recall all on hands on deck for promotions was Oceans 12.

Mm, well, the only thing I would say is that if you look at that
cast their diaries must be as long your arm into the future, so this extended junket blitz (WWII appropriate) must have been planned yonks ago, I would have thought

I agree Party Animal-Not! But this man can get tv interview time at the snap of his fingers. Do you recall the last time he did Letterman, et al , plus all the day shows? I can't imagine his peeps planned for him to do this much tv pr so far in the future ( before or during filming). Something feels odd about this.

Wait Wait Wait!! I initially thought he was doing all these interviews because he has been told to due to it potentially being a dud, but then I remembered. When IOM came out, he did lots of press too. It may be that he is just motivated particularly when he is helming it.

I have another theory too.  It's awards season and he might want to make sure he doesn't get lost in the crowd of this year's movies.  Perhaps the Academy folks are more in tune with viewing a lot of films at this time of the year than at others since voting ends on February 25th for this year's nominees.

Not that his film is in the running, I understand that, but coming out now - and if members go to see it and/or watch the DVDs I'm sure they've all already gotten, then he might have a chance to be rememered for next year's round of nominations and voting.

Just a thought.  I haven't seen the film so can't gauge whether it's award worthy material or not.

David Letterman seemed to like it though.

I think he's doing a ton of publicity because this is his film - he wrote it (with Grant), directed it, and is one of the main stars. If GC doesn't stand behind the movie no one will. The film started to get a black cloud over it when the release date was pushed back and all the press the cast has done has helped create a great buzz. Just because the film may not be worthy of an Oscar doesn't mean audiences won't fill the seats for it. I can't wait for it to open next weekend in Italy!

That's what I think too jd68, they had already set their opinions about it, sight unseen, when the date was pushed back and they've been slaving away to justify their attitude against it ever since...and welcome to posting on the board!
