Wow, SG! Thank you so much. At last we're getting the all-so important background to the film. It's a huge story and now more and more people will get to know about because of Our Hero and Friend.
I would not be at all surprised to find out that His Nibs has already asked Harry Ettlinger to the premiere..........

Really interesting.
I was suprised Claude Monet work was mentioned, his work was sought after already then... I have visited his house in Giverny, the whole place is quite unique...everything left in their places like he´d just walked out of the house few minutes ago. Real time travel to past.

That's fascinating! Factual & historic.silly girl wrote:They are going to get a Congressional Medal. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
"Man Holding the Globe" was Hitler's favorite piece.
Naturally....
Harry Ettlinger was very brave indeed to risk his life like that, especially with his circumstances. And he's still going strong. How inspiring!
Greatest treasure hunt in history & Edsel states there is so much more...
Well deserved Congressional medal for the remaining three Monuments Men and posthumously in honor of the others.
I'd love to visit Monet's home too one day.
Thanks for the info to all who posted above.

I got goosebumps watching that clip. George must feel really good inside himself for making this movie, bringing awareness to the public, and bringing recognition to those who are the real Monument's Men.

Re: CBS This Morning piece on Monuments Men
But is this coincidence?
It just strikes me as "peculiar" that this hits the news, what would had been* 12 days before MM release.
Are we seeing the power of Hollywood in all it's glory.
I do believe the gentleman in Germany was a fluke .... but this, to me, is well... it was in the pipeline anyway "wouldn't it be cool if it dovetailed with MM" Absolutely nothing wrong with that ...win win all round.
I still think/feel there is more "real jaw dropping stuff to come". We shall wait and see.........

Yep, clearly somebody in Government is taking notice.
Edsel's book has been out for a couple of years, so you can only conjecture what the wheels of power's influences are and timings......
Handy tho!
