The George in Rye have just posted on Facebook their thankyous to His Nibs and company for a great week. They've left.

This is a great find, Mazy. He must find it refreshing that some of the folks just want to shake his hand and talk to him, rather than having pix taken on their phones with him. Seem to remember him talking about that at some point

Yes Nicky80 the ones with the dog were my favorite also. George loves animals.

Working, relaxing, greeting well wishers and chatting to folk who are just watching a scene from a film being shot.....
That's the George I like to see.

Geogre Clooney brought a host of Hollywood stars to Camber Sands to film his new movie
Hollywood stars have turned a Sussex resort into a Second World War battlefield.

George Clooney has been recreating the D-Day landings on the beach at Camber Sands filming for his new film The Monuments Man.

The Hollywood A-lister has been joined on the Sussex coast by fellow stars Matt Damon, Bill Murray and John Goodman.
The film’s cast and crew have been staying at the Pontins in Camber Sands, taking up 85 rooms, and have reportedly been enjoying the family resort’s entertainment.
The film, which is scheduled for release next January, follows the exploits of a crew of art historians and museum curators trying to recover works of art stolen by the Nazis before Hitler destroys them.
Clooney took time out directing his film to sign autographs and pose for pictures for fans.

Aron Wiodiz, manager at Marino’s Fish bar, said film crew had come to his takeaway to collect orders.
He said that famously portly actor John Goodman waited outside the fish and chip shop but didn’t go in.
It is thought the orders were then taken back to the set for the rest of the Hollywood stars to enjoy.
Mr Wiodiz said: “I thought Americans wouldn’t want our traditional food but they were really interested.
“It’s brought a bit of elegance to the area.
“It was really quiet when they shut the road for filming because nobody could get here but then they took 37 orders to take away.”
Resident Lee Thomas said: “The stars were very friendly, talking and shaking hands with the public.
"I thought my girlfriend was going to faint.

“John Goodman took the time to have a chat and nothing was too much trouble.”
Ian Smith, barman at the Camber Castle, said: “We haven’t seen them in here although a few of the locals said they saw them in Rye.

“I don’t watch films so personally I don’t know what he looks like and wouldn’t know if I had served him. I am not sure having the film here will encourage more tourists to Camber.”

RYE HAS A TASTE OF HOLLYWOOD AS MOVIE GETS SHOT

The Rye area is enjoying a taste of glamour this week with a potential Hollywood blockbuster being filmed .

The movie Monuments Men is directed by George Clooney, who also stars in it along with big names like Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray.
Filming has been taking place at Camber and Winchelsea and continues at the Strand and Strand Quay area of Rye today (Friday).

The film, which is due to be released on December 18 this year, is a war-time thriller about an Allied group, tasked with saving pieces of art and other culturally important items before their destruction by Hitler.

As preparations for shooting got underway people were confronted by the strange sights of a crashed German Messerschmitt on Camber Sands and an empty antiques shop at Rye’s Strand being converted into what appears to be a German butcher’s shop.
Period fishing luggers appeared at Strand Quay, which is rumoured to represent a French fishing port in the film.

Filming was taking place at Winchelsea on Thursday where the interior of the New Inn had been painstakingly converted to resemble a 1940’s pub.

A Rye businessman involved with the filming, but who did not want to be named, said: “I think this is terrific for Rye. There has been a real buzz down here, even early in the morning when it is usually dead. It has been really interesting to see them at work and what they can achieve.”

Rye Heritage Centre manager Peter Cosstick said: “There has been a lot of interest.”

The Strand car park was closed for filming yesterday and today (Friday 7).
Clooney, who has filmed in the area before, is rumoured to have a love for Rye.
Filming first started in Germany in early March. Scenes have also been shot in Cambridgeshire.
A spokesperson for Rother District Council said: “The filming is expected to attract extra income to Rye and will help advertise the town to a wide audience.”

The woolpack is a pub and restaurant in Rye so looks like he is still filming there.
