Marriage or Relationship

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him
and never say it's not quite as good as his mother's
ADOPT a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour,
for as long and wherever you want ...
Adopt a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care
about football, and can sit next to you as you watch
romantic movies ...
Adopt a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get on your bed just to
warm your feet and who you can push off if he snores
Adopt a dog

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do,
doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old,
who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of
listening to and loves You unconditionally, perpetually ...
..then Adopt a dog.

BUT, on the other hand, if you want someone who will never
come when you call,
ignores you totally when you come home,
leaves hair
all over the place,
walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat
and sleep and acts as if your entire existence is solely
to ensure his happiness...

....then Adopt a cat

Oi, you! Have a Good Day !

INCREDIBLE. I DIDN'T KNOW TOM HANKS DAD WAS THE LEAD SINGER OF THE DIAMONDS WAY BACK IN 1957! THEY SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME AS THEY DID!
2 Performances 47 years apart
FYI, the lead singer of the Diamonds is also the father of TOM HANKS.

If you were alive in 1957, and old enough to enjoy Rock and Roll, you will probably remember the group, "The Diamonds" who had just launched their super hit "Little Darlin' ". For you that are too young to remember - it was a time when the performers were happy, enjoying themselves, respecting their fans, dressed appropriately and their lyrics could be understood. They did not feel obligated to scream, eat the microphone, mumble inaudible lyrics or trash the set.

In 1957, The Diamonds had a hit with "Little Darlin". 47 years later, they were requested to perform at Atlantic City ... This link leads to both performances.

Watch the first one then scroll down for the new one 47 years later.

Patty, thanks so much for the Little Darlings video. Love your sense of humor about the current "performers" because it's sooooo true. At least back then the songs had a tune and words too, not the repeating of the same words over and over and over like they do today. LOL

On a different note, I received my copy of Susan Nielsen's "Dear George Clooney Please Marry My Mom" and it had me intrigued from the first sentence.

But what's been so enjoyable is the writing is so witty that I've found myself laughing out loud in the most inappropriate places while reading the book.

Here's the first sentence:

"For the record: I did not mean to send my two half sisters to the emergency room."

Well when I got to the reason WHY they had to go to the emergency room - something that Violet, the protagonist had instigated, I found myself howling in laughter!

The main character is a seventh grader but the way the author gives her such witty insight makes this enjoyable reading for any age.

I read a couple of paragraphs to my brother who is in his fifties and I had him howling in laughter too!

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good writing & who wants to laugh.

Three Sisters

Three elderly sisters, ages 92, 94 and 96, shared a house together.
One evening, the 96 year old sister went upstairs to take a bath.
As she put her foot into the tub, she paused.
Then she yelled down to the other two sisters and asked,
"Was I getting in the tub or out?"

"You dern fool," said the 94 year old. "I'll come up and see."
When she got half way up the stairs she paused.
"Was I going up the stairs or down?"

The 92 year old sister was sitting at the kitchen table
drinking a cup of tea and thought,
"I hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood."

She shook her head and called out,
"I'll be up to help you both as soon
as I see who's at the door."

ROFL Joanna. I hope I never get that old.

Are Scotchmen really this cheap?

Jock & Jimmy, two RBS investment bankers, were walking along a street in London. Jock looked in one of the shop windows and saw a sign that caught his eye. The sign read, "Suits £5.00 each, Shirts £2.00 each, trousers £2.50 per pair".

Jock said to his pal, "Look at the prices! We could buy a whole lot of these and when we get back to Scotland we could make a fortune. Now when we go in you stay quiet, okay? Let me do all the talking cause if they hear our accents, they might think we are cheap Scotsmen and try to screw us. I'll put on my best London accent".
"OK Jock, I'll keep me mouth shut" said Jimmy.

They go in and Jock said in a posh voice, "Hello my good man. I'll take 50 suits at £5.00 each, 100 shirts at £2.00 each, and 50 pairs of trousers at £2.50 each. I'll back up me truck ready to load them on, old chap!

The owner of the shop said quietly, "You're from Scotland, aren't you?"
"Well yes," said a surprised Jock. "What gave it away?"

The owner replied, "This is a dry-cleaners

Ok, playfuldeb, this is the chat Joanna meant? I thought maybe there was a chatroom or something.

I've been white water rafting on the New River in West Virginia 3 times. During a certain season in June there are several Class V rapids running.

The first time I went, I was scared out of my gourd. I kept picturing the local news channel doing a story on me, saying things like "We've dragged the river for three days now and still have not found her body." lolol

We went down in 8 man inflatable rafts, with a guide at the back. At the outset, your guide will instruct you on how to paddle together, how to sit in the raft, what to do if you get ejected from the raft and find yourself being tossed about in a swirling rapid, etc.

On my first trip, we hit a particularly boisterous Class V run and I popped out of the boat like a rubber ball - and it was all in slow motion. But they teach you certain principles, which if you follow, will keep you relatively harm free. One of the principles is don't let go of your paddle and don't let go of the boat! The guide, a strapping ex Navy seal, grabbed me and hauled my ass up out of the water and back into the boat. Definitely a highlight for moi!

The trip takes the better part of a day. You stop halfway for a picnic on the beachy riverbank. The scenery is amazing. I don't want to go on and on, but if you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it. My son went on the Gauley River in WV, which is a much harder and more dangerous trip and he's blind, so the river guides definitely know their stuff and can keep you safe.

Thanks for being interested. Haven't thought about those days in awhile. Definitely some great memories.

Sounds like you had a blast. Your talking about it brings back so wonderful memories - about 20 yrs. ago went out to Oregon to visit friends with my husband. We went sightseeing, went to Crater Lake and did the rapids on a river I don't remember the name of. (CRS) It was great fun, and as you say the scenery was spectacular. Doesn't matter if it's East or West, the sights in the mountains are wonderful.

When I visited the Grand Canyon moons ago, I wanted to hike down and try white water rafting along the Colarado, never took the chance which I now regret, think that would have been a blast, though I did love every minute of my visit there and hiked a few trails, just gorgeous.

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know

the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans...

5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Some more....

a) What's the difference between a G-Spot and a golf ball? A man will actually search for a golf ball!!

In the beginning......

In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for football matches, going to the beach and barbeques. He created night for going prawning, sleeping and barbeques. God saw that it was good.
Evening came and morning came and it was the second Day.

On the Second Day God created water - for surfing, swimming and bbqs on the beach. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Third Day.

On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants - to provide tobacco, malt and yeast for beer and wood for bbq. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day.

On the Fourth Day God created animals and crustaceans for chops, sausages, steak and prawns for bbqs. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Fifth Day.

On the Fifth day God created a man - to go to the football, enjoy the beach, drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at bbqs. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Sixth Day.

On the Sixth Day God saw that this man was lonely and needed someone to go to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the bbq with. So God created Mates, and God saw that they were good blokes. Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day.

On the Seventh Day God looked around at the twinkling bbq fires, heard the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the Blokes, smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns and God saw that it was good. well almost good. God saw that the blokes were tired and needed a rest.

So God created women - to clean the house, bear children, wash, cook and clean the bbq. God saw that it was not just good, it was better than that, it was bloody great!

Good Comeback Line

A mother in law said to her son's wife when
their baby was born:

"I don't mean to be rude... but he doesn't look
anything like my son "

The daughter in law lifted her skirt and said:

"I don't mean to be rude either...
but this is a pussy.. not a photo- copier."

Correct Use of Words

Wife texts husband on a cold winters morning:

"Windows frozen."

Husband texts back:

"Pour some lukewarm water over it."

Wife texts back:

"Computer completely Knackered now."

Your personal stories on George's Childhood thread
reminded me of a much loved little poem...thank you
for your stories flower

Two things stand like stone:

Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in your own”

pattygirl wrote:Sounds like you had a blast.

Agreed! Sounds like a blast!

We have a National Park in our backyard practically (30 minutes away) and we used to take our horses up there and ride on the weekends. I've seen and experienced things that I would never see by plane, car, or in a crowded city, etc. Its very freeing and calming. Well, until you get into bear territory. geek
