‘The Amal’ becomes overnight rhinoplasty sensation in Beirut plastic surgery clinics

BEIRUT: Plastic surgeons in Lebanon have reported a huge leap in demand for a nose-reshaping procedure that has become known as ‘The Amal’.

Following Lebanese barrister Amal Alamuddin’s shock engagement to Return of the Killer Tomatoes star George Clooney, thousands of the country’s single ladies are now looking to go under the knife with the hope of snaring their own Hollywood A-lister.

“To be honest, it’s not really something we’ve had requested before,” admitted Dr Ralf Sussmen of the Beirut Beauty Clinic.

“Ms Alamuddin’s features are curiously natural in their appearance, cleverly sculpted so as to appear as if they haven’t been utterly reshaped beyond their original form through multiple lifts or implants. But whatever we think, it’s clearly a look George seems to go for… I’m already booked up with orders until September.”

It´s not just in Lebanon and not just now. It´s been a trend for a while actually. I happen to know a plastic surgeon here and he has just genarally talked about his job. What are the trends etc. Usually these operations are not done, because they need to be done, but because people want them.

Now more and more patients do not fix the so called "family nose" or "aquiline nose" but they just reshape it, cartilage in the nose stays untouched, they just make it slimmer.

Second very common procedure is getting rid of nose to mouth lines (known as nasolabial folds). It changes the appearence younger and fresh right away. Those lines are typically first signs of ageing, some have deep lines already before 20.

Plastic surgery is a big business, but also tabu. Not very many admit they have used it and best ones (surgeons) advertise their operations "natural", so it doesn´t look like you had one. This sells.

They do plastic surgery on people that don't need it??????

Not sure what you mean melbert, but yes rarely they have a patient that is burnt badly, or after accident, or illness, mostly it´s for esthétique. Well maybe mental problems play a role then…so they are not cliniquement well… and these doctors they are not beauty pageant judges… so can be a little one bombe à retardement. LOL
