MONEY, MONEY, MONEY: For those who don’t know, virtually all of the celebrity plugs you see on Twitter are paid endorsements — but look at how much these folks are raking in!

Kim Kardashian leads the pack, according to the Huffington Post, reportedly being paid $20,000 each time she promotes a product to the more than 17,800,000 people who follow her on Twitter. George Clooney’s galpal Stacy Keibler gets a not-shabby $6,500-per-tweet, Jared Leto is paid $13,000 and even Snooki pulls in $7,800 every time that she creates a tweet-for-pay.

Firstly you need to be famous and get thousands of people following you on twitter. Then I think you just need to sit and wait and they will come to you with the money offers.

Seriously though, I think most of us understand that celebs are being paid to advertise products on twitter so it's not every tweet she makes, just the promotional ones.

I understand that, too, but wouldn't mind if somebody would offer me such a job.

Ok, so I understand getting paid to promote a product; it's called marketing. But the amount being paid is ridiculous and absurd. I dont know how to use twitter, but I have big boobs. Cant I just wear t-shirts and get paid? Guys are always looking at my chest

Um, it was a joke. Kim Kardashian could probably wear pants with messages on the backside as well as a tshirt and there could be messages to read when she's coming and going

Umm, I don't think she's paid to post pithy quotes. Didn't the article say "plugs" as in endorsing a product? And since social media is such a potentially powerful tool, it doesn't surprise me at all that companies would pay that much. How much do you get to do a television commercial? A magazine ad? A PSA?

It cannot be just for a single tweet. She must have a tweet deck set up, you put in the tweet and schedule when it should be posted. Every hour or so, it would have to kind of flood her following so to speak.

I set up a tweet deck it's free but haven't been using it because I have to read everything I post. My is not for commercial use.

PS You do not have to be there to do the posting as long as you are connected.

The article does say per tweet and Stacy never 'floods' her followers with promotional tweets.

We're not talking about every tweet she makes. She only gets paid for the advertising type of tweets she makes.

I never look at her twitter, only what is posted here,(CRS) but she does mention lots of products/places in the tweets posted here. Think of all the money she may have made just moving her fingers.

It is still a lot of $$$$ regardless of whether it is one tweet or for five tweets.

You are sooo right Katiedot I did some googleing and it is for one tweet, they get paid. They get huffy because GTC does commercials,

I don't mind so much about George and his commercials (although I wish he didn't), but at least with him you know he got paid for the TV advert and you know you're being sold to when you see his commercial. It's open.

With these promotional tweets, how do you differentiate between what Stacy's selling and what she might genuinely think is good?

Back long, long ago, actors woulkd do commercials for what they believed in and people bought the product because it was supported by an actor people liked. Nowadays, it's about the money and an actors word for it doesnt have substance

I don't have a problem with George or any other celeb doing commercials why not make all the money you can. I don't buy products because some celeb in a commercial endorses it.

I don't have a problem with it either as long as it's not done underhanded. When you know they are selling to you, fine by me. They have a right to make whatever money they are able to. Star power doesn't last forever and so many end up broke down the line due to the lifestyle expense or poor planing.

Interesting article that popped up on my FB this morning about celebrities getting paid to tweet. SK isn't mentioned but it could effect her.

i hate twitter, seriously i have no idea on how to use it and i really done want to, George and his commercials are fine by me, i thought he did those because he uses the money to pay for the satelite he is involved in as that's really expensive
