George Back in England

According to the wonderful world of Twitter, George is allegedly in Lytham England for a golf tournament.

The golf tournament starts on the 15th which is today. Ticket master are selling tickets if anyone wants to go. The news of George being there is still all over twitter, although no photos so far so who knows.

You're right Cinderella seems this was yet another Twitter hoax along with the sarajevo sighting. He's in Italy and his parents are there too.

Could G have flown there for just a few hours? Especially if he still has a friendship with Tommy (does he) and people are predicting Tommy's career is sinking.

You can fly from italy to england in about an hour so I guess anything is possible. I've never heard of him and tom being friends but who knows. Last I heard tom was shooting a movie in LA. Sometimes people will mention a celebrity sighting just to draw attention to their event. May have been what happened. Doesn't seem right that he would be there for a couple of days before an event happened and leave before it started. Unless he was scouting locations for monument men. Who knows. A lot of people were convinced they had seen him but no one had any pics.

George was in Italy, Tom in California. End of story - they weren't in England.

I thought that I read that G bought tickets way in advance for some Olympic Events. True?

We've definitely had this story before about George attending a golf event in the UK. Also the Grand Prix (can't remember where, was it Monaco?). And of course the Olympics.

All it means is that the organisers invited George and hoped he would come.

I saw an old picture of him attending wimbledon with nicole kidman and tom cruise. So I guess in answer to davidas question he does know tom. Maybe george could give tom some advice and tell him not to get married again.

I remember G playing basketball with Tommy. TNMC, some website are already predicting who the next wife will be. I think he should only consider marrying another Scientologist.

We've had the golf story at least twice here in the North West...when Samuel L Jackson was here filming something and he joined the local golf course and invited George....

Even if we all knew that it was not true, at least there is a denial by the local newspaper

OPEN GOLF: Wild celebrity sighting claims

THE Open Golf brings with it some serious celebrity fans – and sightings of A-list celebrities are flying around Lytham and St Annes.

But the past two tournaments at Royal Lytham in 1996 and 2001 – and now this year’s – have seen wild rumours circulating about stars attending the competition.

And three names in particular seem to be the favourites; Tom Cruise, George Clooney, and Sean Connery.

These stellar actors – and golf fans – have already been “seen” around Lytham and St Annes by a multitude of people logging their sightings on social networking sites.

That’s despite the fact that there’s no pictorial evidence, and practical difficulties such as Tom Cruise being “papped” in Los Angeles today by photographers as he endures the break up of his marriage to Katie Holmes!

The timing of the Olympic Games opening ceremony – just after The Open Golf finishes – has seen suggestions that the President of the United States, Barack Obama, could even attend.

Everyone wants to see a star - and some will no doubt attend - but it’s now hard to separate any real sightings to those fabricated.

Some wags have set up tongue-in-cheek Facebook and Twitter accounts and posts to add to the confusion – Cliff Richard and Cilla Black were most definitely not staggering along Smithy Lane in Ansdell last weekend!

And Mr Clooney wasn’t looking over the shelves in Tesco Express in St Annes.
