Most caffeine-deprived coffee-loving humans would go considerably out of their way for the perfect cup—and George Clooney is no exception. The actor, coffee enthusiast, and Nespresso brand ambassador has been appearing in the company's ads internationally since 2006, and the luxury coffee pods brand just dropped another Clooney-led commercial. Fans of coffee and Hollywood classics are sure to enjoy the spot, in which Clooney makes cameos in several classic movies on a coffee-bound journey. In honor of the ad's launch, Bon Appétit spoke with Clooney about working on the commercial, his history with coffee, and his current coffee habits.
"I've been on a journey with Nespresso over the last 12 years and this campaign has been one of the most fun and imaginative to date," George Clooney told Bon Appétit. "I love classic Hollywood and a cameo appearance in these famous movies has been one of my favorite roles."

Nespresso
In the minute-long ad, which dropped Wednesday morning, Clooney is stuck on a rainy film set, gazing woefully at an average coffee maker. His pal Andy Garcia, of The Godfather fame, randomly calls him from a tropical vacation to brag about how great drinking Nespresso coffee is, as one does. Clooney walks off the set and embarks on an epic road trip through travel scenes from several classic films: The Muppet Movie; Psycho; Easy Rider; Smokey and the Bandit; Planes, Trains and Automobiles; and Seabiscuit. The epic journey ends with Clooney riding Seabiscuit up to the Nespresso Boutique & Cafe in Beverly Hills.
Coffee has been part of Clooney's life since he was just eight years old. "I remember when I was a kid I would sneak a cup of my dad's coffee at work when he was doing a radio show," he recalled. "Eight-year-olds really aren't supposed to be drinking coffee. The coffee we drank back then was very different—it was sort of a watered down version." As the actor got older, he began to appreciate a quality cup of coffee. "Getting really good coffee I think didn’t happen for me until I moved to Europe and started spending time drinking a much different kind of coffee," he said. "Once you find good coffee, like Nespresso, you don’t need to add anything extra like milk and sugar. Quality coffee makes a big difference."
"Most recently, I've been drinking the Nespresso Cuban coffee—it will wake you right up." (That flavor, the first Cuban coffee to be sold in the U.S. in more than 50 years, is currently sold out on Nespresso's website.) "I usually enjoy my coffee in the kitchen when I wake up in the morning. I go downstairs, and the first thing I do is turn on my machine. Then I'll usually have about three more cups that day." Four cups a day! That's dedication.
Check out the commercial here and some behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, below.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Clooney on the set of his new Nespresso ad, his first U.S. spot for the brand in two years.
Who’s suaver, George Clooney or Fozzie Bear?
Check out the Cloonster’s latest ad for Nespresso and decide for yourself. Georgie pops into travel scenes from a half-dozen familiar Hollywood films, including The Muppet Movie, as he takes the long, cinematic way home for a cup of that sweet sweet joe:
Yes, that’s Andy Garcia taunting Clooney on the phone. Hey, Andy—your Oscar envy’s showing! (Just kidding. You were great in that thing you were in, whatever it was.)
Developed with McCann New York, the commercial marks Clooney’s first U.S. ad for Nespresso in nearly two years. Along with the Muppets’ first big-screen romp (1979), the spot incorporates clips from Psycho (1960), Easy Rider (1969), Smokey and the Bandit (1977), Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) and Seabiscuit (2003).
“We wanted to bring an aspect of George’s movie world mixed with elements of cultural references into the campaign,” client vp of marketing Davide Moro tells AdFreak. “We worked closely with George in selecting the movies.”
His integration into the old films is pretty darn impressive.
“The director, Grant Heslov, and [effects company] Framestore worked together closely to come up with a seamless edit,” Moro says. “This covered everything from necessary props—the cars and motorcycle—lighting, camera angles and lenses. Figuring out everything in advance resulted in George being able to focus on his performance for each greenscreen set-up over the course of the three shoot days.”
You’ll note that Clooney never appears “beside himself” in footage from any of his own movies. Presumably, such a debonair doubling would cause the cosmos to explode.
You’ll also note that he doesn’t have any lines (aside from voicing the “What else?” tagline at the end)—though his presence is impressive throughout, as he sells the comic premise through priceless facial expressions.
Garcia, on the other hand, never shuts up. Go easy on that java, Andy!

That's some coffee run! George Clooney hitches a ride with the Muppets and more iconic characters in search of a caffeine fix for new ad
By Ross Mcdonagh For Dailymail.com

George Clooney would use planes, trains and automobiles - and motorbikes, and a horse - to get his Nespresso.
The 55-year-old hitches some of the most iconic movie rides in history in his latest ad for the coffee company.
The one-minute commercial sees the long-time brand ambassador staring at a crummy coffeepot on a glum rainy set, while Andy Garcia taunts him over the phone from an idyllic breakfast setting.

Without uttering a word throughout the entire ad, a determined Clooney travels through time and film, grabbing lifts from some very famous faces.First to pick him up are Kermit The Frog and Fozzie Bear, who happily sing as they drive, while their passenger doesn't even complain about the Muppet behind the wheel.
Next George finds himself shotgun beside Burt Reynolds in Smokey And The Bandit's 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
