MPTF’s “Night Before” Party Sets Co-Chairs George Clooney, Cate Blanchett and Angela Bassett
Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are also co-chairs for the MPTF fundraiser with a host committee of Oscar nominees like Austin Butler, Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser, Colin Farrell and Jamie Lee Curtis.

It’s nearly the night before the Academy Awards.
That means the Motion Picture & Television Fund is finalizing details for the 21st annual “Night Before” fundraiser that will be held on the Fox lot on March 11, the evening before the Oscars. Angela Bassett, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Christopher Nolan and producing partner wife Emma Thomas are set as co-chairs of the starry gathering that will raise funds to support industry members who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services.
The host committee includes a number of this year’s Oscar nominees including Austin Butler, Hong Chau, Kerry Condon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Brendan Gleeson, Brian Tyree Henry, Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Paul Mescal, Ke Huy Quan, Diane Warren and Michelle Yeoh. Also on the committee are Paloma and Vin Diesel, Susan and Robert Downey Jr., Echo Quan, Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks.
“MPTF is incredibly grateful to our amazing ‘Night Before’ co-chairs and host committee as the entertainment industry comes together once again to celebrate the achievements of the film community while raising much needed funds for MPTF,” said MPTF president and CEO Bob Beitcher of the event that comes amid a critical time for the organization as it seeks to raise funds to keep it afloat.
Presenting sponsors of the “Night Before” party this year include City National Bank, Delta Air Lines, L’Oréal USA, The Hollywood Reporter parent company Penske Media Corporation (PMC) and UCLA Health with support from Diamond Sponsor, Dolby.

Hard to know to be honest, given that the man can operate from wherever he happens to be in the world. The last fundraiser he did for a similar Hollywood-based charity a few months ago was all done on line. He certainly doesn't necessarily need to be at the Oscars - unless he fancies it of course tho I was never convinced that he liked the award shows.
He has his technical and film offices in every country he has property in - tho obviously he's in NYC filming now - and I'm willing to bet that dovetails with Amal's teaching....

Actually, I thought the last DM article had them filming in LA now. Not that that means much, since they can fly in and out whenever they want.
George has been involved in industry charities for a long time, so he might want to be there for this since he's a c0-chair.

Honestly, I think it's time to end these awards shows, the grammys included. The pople who are supposed to vote don't even watch the movies or in the case of the grammys listen to the music. Some don't even bother to vote or let others do it for them. At this day and age surely they can come up with another system that isn's so biased. I'll say it and racism is till running rampant through these show's.

I agree, but it won't happen. Far too many advertisers and vested interests are involved I think

Aw heck, they ( entertainment industry) have a great need to pat themselves on them back frequently and regularly. George is no different. Ever watch/listen to the comments on his dvd movies? Everyone sings his praises ( prompted), including Grant. On the Stare at Goats dvd Grant states re: George's performance "George knocked it out mof the park". Huh? Not knocking the man, just saying he needs alot of strokes. If nothing else, look at all the photo ops since he got married, esp the gaze pose.party animal - not! wrote:I agree, but it won't happen. This may be an unpopular opinion, but awards shows don't bother me. Financial issues aside, everyone wants recognition for their work - performers probably more than others. They do what they do because they have a need for attention, so it isn't surprising they pat themselves on the back in front of an audience. You don't have to watch if you don't want to. Personally, mostly I don't, but when I do I don't take it seriously.
