I know what you mean about kids not living close. I'm fortunate enough that at least my kids live in NJ. Hope you have a great time at your granddaughter's wedding. I think just you being there is gift enough. Sounds like a blast.

I might prefer title "girlfriend of" but since that's never gonna happen, being "grandmother of" or "greatgrandmother of" is a title I have 22 and 5 times over respectively so I'm very happy with it and content.

Can't say I expected to either, but here I am and enjoying every party. Fortunately, I can still go to them and laugh and have fun. So don't count yourself out and think happy thoughts.

Redid my "inventory", it's not 5 but 6 gg's. Last one is only 7 mo old, so he slipped through the crack in my brain. Happens! But I do intend to continue to enjoy them whenever I see or talk to them. They are a wonderment.

The highlight of this week for me is when it stops raining. It's been pouring for the last 12 or so hours. Many here have flooding, mostly south of me. Well, at least no one has to worry about watering the flowers. LOL
And congratulations patty on your 6 great grandkids. 7 months is such a cute age.

Thanks for the congrats. They are cute.
Feels like it's not going to stop. Local paper posted pics of all big flood spots. We have one that used to flood quite often and hadn't in a while. Well, while is over and would you believe there are 6 cars in the middle of it, all with water up to windows. It isn't a big spot, just a railway underpass but can be unbelieveable. I think the flowers are going to drown if it doesn't stop soon. We have an alert till 6 pm Monday.
Watching "The Holiday". Have you ever seen it? Love it and watch whenever it's on .

My highlight was George laying an egg so now I finally know he is a girl and getting pictures of my great niece who is nearly one who I have never seen! She looks just like her big brother but with different hair colouring.

Re: The highlight of your week
My weekly highlight was at 6am WED. when I got woke up with a phone call from the local police saying my 21 year old son had an accident, but he was OK! The police station is only 5mins. away, so I get dressed and drive over and there he is, only my son can have an accident in the driveway of the police station while driving the posted speed limit of 25mph. He fell asleep at the wheel and ran into a curb, it spun the car around and the air bags deployed. He's fine just bruised, the car has been declared totaled. What fun motherhood can be, I feel very lucky this week.

My highlight was finally getting a day off yesterday and spending it on the beach. I'm a little pink today but feel sooooo much better.

Congrats Lucy! You go girl.
I need to get back on the diet and workout bandwagon. Once my daughter is back in school, we can get on a better routine and I can do my workouts while she's in school.
Woohoo for a day at the beach, Katie. Nothing like a little R&R.

Lucy, you are truly lucky. Guess he gave you a couple of grey hairs, huh! Hope his bruises heal fast. Paying for new airbags should keep him awake at the wheel from now on.

Re: The highlight of your week
Katiedot you work too hard, good for you to lie around for a day, pinks not a bad color.
Thanks for the congrats, just got tired of being overweight, at my age it's more about health than anything else.
Pattygirl if there is more grey I wouldn't notice, I gave up hair dye 10 years ago, but since I'm blonde my natural color isn't bad. One of the reasons body shop says car is totaled is due to cost of replacing air bags, along with other damage car is not worth repairing.

Sorry about the car. That's gotta hurt.
I'm tired of being overweight, too, but hate exercise (depresses me) and while I do watch what I eat, I watch me eating bad things too. I see my dr. every 3 mo. (HBP), and I usually lose a pound or two each time. He tells me that it's good that I'm losing slowly. HAH!

I've always heard that the slower it comes off the easier it is to keep off. I'm inclined to believe it too. I lost 25lbs last year and have been able to keep it off by not over doing it. Before, I'd lose it quickly and it would come back even faster. Now if I can just lose another 25lbs and keep it off...

That's right Mygirl, "quick" diets never work long term. It's just a matter of changing eating habits. I've done that in past few months, eating only 2 small meals a day. I did some damage because of that because I can't eat that much now and have lost 22 pounds. I'm now trying to put weight back on but can't because my stomach won't take much food at once.

Re: The highlight of your week
Well, noone's written on this thread for a while. So here goes.
We on the East Coast experienced Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene this past week. I fortunately didn't experience it first hand, as I was in NM.
My highlight was my granddaughter's wedding. It was just about the best wedding I've ever been to. Not the fanciest by any means, nor the biggest, but definitely the happiest. The joy that filled the room was unparalleled. My daughter even danced with her ex, several times. I really was overwhelmed. The wedding ceremony too place outside at the venue with the background of the Sandia Mountains and a beautiful(though very hot) sunshiny day. Everything was absolutely wonderful.
My trip home on Tues. was uneventful, with a connection through Houston. Son and grandson picked me up at Newark and I was home about 7:30.

PattyGirl, I'm so happy that you were able to attend such a loving event. And they were blessed to have you there!
As for the highlight of my week: VENICE Film Festival and seeing our "old" George back. Not old in years, old in his former personality!!!! This is the George that I know I fell in love with years ago. I hope that it continues.
I know this isn't a "George thread", but I'm so boring otherwise!

What difference what thread it isn't, it's your highlight, isn't it? That's what the sign says, anyway.
I too am glad George is back. Don't remember such a long drawn out period of blah with any other GF. Can't help but feel that somehow he felt trapped in relationship w/EC. Why, I can't imagine. He should have walked away from it much sooner. But now he's back and happy with his new companion, who I'm sure gives him unconditional love.

LoL @ Patty. I'm sure he's ready to go back to work right about now. We have a house full of kids. Our 8 yr old and 3 of her cousins aged 9, 9, and 10, all girls. he's outnumbered by the females right now, including the cat and dog. LMAO

Lordy, he must be looking for someplace quiet about now. Probably looking forward to a quiet fun time with wife and daughter and pow wee, surprise, bedlam. Hope they're not doing a sleepover, just a day thing. He needs some relief from all that girl power.

He has his iPod with earbuds in to try to block everything out. The poor dog is worn out. She wants to nap but she keeps going from room to room to check on the kids. LoL
They won't be spending the night (thank God) because they will be going back to their mom's house tomorrow. Their dad is hubby's brother and he gets them every other weekend.
