Amal Clooney was the epitome of business chic on Friday when she was spotted in New York City.

The 37-year-old British barrister cloaked her svelte frame with a two-toned overcoat while leaving Jean-Georges Restaurant during the day. 

And then later in the evening, Mrs George Clooney was seen with her parents at the Public Theater in a white lace mini dress and brown suede coat.

Amal covered her black dress with a navy and white coloured coat which was cinched in around her thin torso with a color coordinated belt.

She looked to be in good spirits after a business lunch with her colleagues.

The high-profile lawyer hid her eyes with a pair of brown cat-eye sunglasses and wore her long brunette tresses in natural curls.

She elongated her lean legs with a pair of white stilettos for an overall elegant work attire.

The star accessorized with strappy white high heels and a clutch that color coordinated with her suede outerwear.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as her mother Baria also wore a lacy white outfit.

Joining the ravishing ladies was patriarch Ramzi Alamuddin, who looked dapper with a striped pink tie.

As of late, Amal has been out of the classroom and taking a break from her teaching position at Columbia University. 

Her latest human rights battle includes fighting for the release of imprisoned former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed.

On Thursday, Amal defended the former president at the National Club Press declaring Nasheed's detention a violation of international law.

'He is a political prisoner. He's currently serving a 13-year sentence in a Maldivian prison following a sham trial,' she said at a news conference in Washington DC.

Meanwhile, Amal's family spent some quality bonding time with actor husband George without her on Thursday night at Il Buco restaurant in Noho.

Unfortunately for Amal's look-a-like sibling Sister-in-law Tala Alamuddin, she had a less than glamorous moment when she was pictured taking a tumble with no one to help her in sight.

The elegant event planner lost her footing while strutting on the cobblestone pavement in sky-high, glittery Giamba heels. 

George - who celebrates his 54th birthday next Wednesday - stayed close to father-in-law and red lace-clad mother-in-law.

I love the coats and it is sweet she is holding hands with her dad.

George saw Hamilton a week or so ago and must have really liked it.  He probably thought Amal would love the music.  Very contemporary and historical.  

I like Amal's fashion choices. That navy and white coat is stunning.  Tho I wouldn't put them together I like that she wore the lacy and very feminine dress last night and put it with a suede coat.  It's unexpected and  plays to her quirky, spontaneous style.  Not everyone could get away with the pairing but I've come to expect  it from her and she usually makes it work.

I agree. It was sweet to see Dad and daughter holding hands.

I really liked both these outfits. The blue and white coat is very elegant and ladylike. The white dress looks really nice with the suede coat. George has really good taste in womens clothing.......

I think it's  nice that she is holding hands with daddy.
