ohhh what a night!!   Hope your kids are better and you can get some rest.

Thanks everyone, its good to come here and share and find sympathetic understanding ears when you need it most. Poor little bub of mine is now on steroids for 3 days (makes her very hyperactive and completely irrational, so there may be a few stories in the days to follow) and ventolin every 4 hours. Although she is not asthmatic this particular nasty virus is making it hard for her to breathe properly so plenty of fluids and rest and she will be fine.

The Dr told her she must sit down and try to rest, no running around etc - her reply was, I will try but Daddy says I have ants in my culo (culo Italian for bottom). Always with the last word -

Well, bless her little buttons! You tell her that all her aunts here want her to get better!

Poor thing....I don't come to chit chat often so I just saw this. I hope she feels better soon. Oh and try to get some rest yourself...

Theminis hope they are better already! With kids it can be dramatic, but they recover fast too

Can't remember who it was with the spiders, but my aunt just told me that they hate conkers so "just" place a few conkers on windowsills and other places of entry and apparently they won't come in. No idea if it works, but might be worth a try for those who have horse chestnut trees.

It was I who posted the photo of the spider, update after living with it for an entire day, was going to leave it in peace but the damn thing upped the ante by moving towards me so I sprayed the crap out of it, it crawled off to a corner to supposedly die but the next day it was gone!!! No idea where it went but as long as I don't see it I don't care. As to conkers?? and horse chestnut trees, absolutely no clue what you are talking about, haven't heard the term conkers before so will google it. I have decided to leave the house for a day whilst the exterminator sprays our home to keep all the nasties out...

Oooh, you're brave. We have these huge spiders where I live (about the size of my hand) which aren't dangerous, thankfully, but they've got balls: when you spray them with insecticide the damn things run towards you! #notafan

I´m scared of those things. If I see one I start to imagine they are everywhere...
But I can´t kill them. Just this fall there was one that came from the terrace to inside black, big coléoptère. I tried to catch it with a little box. It was running away and somehow I got it finally but it looked like I had broken it´s leg(s) and I put in the grass, maybe it belong to sand...

Seriously I was thinking about it even next day, with bad conscious  

Where spiders and other nasties are concerned I have to be brave, my youngest is fascinated and not scared at all, so the last time he came inside carrying a redback spider (they can kill you and thank god it didn't bite him) I then went from trapping spiders under a glass to all out warfare. He had named this spider Bertie and thought that as I had left it alone most of the day it was now our pet!!! I haven't found it so wouldn't be surprised if I come across it in his toybox. You will hear me scream from wherever you live if that happens!

Great theminis. You got a killing spider as a pet at home called Bertie and no one knows where it is hiding.     Do I ever want to be invited in your house for tea??? NOOOOOO  

I would recommend you try to explain your youngest how cute dogs are   That's a much better pet    

I think it is amazing that children are not scared of things what adults like us feel scared about. Kids just do how/what they feel.

Well lets remember that my 4 year old thinks its a PET and I think its a PEST and since Im bigger than him I win, them's the house rules till he's bigger than me LOL.

Sorry I have not been keeping up to date on Darfur but it will be sometime before I go back to twitter and doing hours on the computer. I was in the hospital for a week with Acute Renal Failure so all I am doing is trying to keep up with what's going on with George. Sorry for the lack of news.xxx

Speaking of biographies (from a different thread) has anyone seen/read the Angelica Houston biography?

I read that it's so immense that they had to put it into two volumes.

The second volume won't be out until later.

But the first book is called  A Story Lately Told: Coming of Age in Ireland, London and New York.

Apparently the first part is her early years growing up with her father John Houston the legendary director.

The second volume is about her Hollywood / adult years. A allegedly Jack Nicholson told her to keep her mouth shut about him and their time together so maybe that second part is still getting vetted by a legal team to make sure nobody can sue.  Or at least not win a lawsuit.

Should be interesting to see what the second volume holds!
