That's so cute! Oh... if I would have read that when I was younger, I would have been following him the whole time! Too bad I was a late bloomer!

I remember browsing through the magazine rack back then and reading that article. I remember being surprised at seeing the article read that George is from Lexington, Kentucky. Since his dad was in show business in Cincinnati, I always thought that George was born in Cincinnati. I kept up with George even then because the local Cincinnati newspapers would mention the latest George TV appearance.

I didn't know that Nick was working in LA at the same time that George was there. I thought his time in LA was when George was just a child. That must have been odd.

I remember in 1984 when Nick made the public announcement on the news program that he accepted an anchor position in LA. He seemed sad that he was going to leave Cincinnati. Everybody in Cincinnati was shellshocked at hearing the news, because Nick and his family were regarded as neighbors by all of Cincinnati.
Nick stayed in LA for 1 or 2 years, then went to Salt Lake City, Utah for an anchor position there. He returned to WKRC-TV in Cincinnati in 1987 as a late-night news anchor.
Ada was born in LA in 1960.

That was interesting MM. Thanks. Maybe that's part of George's joke about the family moving when the rent was due. LOL

LOL, Cindi!! But, Nick had a job from 1989-2006 for the Cincinnati Post newspaper, writing a column three days a week. He shared a lot of stories about Max the pig.
Actually, the rent joke originated with Nick. In real life, during the Great Depression, Nick's grandparents (whom he and his sisters were living with after their parents' divorce) would often move when the rent was due, simply because they could not pay it.

I knew Nick had worked in LA but had no idea that it was at the same time George was there.
So after doing everything he could to dissuade George from going to LA, a year or two later he moved there himself! I wonder what George made of it?
George has never said anything but I always had the impression that relations between him and Nick were a little strained at that point but maybe I'm making that up in my mind? Would George have moved in with his parents again then?
I know he only spent one year at Rosemary's and I always wondered where he went after that. I just assumed it was the usual round of shared rooms etc.
Thanks so much for sharing that.I remember in 1984 when Nick made the public announcement on the news program that he accepted an anchor position in LA.

Re: Teen Beat interview February 1986
George bunked with buddies that he had met the first year he lived in LA with Aunt Rosemary, after Rosemary kicked him out of the guesthouse. No, George would never have moved in with his parents, even in LA, he is way too proud to have done that.
Here is the the Nick/L.A. story: George told his dad about opportunities in LA, so Nick decided to give it a go. But, personally, I think it was more than that. I believe that Nick wanted to "keep an eye on George" so that he would not have the same bad experiences as Rosemary did in Hollywood. JMVHO.

Personally, I think even though Nick and George get along for the most part, there is father-son rivalry like all fathers and sons have at times. They butt heads, argue, etc. but they would feel badly if something did happen to the other one. George is a chip off the old block.
