The Directors Guild of America posted their nominations...GC didn't get a nod..
Los Angeles – Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford today announced the five nominees for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2011.
“The directors nominated this year for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award have each demonstrated an inspired command of the medium. The fact that their prodigious talents have been recognized by their peers is the highest honor a director can achieve,” said Hackford. “I offer my most sincere congratulations to each of the nominees.”
The winner will be named at the 64th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland. The nominees are (in alphabetical order):

I am so aggravated that Fincher got in there and squeezed George out of this one...THIS is the nomination I was hoping for IDES. Damn!

i think IOM did very well and yeah sure i wanted him to win but as you said he can't win everything!! he had a great year in a very strong year!!

I think he still has time for a great movie to win a DGA it usually takes directors awhile doesn't it?

I'm committing the cardinal sin of not bothering to look it up, but is this award voted on by other directors? In that case is it possible they don't yet see George as a fellow director but more as a hobbyist?

The DGA is voted by the Director's Guild of America, and it is other directors. I don't really think it is an issue with George being an actor. I just think there were some really good directors and films this year, and he just got edged out. Ides was great from an audience perspective, but Directors are a funny bunch and see a lot of things we don't. I often go to movies with a friend of mind who is a tv director, and he sees things that bug him that would never bother me.
