Clooney not retiring on subject of age
I know we've read this before in the Parade interview, but I liked the picture they used:

Clooney not retiring on subject of age

George Clooney isn’t kidding himself about getting older - but that didn’t stop the Hollywood hunk, 50, being shocked when his subscription to American Association of Retired Persons came through the door.
“Are you kidding?” he joked during the interview with US magazine parade. “I told them they should do Sexiest Man ‘still’ Alive.”
He says he sees the physical signs of aging in himself. “I look at myself in the mirror and think ‘I don’t look like I did when I was 40, I know that.”
He says he respects the way Paul Newman aged in his career. “I loved the way he handled growing old on screen,” he said. “It’s understanding that you are basically now a character actor. Which is fine but you have to pay attention to it.”
But Clooney says aging does come with benefits. “I find that as you get older you start to simplify things in general. By the time you get a subscription to AARP, which I just got, you have some idea of who your friends are at least,” he said.

do you think he'll take advantage of senior citizen discounts?

Well, there are so many discounts available that he could benefit from: travel discounts (planes, ships, car rentals), drugstores (condoms, lubricants, dental products, pregnancy tests), movies. Oh, I can't think of anymore right now. Still drinking my first cup of cappacino of the day. Will come up with some more. Oh yeah, I'm sure he'll become addicted to the Word Search each month in the AARP magazine.

Sorry, pregnancy tests? Why would anyone over 50 need to even buy one, let alone deserve a discount??!

He may need a pregnancy test for one of his ladies in his harem - you know, just in case?

It seems that at 50, in USA, we are consider Senior Citizens (don't understand why so young myself) and if we belong to AARP, are entitled to discounts on a wide array of goods and services. Don't they have AARP equivalent on your side of the Pond?

Yes we do, but it starts at 60. I was just wondering why pregnancy tests would be discounted because it doesn't seem to me to be something in great demand by the over 50s. It was more of a lighthearted quip than anything else.

Yes, it was but as Cindi said, he might stock up for his girls of the moment just in case one of them says "Oh, I'm late and you're the only one I've been with" or some sh*t like that. He was a boyscout and they're always prepared.

Actually, in the US, we are considered senior citizens at 65/70 (retirement age). Years ago, when people had shorter lifespans, 50 was old age (the golden anniversary/golden years). So, for business purposes, they use 50 as AARP.

Re: Clooney not retiring on subject of age
You're right, MM, but as far as AARP is concerned, with discounts, etc. 50 is the key. Legally 65/70 is the norm, however, there are a lot of people who "retire" at 50, too. And today, in this economy, there are so many who can never retire.

Re: Clooney not retiring on subject of age
You're so right, people are working well into their 70's, and when they do have to retire I don't think there's going to be as much money for them as earlier retirees. Sad affair in this country.
BTW the Scooter Store is selling scooters for the people still working. (Fits behind the desk.) LOL

That's me, unfortunately. I'll have to work until I die of old age.

I read on some of the other "questionable factual forums" that G had smartly made preparations to prevent a lawsuit from "ladies" desiring a gorgeous, smart, charming baby. Your opinions? Davida-Rochelle

Well if the rumors are true about him getting the vasectomy years ago, he shouldn't have to worry about that. If he had it done, he would need one of those at home paternity test kits when one of his 'ladies' says she's late. Wonder if they have discounts on those? Lol

HPT would be a practical thing to have MGK. If those vasectomy rumors are true (and probably are) it would sure shut down those claims. Condoms are still a good idea, you know for safe sex. Some ladies seem to spread their wealth around.

That's so true. Some of those girls are generous, aren't they?

Unforetunately, they are. I often wonder if they hate men, because of their generosity. Same holds true for men who are as generous.
