As it's so quiet on the George front (hello UK paparazzi, you slackers!) I fell to imagining George making a film with Alfred Hitchcock - and liked the idea.

Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, just cause the thought of such handsome men working together puts a smile on my face, also they all had long careers as actors turned directors. Mike Nicholson might be a nice mix with George.

I'd like to see Gee do a good murder with Anthony Hopkins (the villain?), maybe Gee should be the sweet destroyer??!

For a RomCom, maybe Mike Nichols. For a good drama, I think GTC would be just fine. For a good war movie, Katheing Bigelow. For a good sci-fi, George Lucas.

Cecil B. DeMille – I think he had great insight and a great visionary. He made great movies!

Are you talking about Cecil B. DeMille? If so, I didn't know that. But regardless, I wasn't talking about personal views I was referring to directorial talent. Why do we judge everything on personal endeavors? Because he was wrong about a personal matter that makes him a bad director? Please enlighten me!

Ooh, I didn't think about Clint Eastwood. That would be a good combo.

New generation? Tom McCarthy
Old generation? Frank Capra in his idealistic period would probably be the best match most days , but sometimes I think that good Irish-American Jack O' Feeney (aka John Ford)would have been great.

So many great opportunities missed due to history's quirks. Sigh.
I can't help but think that out of all of his contemporaries, George is the one who is most likely to still have had a successful career in Hollywood even if he'd been born one or two generations ago. Although I'm not sure if the world would have been ready for George Clooney and Cary Grant in one film!

Wow! Love that image!
(and totally agree. His movies (written, directed etc) have all been throwbacks to a different kind of Hollywood.

I like that George wrote and dirigesse himself in a romantic movie. And 'the only side of him that I can not understand. But he should write it (not like he did in all the films he directed to take stories already written). I would reveal a mystery. Gee and love for me is a mystery

George doesn't seem to do many romantic movies, and I think his approach to directing romance would take on the comedic side of him, as "Leatherheads" can confirm. I think real romantic scenes like "Out of Sight" or "The American" had, would be better directed by someone who could choreagraph(spelled wrong, I know) them and not give away too much of himself.

Lela said "he takes stories already written."He is the first to admit that he "steals" scenes from other movies. When he announces that he almost seems proud of it. EX "I stole that from ....."

Hey, how about a real hot love story directed by his "favorite" director of all time - David O. Russell. I bet that would be a real blast.

Correcting my thoughts: yeah, I find it hard they would work well...or ever again, hahaha
I forgot to mention Scorsese or maybe Woody Allen (it would be interesting).

Oh sure, it could be featured as him and David Russell - both of them wrestling on the mat, butting heads and then kissing and making up. LOL

Doesn't do to live in NY/NJ and be serious. Too much sh*t happens around us for us to not look at the funny side of life.

One day at a time. That's my philisophy. You never know. Just the other day there was a boy sleeping in his tent in NJ and a brown bear stuck his face in and tried take off this head. He's OK now but I'll bet he's grateful for another day.

GC likes Capra, no ? I like Capra, so why not. I'm a huge fan of Eastwood too, so again, why not ? And what about George directing Eastwood, I'd love to see him try.
And Soderberg at his best is great (don't always like him, but when I do I like him a lot), so i'd like another go with George
