George and Amal Clooney: their mansion again in the grip of a natural disaster

As Storm Christoph hits the UK with full force, George and Amal Clooney’s mansion in Berkshire has once again suffered heavy damage, Vanity Fair reports on January 26.

Another blow for the Clooney. This Tuesday, January 26, George and Amal Clooney were sorry to learn that Aberlah House, their luxurious 17th century British mansion, located in Berkshire, was again in the grip of a natural disaster, reveal our Spanish colleagues from Vanity Fair.

Less than a year after storm Denis, which literally ravaged the couple’s land as well as their tennis and basketball courts, the estate is in fact flooded again. due to the arrival of storm Christoph. And for good reason, the couple’s mansion is located in the immediate vicinity of the Thames which, due to heavy rains, largely invades their garden and the facilities it includes.

A real heartbreak for George and Amal Clooney who, fallen under the spell of this county located in the South of England, had initially wanted to raise their twins there. Before the birth of Alexander and Ella, the actor and his companion had also spent the tidy sum of 12 million pounds to expand their mansion and build a pavilion to accommodate their babysitter. Very quickly, however, Prince Harry’s intimate friend, fearing for the safety of his children in England, expressed the wish to move to Los Angeles. “He feels that Amal and the children are not safe in the English countryside “, then specified the Daily Mail. Since then, the Clooney’s have divided their time between California, Italy… and Berkshire, which they ultimately never decided to leave.

Thanks, PP.  That's an odd article, isn't it?  They're quoting Vanity Fair and The Daily Mail, but don't give any links to those stories.  It's weird not to give a link to the source of an online story. It's also most definitely not written by a native English speaker.

Still, they bought land surrounded by a river that floods, so no doubt they knew what they were in for.

Right, here's the Mail's version of the story:

Oceans HELL-even: Aerial shots reveal rising river creeping towards George and Amal Clooney's £12m mansion in flood-hit Berkshire village

George and Amal Clooney's £12million mansion has fallen victim to Storm Christoph - after flood water from the swollen River Thames seeped onto the lawn.

The 17th-century, Grade II-listed house in the celebrity haunt of Sonning is located on an island in the river, which past the edge of their grounds.

Photos taken today showed a large pool of floodwater on the grass near the riverbank - although thankfully the summer house and tennis court appear to be unaffected.

The Hollywood star and human rights lawyer moved into the secluded home with their twins in 2016, after an intensive 18-month long refurbishment.

The Clooneys paid an undisclosed sum for the listed property, which was put on the market for £7.5 million, in September 2014, a couple of weeks after their three-day wedding extravaganza in Venice.

Last year the high-profile pair applied for planning permission for an outhouse to bolster security as the famous home attracts more tourists.

It comes as thousands of people across the country brace themselves for more flooding in the wake of Storm Christoph as the Met Office warned of ice danger and said the UK is set 'to get more wintry' with -10C over the weekend.

Oh thank God for that!  I couldn't sleep for worrying about the summer house and tennis court! So glad the Mail were able to put our minds at ease.

I think the photos are old and from the last time this happened.

What some people don't realise (understandably) is that the garden is four acres long (wide)

- and the lawn is quite a lot of that! You can briefly see it in George's weather 'forecast' on

John Krasinski's show........

Could it be they look like the old photos because the flooding is in the same place? The lay of the land hasn't changed, so I guess one flood photo looks pretty much like another. Either way, it doesn't look like the house is in danger.

Although the flooding is relatively unusual - global warming etc in a short space of time

Checked this out and the first bit of pix/story was from a new local agency in Wokingham -and then the

rest of the footage was from good old Splash News, possible archived stuff............
