George Clooney - still getting neck surgery and diagnosed with arthritis

George Clooney had neck surgery this morning, and they gave him fentanyl. “I'm out of it now,” he says, not seeming out of it at all. Clooney shows me the neck brace they sent him home with. It's the typical big white priest's collar thing, which he has decided not to wear, except when he needs some sympathy. Then he'll reach for the brace and put it on and grin like George Clooney.

The neck surgery was relatively minor, for a disk problem, but when the doctors got in there, they found all kinds of other stuff too. “It looks like arthritis, unfortunately,” Clooney says cheerfully. “Which: Hey, isn't it nice getting older?”

Can't believe he's still regularly getting surgery on his neck! But now arthritis too? Poor guy.

The disk problem was the result of a 2018 motorcycle accident Clooney had in Italy, or maybe it started before then.
George said in an earlier interview he was much better so I don't know if that first incident has anything to do with this surgery.

Good point. I just assumed it was the old injury aggravated again by the accident. Come to think of it, he had the small motorbike accident when he was dating Sarah Larson, didn't he? I guess none of it helps in the long run.

In a way not really, Katie.I would have thought the Syriana accident created a few

weaknesses, and all the dreadful surgeries he had for that as well as the constant pain.

I thought he'd had several specialist operations (I think something like Duke being mentioned)

And then the odd bike accident or three.....

Going head-first into someone else's windshield doesn't help, either. The way he describes that last motorcycle accident, it was guaranteed to give him neck problems. And he's right about getting older aggravating old injuries.

He’s certainly been banged up over the years. It adds up. I’m glad he’s found a way to live with his pain. I think it’s hard to avoid arthritis especially if a person is older and has had bone breaks or trauma to their neck and spine.
