A parliamentary inquiry turned incredibly awkward when high profile human rights lawyer Amal Clooney's live-stream malfunctioned.
The inquiry, which is before Federal Parliament's foreign affairs committee, is looking into laws banning international criminals from Australia. It is also considering passing the Magnitsky Act, which would freeze human rights abusers' assets in Australia.
Ms Clooney, the wife of Hollywood star George Clooney, experienced technical issues when she attempted to join the inquiry via videolink on Friday morning.
As technicians scrambled to figure out why Ms Clooney's audio was not working, a member of the inquiry was heard saying: 'It would be sad to lose the video but the sound's going to be more important if that's our choice'.

Another person could be heard laughing at the comment.
After more moments of silence, the audio was restored and the inquiry was able to get under way.
During the inquiry, Ms Clooney will be joined by high profile silk Geoffrey Robertson and Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza.

The act would allow Australia to name and shame people linked to breaches of international law or corruption.
The laws are named after lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, who died in a Moscow jail after accusing Russian officials of tax fraud.
Advocates have previously told the inquiry the laws should extend to the family of human rights abusers too.

Awkward: Technicians scrambled to figure out why Ms Clooney's audio was not working during the inquiry on Friday
The Lebanese-British lawyer has been involved in United Nations commissions and tribunals in the past.
She is also the Deputy Chair of the High-Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom.
Earlier this year Ms Clooney lobbied the Australian Government to adopt the proposed laws that would impose sanctions - such as travel restrictions and bans on owning real estate in Australia - on human rights violators.
