George Clooney just revealed that he’s been held at gunpoint in Sub-Saharan Africa - and it sounds like it's happened more than once. It was when an interviewer asked the actor about the scariest situations he's ever been in that he casually made the revelations, replying that he’s had a lot of moments where he’s thought ‘oh well, this might be it’.
‘I’ve spent a lot of time in Sub-Saharan Africa and pulled out of trucks with guys putting guns to your chest,’ he told metro.co.uk, while promoting his new Channel 4 series Catch 22 last night. ‘I’ve been in some funky spots. We were trying to bring attention to South Sudan and things like that. It’s a small group of people, and crazy stuff can happen.’ He continued, ‘There are a lot of those “Oh well, this might be it”. That was part of life, of what you do.’
Clooney attended the premiere last night with his wife Amal, who looked dazzling in a silver, strapless dress. The actor - who produced and partially-directed the TV adaptation - stars as Lieutenant Scheisskopf in the dark comedy set during the Second World War, which will air on Channel 4 soon.
Recently, the 58-year-old shut down rumours that he was going to be a godparent to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's baby. While on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Clooney proclaimed that he shouldn’t be the godfather. 'That would be a bad idea,' he said. 'I shouldn’t be the [godfather]. I’m a father of twins I can barely do that.' He then added, 'I’m not going to be the godfather. I promise you that. I’m fairly sure.'
