George and Amal Clooney are building a shed for 'security purposes' in the grounds of their sprawling £12 million listed mansion home, it can be revealed today.
The Hollywood star and human rights lawyer moved into the 17th century home, in Berkshire, in 2016, after an intensive 18-month long refurbishment.
In a planning request to the local council, their new addition - complete with what appears to be a toilet - is described as a simple, single-storey timber construction with a pitched roof clad in cedar shingles.
The couple's Georgian home, which stands on an idyllic stretch of the Thames, is secluded by trees on acres of land - but it appears the high-profile pair are keen to beef up security as the famous home attracts more tourists.

It will be built in the style of a garden shed near their gravel driveway at the Georgian property.
The planning application said: 'Development proposals comprise the construction of a single outbuilding for security purposes.
'The proposed outbuilding is to be clad in reclaimed timber boards and the roof covered in cedar shingles. The form is typical of a garden shed with a simple rectangular footprint and a pitched roof.

'The proposed outbuilding is intended solely for incidental use in connection with main dwelling house.
'The proposed location is within a landscaped bed between the gravel driveway and the gravel parking area outside the main house. The existing landscaping will screen views of the outbuilding from the house.'

The 'garden shed' security base will need to be built well back from the River Thames which runs alongside the Clooney's home and regularly over-tips its banks into the lawned area following periods of heavy rain.
South Oxfordshire District Council was expected to make it's planning decision in the next few weeks.
The Clooneys, who live in the house with their children, have been virtually invisible in their home village, screened by foliage.

The Clooneys paid an undisclosed sum for the Grade II-listed property, which was put on the market for £7.5 million, in September 2014, a couple of weeks after their three-day wedding extravaganza in Venice.
The village is a higgledy-piggledy mix of half-timbered houses, some dating from the 13th century, and more austere Georgian properties.
The interior, comprising almost 11,000 square feet in total, was completely overhauled and original features retained - but the interior now has a light, modern feel compared with the more traditional fixtures of old.
Staff quarters include a professional kitchen (neighbours says the Clooneys have an Italian chef), bedroom and office.

At night, the sandstone property, with its newly relaid Yorkstone terrace, is illuminated by floor lights.
A walkway connected to the house leads to a glasshouse and a spacious pool house looking out over a 60ft swimming pool, hot tub and a terrace of reclaimed Yorkstone, lined with a row of pine trees.
Next to the pool is a shaded oak pergola area in which the couple can relax after a dip. The emphasis has been on making everything appear natural and organic.
Within the state-of-the-art leisure complex is a 12-seater private cinema — a must-have for a Hollywood superstar like George.
A short walk from the pool is an AstroTurf-covered tennis court surrounded by a black netting.
The long lawn leading to the river has been re-laid and fitted with a subterranean irrigation system.
There is also a gym with accompanying shower and changing area and the boathouse, which has its own landing stage, was also been refurbished.
One of the most romantic areas of the property is the River House. This was knocked down and rebuilt, weather-boarded and has stone steps leading down to the river.
