Katie, what appears to be happening is that all their official statements are posted by them on their Instagram account, and then deleted and altered the minute they get any backlash or negative comment. They have appointed a specialist in this stuff who seems to be working around the clock! It's naive of them to think that people are not going to notice and that's where some of the backlash has come from - apart from the odd fact that the public funded quite a lot of their wedding (a mere 32 million). Huge sympathy for the Queen in all of this - according to many reports she was forced to contact them and ask what their Christmas plans were at a very late stage.

Lack of respect, arrogance and a completely different perspective on Harry abounds.

I see that Oprah has put out a statement that she has not advised them in any way which has also been reported. Nothing fromHis Nibs yet........

It's funny now they say the Queen had to ask about Christmas but it was stated that Harry had let the Queen know  they wouldn't be there for Christmas. I think the only thing we will ever know is they just want out. i don't expect the truth from
Buckingham Palace anything that paints Harry and Meghan n a bad light will be stated. Apparently, Harry was speaking with them about the change . He was told he had to put it in writing , he didn't want to he said because when things  in writing  get leaked. Sure enough on Wednesday the fail had an article about the changes so Harry decided to go forward and make the announcement to stop the speculation.
They aren't a normal family, that is obvious it seems like the royal part is more important than the family which to me is sad.
Just my take but i think as a family they should have all got together and talked it out. No courtiers just Harry the Queen , William and Charles . i think the Monarchy will be fine the whole problem will be placed on Harry and Meghan .

Annemarie - Who can take the titles, house and money? M&H or the family?

I wonder if Harry really understands how different his life will be if they cut all ties to being royals. He might suffer the same culture shock Meghan did when she became part of the royal family. It turned out not to be what she expected at all. Leaving could be the same for Harry.

I'm also wondering how they plan to make a living. Will she go back to acting? Will he start a business or go to work for someone else? Or will the royal family continue to give them financial support?

Final question: Are there comparisons being made to the abdication of Edward and his marriage to Wallis Simpson, because that came to my mind when I saw the press coverage?

Lizzy, the only comparison that could be made is the fact that Harry is English and Meghan is American - and that's it.

Edward was King and chose to abdicate - the consequence of that ultimately was that the Queen ended up by accident being monarch with all the responsibilities of Commonwealth etc  from a very early age (22 I think) and shouldering that responsibility.

And the irony of that now is that when Charles acceedes the throne, he will have a divorcee
 as his consort or queen.

Harry is a bit down the pecking order now but it is the funding and money for him and his family is probably the biggest issue as far as the public are concerned - and their thin skins at not taking criticism when the person trying to help them is 93! They seem to want it both ways for many - and even American friends of mine can't understand what they're playing at

I think it is a shock for everybody that Harry is suddenly like this and has cut his ties with his brother and sister-in-law - and disregarded his mother's advice. He has changed

From where I stand and what I read, and know third-to-fourthhand, the negative Brit attitude seems to be more offended than anything. Like, how could they?! It's the monarchy! And that Meghan just isn't grateful enough. I don't get it. Are they supposed to stay miserable because taxpayers foot their security bills and underwrite their living quarters? They've paid for a lot worse.

And, of course, there are the comments that she should never have been a royal anyway.

To me, they seem to have taken an honest assessment of their future and what they want in it, and decided to proactively move toward that, rather than accommodate the monarchy - to which Harry will never ascend - just to be unhappy. Makes perfect sense to me. Harry knows the life, even if Meghan is new to it. He knows what he's doing.

And what is all this talk about Charles cutting them off? So what? Meghan has money. And Harry has his inheritance from Diana, right?

They want their son to grow up seeing his parents self-sufficient and learning to be the same way. Birthright of the former empire won't rule his life. Like I said, good for them.

I think it is a shock for everybody that Harry is suddenly like this...

I don't know exactly what "this" is, but I don't think his misgivings about leading a royal life for the rest of his and his family's is sudden at all.

Sorry, but after watching the hosts' intro and about a minute and a half of the "friend's" commentary, I stopped. I found the rhetoric inflammatory and biased, and the tone gossipy rather than insightful. No idea who this man is or if he's really close to Harry, but from what I heard, I wouldn't want a friend like him.

Harry isn't saying he is no longer a royal. He's not leaving his family. He wants to cut way back on his duties as one of the faces of the monarchy, and "cutting ties" is a way for him to establish an identity separate from - and not beholden or inferior to - his big brother, who is, bar other developments, the only one who's going to be king.

As I said, none of this is new to Harry. He's known and lived with it all his life. He wants something different, and I think being married and having a son provided the strength he was looking for. People keep treating this as some kind of disaster. I simply can't see it that way.

No, it's certainly not a disaster, but the timing may be a bit off given their six week holiday. And sometimes I think posting on social media constantly and then trying to eliminate the dialogue and the comments they don't like is a bit silly.

I think the biggest concern I would have if it were me, is the perception that they want a round-the-clock security service - and for that their independent funds may not be enough, estimate a million plus a year (the wedding was 4) -
and to continue in the house they've spent millions of taxpayers' money on. It may have been rotten timing and better to make the announcement after all this has been sorted -
because they're also going to have a huge legal bill for suing three national newspapers

Harry is a 35 year old married man with a family. He’s old enough to make his own decisions. I listened to the photographer talking so positively as to the kind of man Harry is and can’t understand why he would leave his royal responsibilities behind. I would assume Harry thought long and hard about this and he and Meghan came to this decision together. It seems both are unhappy as to the way their life was going and felt the need to make this incredibly brave and important change in their lives for the sake of their future together. I trust they know what they are doing. Harry is all too aware of the fractured lives all the royals have led. Possibly he wants to avoid that scenario playing out for him and his wife. There has been so much gossip written about the two of them that it’s hard to know what’s truth and what is just hype or even lies. Meghan is being portrayed as the villain in all of this and is telling in itself. I support what they are doing. I wish them lots of luck.

Well, I don't know anything about, and haven't heard talk of, their social media habits. And we don't know what they're asking at this point, other than to step back from frontline official royal duties. They've said they're in transition. They're working towards something; it's not finalized. I don't see either of them as the type of people who would sponge off the taxpayers and do nothing in return. But you can't expect them to just rent a U-Haul and move their stuff out of Frogmore in a matter of days.

My guess is, though, that if they're pushed hard enough the wrong way, they would.

This gentleman did seem to me a bit hurt, for himself and the rest of the press, by not having been kept in the loop. He seemed to me to be saying that he had covered Harry all his life and so Harry should stay in England so he could keep covering him as always. Never mind if Harry was unhappy or if Meghan felt mistreated. They should just "soldier on" as Charles did through his miseries - even if it takes years - so the status quo can be maintained. I guess that's easy to say when you're not the one who's miserable, but the one making a living off that misery.

Another note, as to the timing...

If they had stayed with the family during the Christmas holiday, then announced their decision, the story would be that they're in a snit over an incident that happened during a family gathering, and leaving is a tantrum. (Someone has already proposed that they were peeved about a couple of pictures.) Instead, they took a quiet six weeks away to discuss their plans, free of the pressure and influence they would have surely gotten at home, which is quite mature, if you ask me.

... Which, of course, you didn't. And I think I've made my opinion known, so I'm done.

Meghan: 'I've said for a long time to H – that's what I call him – it is not enough to just survive something. That's not the point of life. You've got to thrive and feel happy.”

Beautifully expressed and a very true sentiment.... don’t know about you but in my life I’ve spent more time than I would like to just surviving.....sometimes years...

It takes a special person to detect it so early ... and deal with it so succinctly....

No matter what mess I’ve ended up in, I cowered and put up and shut up, put my shoulder to the wheel and whistled a happy tune in my head .... and existed, survived .... haven’t we all, all of us here ....We longed to thrive and feel happy .... but something got in the way, something we put before our own “feel happy”...

Meghan said above in an interview aired around August that she has “said for a long time to H”.... How long?

It seems bizarre to me that so soon into marriage/motherhood/ Royal duty monumental decisions were being pondered ....

It is even more bizarre to talk publicly about the need to “feel happy” on a tour that has taken in some of the most devastating results of war .... no thanking God or Lucky stars for a healthy baby  and flight home far away .....
just a “thanks for asking if I’m ok nobody asks me if I’m ok” wtf....your legs not hanging off!!!

The above sentiment shows the mind of an intelligent woman .... All roads lead to Rome and in Meghan's mind she is Rome ....

WWHS - Maybe just a tad harsh. We don't know that she isn't grateful every second for the luck she has had. And why shouldn't she appreciate someone caring enough to ask how she's doing? Newly married into a formidable family, new mother, constantly scrutinized  - it must have been immensely difficult to get used to. And to be fair, how many of us think "at least I'm better off than ...." when we're feeling stressed? Unless a major disaster has passed us by we usually judge ourselves against our peers, not against those truly less fortunate.

Don't begrudge them the chance to be happy just because so many others are not.

How was the production? Did they actually make it rain onstage? If they did, did they provide umbrellas for the audience? I hope you had a good time. Wheee!

Unfortunately for them, that's how it must be. The royals are something like a brand - individual chief executives and senior managers may come and go, but the brand must continue on, and all decisions must be made that benefit the brand's longevity, rather than the people in it.

Too true! The Brits just love complaining about things, and they particularly love complaining about people who seem to be better off, as though there's some sort of cut off point that stops people from having problems when they've reached a level of income and/or fame.

To be honest, no idea - don't think she in herself was all that rich. Her family money (the Spencers), such as it is, would have gone mostly to her brother. Did Diana have all that much from the divorce from Charles? No idea what they could do for a living that isn't in some way going to be seen as leeching off the royal connection. I'd guess the smartest thing would be to pay themselves a salary (but not too excessive) from their charitable foundation.

Well, I have a ton of work to do and lots of family obligations today, but looking this up was so important Smile ...

Diana got $17-22.5M lump sum personally and $400-600K per year (for her "offices," whatever that means), according to three sources. When she died - pardon me, was killed - she left $10M each to William and Harry. Reportedly, they each began taking yearly stipends of $400K per year when they turned twenty-five.

Meghan's reported net worth is $5-7M.

So unless Harry is monumentally dumb and reckless, and Meghan has spent every penny she ever made, and neither of them has ever learned how to secure wealth, and they both decide not to work another day in their lives... they should be okay.

I've seen estimates that Meghan is worth @ $5 million from her stint in "Suits" ($50,000 per episode for 7 years) and other acting jobs. I think most of us would consider that a pretty good starting point. I've seen Harry's net worth put at @$40 million, but I don't know if that includes, or is in addition to, the money he gets from Charles and his inheritances.

The papers here are full of ways they can build their own "brand". Whatever they do, they won't be hurting for money, although I suspect their expenses may be higher than they expect if the family doesn't continue supporting them financially.

A couple of things - their 'offices' means their offices and the paid staff who run them. If, say, they move to Canada and want to continue with Metropolitan Police 24 hour security whilst not working for the Royal Family which is what they've asked for,  that will cost them, and the British taxpayer a lot more, and there will a tax bills from both countries for Harry.

The footage of Harry asking Bob Iger to give his wife a job at an event was a bit of a surprise.....

I saw something online about Meghan signing some kind of a deal with Disney. Don't know if it's true.

I think Diana's death still haunts Harry and he's afraid the same kind of pressure will fall on Meghan, so he's trying to get away from the fishbowl of royal life in the U.K.. Maybe he thinks it won't be as bad in Canada. I hope he can work things out with his family. It would be truly sad if he lost their emotional support.

PAN, why would the British taxpayers have to pay for protection for them if they aren't working royals anymore? Wouldn't they have to cover those expenses themselves?

In some peoples eyes if you have a drop of black blood your not worth anything.n Instagram and face book there
were very nasty things written about her and even the baby.

i think the fact that the rags kept writing their crap didn't help . Harry was born into this the firm and knows exactly how it works. I think he simply wants to distance himself and his family from it. I don't think he wants to hurt his grand mother.

I think the only thing sad about it is that it's being turned into a battle of loyalties. Harry doesn't want to leave his royal family; he just doesn't want to be front and center as the face of the monarchy anymore. Whose lives does that affect, really, besides his, Meghan's, and Archie's? What it comes down to is that there is a difference in priorities between Harry and the rest of his family. That can be reconciled. There really is no earth-shattering issue here.

Yes, it's been only two years. But it seems to me they're planning for a lifetime.

Who would condemn her for being biracial? Seriously? Meghan has been called every ugly racial epithet in the book since day one. A lot, if not most, of it comes from the supposedly proper citizens of the 'kingdom,' though the US racists have contributed their expected fair share.

If she has post-natal depression, which I doubt, then it's best they step back and take care of her and their family, out of the limelight. But I think Harry's worry is over how much his wife and son would have had to put up with as time went on, and he's taking action now before it gets out of control. But I also think that's only a part of it, and probably the smallest piece. Harry has never struck me as the type to do things a certain way just because that's the way it's always been done. This is as much for him as it is for Meghan, and Archie, I think.

At this point I just hope they're able to work something out that doesn't cause further estrangement from their families and offers them some peace. Whatever we, or the media, think is irrelevant.

Queen Elizabeth says she supports Harry and Meghan's plan as royal summit ends

The royal summit over the future roles of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan of Sussex concluded Monday with an endorsement from Queen Elizabeth II herself about what her grandson seeks to do, and a promise that "final decisions" will be reached in coming days.

Shortly after 5 p.m. local time, Buckingham Palace released a statement from the queen in which she described the discussions on the future of "my grandson and his family" as "constructive."

"My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family," the statement said. "Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family."

She said Harry and Meghan made it clear they don't want to rely any longer on public funds in their new lives.

"It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the U.K," the statement said. "These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days."

Prince Harry, his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles arrived for a royal summit at Sandringham to address the crisis set off by Harry and Duchess Meghan's historic announcement last week to step back from their senior royal duties and live part time in North America.

It is as yet unclear whether Duchess Meghan joined her husband Harry over the phone for the rare sit-down meeting with his grandmother and senior royal courtiers from all the relevant households.

There was no immediate announcement about the specifics of what was discussed or any decisions made. The palace said the queen's statement, sent to USA TODAY via email, would be the only comment of the day.

Buckingham Palace previously confirmed to USA TODAY that Harry would sit down with his brother , father and grandmother for face-to-face talks to discuss a resolution of the crisis that arose last week after Harry and Meghan announced their plans with little warning.

Meghan, who is in Canada, was expected to participate via phone but that was not officially confirmed ahead of time.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's plans have been widely attacked in Britain as unworkable, and amount to a painful split of the royal family.

The royal summit took place at Sandringham, the queen's private estate in Norfolk about 100 miles north of London, where she typically stays between late December and early February.

Save for Meghan, the same group participated in a conference call on Friday, according to the Associated Press, quoting British media reports. Buckingham Palace confirmed that day that Duchess Meghan had returned to Canada to rejoin 8-month-old baby Archie.

Harry remained in the United Kingdom to deal with the fallout from the Sussex desire to change their royal roles, which has produced a fierce media storm. Overnight Sunday into Monday, reporters, cameras and media trucks appeared outside the gates of Sandringham to await news.

Everything we know about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's historic royal announcement

Prince Charles arrived at Sandringham from Oman late Sunday after attending the official mourning ceremony Sunday for the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who died Friday at 79 after ruling the country for 50 years, as a representative of the queen.

Prince William traveled from his home at Kensington Palace in London and Harry from his and Meghan's home at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate west of London.

Ahead of the meeting, Harry and William issued a joint statement challenging the accuracy of a story in a London newspaper Monday about a severe breakdown in the relationship between the two brothers.

Their statement, sent to USA TODAY in an email from Buckingham Palace, denied a report in the Times of London that Harry and Meghan felt driven away from the royal family due to alleged "bullying" by William and his wife, Duchess Kate of Cambridge, who were supposedly unfriendly to Meghan.

"Despite clear denials, a false story ran in a U.K. newspaper today speculating about the relationship between The Duke of Sussex and The Duke of Cambridge," the statement said. "For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful."

By 2 p.m. local time, both princes had arrived separately at the sprawling estate, according to the Daily Mail and the Evening Standard.

Buckingham Palace said “a range of possibilities” would be discussed at Monday's meeting, the Associated Press reported, but the goal was to agree on next steps to take to resolve the crisis. The unusual royal gathering follows days of talks among royal courtiers and officials from the U.K. and Canada, and any decisions will take time to be implemented, the palace said.

The meeting comes less than a week after Harry and Meghan dropped their bombshell announcement on Jan. 8: They want to step back as senior members of the royal family, become "financially independent," spend less time in the U.K., and still continue to "fully support" the queen through charity work and royal tours.

The couple said they will split their time between the U.K. and North America but did not specify where on the continent they plan to set up shop. Meghan and Archie are currently somewhere in Canada, the country in which she previously lived while filming the television show "Suits" and one of the largest of the U.K.'s 53 Commonwealth nations.

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, lives in Los Angeles, sparking speculation that the royal couple could spend time there .

"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity," the couple's statement said.

About an hour after the announcement, a statement from the queen's spokesperson suggested Harry and Meghan's attempts to step away wouldn't be quite as simple as they implied.

"Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage," the statement said. "We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."

On Thursday, Britain's national news agency, Press Association, reported that the queen had ordered officials representing her, Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan to meet and find "workable solutions" within "days not weeks."

On Saturday evening, the palace confirmed that the queen had called a meeting of the princes and their top advisers for Monday.

Meanwhile, Harry does have at least one royal engagement scheduled this week: He's due to host the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draws at Buckingham Palace on Thursday. Harry has been royal patron of the Rugby Football League since he succeeded the queen in 2016. No plans to alter or cancel the engagement have been announced.

What choice did Harry have living in the U.K. and having his wife constantly berated by a malicious press? When would it have stopped? I don’t know how true the infighting within the Royal family was but if it is true I think it just made for an untenable situation. Seems to me that Harry and Meghan will be far better off in the long run separating themselves from this toxic situation. I would think the financial issues will work themselves out over time. And it will take time.

I think they probably have less money than they'll need - their lives aren't cheap, what with offices, security, staff, travel and so on, and whatever Meghan may have earned, she'll have had to give at least half of it to the tax man. But as he's related to some of the richest people in the country, I'm not all that bothered about them; they'll make it work one way or another.

I didn't particularly take to Meghan when they first began dating because - please forgive me, American friends - as a foreigner, she really didn't seem to understand what royalty means and i'm not sure that she does yet.

I think she thought it was just another level of fame; and as an actress, fame is certainly something attractive to her, but of course it's not. Royalty is the soul of a country. Even if there was never another photo of the queen and no mention of her ever again in the media, she'd still be queen. She'd still be the head of our country and the so-called head of our church. In her veins she (in theory at least) carries the blood of kings and queens of this country going back centuries. Royalty doesn't have to be beautiful, or accomplished, or well-dressed or even - if we read our history books - nice or intelligent. Royalty simply has to be.

O.k., totally changing the subject for a minute. As most of you know I have recently discovered Michael Ball/Alfie Boe and I have become OBSESSED (I admit it! Embarassed ). I also know that most of you wish I would shut up about them already. Well, after this I will.

I just watched the DVD of Michael Ball's "Alone Together" one man show at the Donmar from a while back. If you have a chance to see this, PLEASE DO!

It's a stunning performance from an artist at the top of his game - and I don't say that because it's Michael Ball. It would be just as impressive  a performance from anyone else. Forget his voice and showmanship. Just the astonishing feat of getting through what amounts to a 90 minute medley of one song blending into the next. How anyone could remember all that boggles the mind. And the songs! Wonderful choices!

I don't know where this is available to watch. I found the DVD on Ebay and bought it because I had read reviews that called it a "must see". They were right. Very Happy

(Now I'll shut up, and I'll try not to keep pounding you all over the head with B&B, I promise.)

PAN - Thanks. I saw the tour schedule. Since I won't have my new passport til God  knows when, that's out. Sad Sad Sad I found the radio show, too, but haven't had a chance to listen.

That one little clip is totally not an indication of how impressive this concert was. The medley in the first act runs through almost 20 songs - almost non-stop. Amazing!

I know you're all probably sick of hearing about them from me, but this was just so exceptional (to me, anyway) that I had to tell you about it. Definitely not the usual B&B music, very different but well worth a listen.

Katie - Sad Sad You're breaking my heart!!!!!!!!! Sad Sad Is it him or is it the kind of music he sings, or ( What a Face ) is it his voice? Or maybe it's because he's been around so long in the U.K. that he's become background noise? Do you feel the same about his work with Alfie Boe?

I first saw MB in the 10th anniversary production of Les Mis on our PBS station and thought he had a great voice. Then I completely forgot about him until a few weeks ago. Our local PBS station broadcast the 25th anniversary concert of Les Mis and that made me want to hear more. I do love his voice, but what I really love is the concerts he does with Alfie Boe. They're just so much fun to watch because the two of them seem to be having a great time. No politics, nothing pulled from the headlines - just good, silly fun and beautiful (for the most part) music.

I'm sorry you don't like him. (I really would like to know why.) I'm trying hard not to keep posting about them, but the Donmar concert impressed me so much I had to share. Sorry. Embarassed

Hahaha, go ahead and post away.  We're here to share each others' passions even if we're not really into it ourselves.  Lord knows, there's not enough Clooney news to keep us going!

Not sure what it is about him that I don't like.  I think that in general I'm not into light entertainment as such (I think that's the box he sits in?) although he's a good singer.  Just not my cup of tea.

Katie - Very Happy You're way too kind! However...since you give me permission to be a pest...

What kind of music do you like? I love everything (except opera Embarassed . My tastes are definitely not so cultured! Very Happy) MB is most definitely in the category of musical theater/pop/standards - what you could call light music, I guess - although he has done opera, too. He's also done some rock. Watch the Wham medley he and Alfie did at Leeds, or their medley of Queen hits (all on YouTube). They're pretty good and a lot of fun.

I'd love to know what other posters think of them. I'd also like to know what music the rest of you guys like. Being from so many different places, with so many different cultures we must have some interesting differences in musical taste, no?

(P.S. Katie - I'm not sure it's MB's musical genre I like so much - although I do like it - because I'm not a huge fan of Josh Groban or Michael Buble who, I think, fall into the same category. And it isn't entirely his voice, although I do really like that too. Embarassed I think maybe it's the dimples! (I've always been a pushover for dimples! Very Happy )

Oh, I'm a sucker for dimples too, but just not Michael Ball's it seems!

I listen to classic during the day time then pretty much anything with a hard beat (colour me electro dance) in the evenings.  But also have a soft spot for pop,  trance and what I call 'new age plinky plonk' music - think the stuff they play in the spa.

How about everyone else?

Smile Is "plinky plonk" music what we used to call "elevator music"? Sort of generic instrumental covers of pop songs?

(It still makes me sad that you don't like B&B because I enjoy them so much, but it's o.k.. At least you have music in your life. I had a B&B cd playing and one of my friends asked me to turn it off.  She said "I don't like music. It's a distraction." Now, that's truly sad!)

That's an absolute no! One thing I really can't stand is covers of music. No, it's the sort of music you'd hear in a spa or for mediation - I prefer the sort without whales and dolphins but will take what I can find!

As long as we're not talking Yanni or Enya here I get it. Not a huge fan of whalesong myself and when I want something soothing I prefer jazz (or lately B&B, but I won't belabor that point).

I don't mind covers if they're done well. (Ex: Whitney Huston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" was amazing - and, IMO, much better than the original - or K.D. Lang's version of "Hallelujah!" which is brilliant and blows everyone else's version out of the water!)

Honestly, I like almost all music and I truly envy anyone talented enough to make or create it because I can't! Sad

I know what you mean about loving music.  Ohh, if only I could sing!

Anyway, anyone else in chit chat apart from the two of us???

Any thoughts on the oscar noms?   This is the first year ever for me where I've seen many of the films so I'm pretty interested.  For best film, I'd like to see Ford v Ferrari win - it's a weird choice, I know,  but it's because I haven't seen 1917, marriage story, parasite or the irishman.  I liked Jojo Rabbit, but think there are too many flaws for it to be Oscar worthy.  Joker and OUATIH would have been good had each been an hour shorter, and Little Women would have been good had it never been made at all.

For best actor, I'd kind of like to see Antonia Banderas get it because he was absolutely wonderful, but I wouldn't be sad to see it go to Joaquin Phoenix.

Lead actress for me has to be Renee Zellwegger.  Much as she annoys me, but wow.  Haven't seen Harriet or Marriage Story.
