Aggiornamento 11 febbraio 2019: Sky ha appena annunciato che la serie Catch-22andrà in onda a maggio su Sky Atlantic. In concomitanza con l’annuncio di Hulu, che rilascerà la tutta la miniserie il 17 maggio, Sky Atlantic ha rilasciato anche il trailer in italiano.

Articolo del 20 dicembre: Prevista per la primavera 2019 su Sky Atlantic, Catch-22 è una nuova produzione produzione originale Skyco-prodotta con Paramount Television, Anonymous Content e Smokehouse Pictures che in USA verrà rilasciata dal servizio streaming Hulu.

Nelle foto rilasciate vediamo i protagonisti in scena: Hugh Laurie nei panni del Maggiore de Coverley, Christopher Abbott nei panni del giovane soldato americano John Yossarian, Kyle Chandler che interpreterà il Colonnello Cathcart e George Clooney, che sarà Scheisskopf. Un comandante di addestramento ambizioso e sadico che renderà un inferno la vita dei giovani cadetti. La serie, girata in Italia tra Lazio e Sardegna, vedrà nel cast anche Giancarlo Giannini.

Catch-22 su Sky Atlantic: la trama

Catch-22 è una miniserie in sei parti tratta dall’omonimo romanzo del 1961 scritto da Joseph Heller (in Italia con il titolo di Comma 22).
La miniserie è ambientata nel nostro Paese durante la seconda guerra mondiale e racconta la storia del giovane aviatore John Yossarian. Il suo vero problema, più ancora che i nemici, sono i suoi stessi superiori, che continuano ad aumentare il numero di missioni in volo da completare prima di poter ottenere il congedo e tornare a casa. Un modo per evitare di dover combattere ancora ci sarebbe e Yossarian vorrebbe provarci.

Per riuscirci, però, il giovane dovrà usare il paradossale Comma-22, che stabilisce che chi è pazzo può chiedere di essere esentato dalle missioni di volo. Ma nel momento stesso in cui fa tale richiesta, dimostra automaticamente di non essere pazzo. Solo un pazzo infatti vorrebbe continuare a volare quelle missioni.
La miniserie è diretta da Clooney con Grant Heslov e Ellen Kuras, registi di due episodi ciascuno. La sceneggiatura dei sei episodi invece è firmata da Luke Davies e David Michôd. I due sono anche produttori esecutivi insieme a Richard Brown e Steve Golin per Anonymous Content, e ai già citati Clooney e Heslov per la loro Smokehouse Pictures.

Feb. 11 (UPI) -- George Clooney portrays a World War II Lieutenant in the first teaser trailer for Hulu's upcoming six-episode limited series, Catch-22.

The clip, released on Monday, brings to life the famous Joseph Heller novel of the same name about U.S. Air Force bombardier Captain John Yossarian, portrayed by Christopher Abbott.

John is attempting to fulfill his service requirement for the Air Force while his superiors, Colonel Cathcart (Kyle Chandler) and Scheisskopf (Clooney), keep giving him more missions.
Clooney is executive producing alongside Grant Heslov, Richard Brown and Steve Golin. The actor directed two episodes of the series along with Heslove and Ellen Kuras who also serves as a producer. Luke Davies and David Michod are co-writers and executive producers.
Clooney was originally set to portray Colonel Cathcart before stepping down. Hugh Laurie also stars as Major de Coverley.
"Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid his military assignments, he'll be in violation of Catch-22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind; a man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions," reads a synopsis.
"But a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty."

Catch-22 is set to arrive on Hulu on May 17.

Thanks benex.  The trailer packs a punch.  Looks good.  The characters in the trailer come across as wacky and eccentric as in the original movie.  Fingers crossed!
