A story claiming George and Amal Clooney’s twins have caused Meghan Markle to get “baby fever” is fake news. Gossip Cop can bust this made-up report. The phony “exclusive” largely ignores reality.
Two weeks ago, it was reported Markle and Prince Harry spent a weekend at the Clooneys’ Lake Como home. During the visit, the newlyweds met George and Amal’s twins for the first time. Now HollywoodLife is announcing in a headline, “Meghan Markle Has Baby Fever After Hanging Out With George & Amal Clooney’s Twins.”
Contends the site, “After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited George and Amal Clooney at their Italian villa last month, Meghan started having ‘baby fever’ thanks to the couple’s adorable twins.” To give credence to this tale, the blog quotes a so-called “source close to the duchess,” who claims, “Being around the children definitely gave Meghan a touch of baby fever.” This untraceable snitch alleges, “She’s gone into super crazy baby making mode since leaving Italy, which obviously Harry has no complaints about.”
Getting even more personal, the website’s purported tipster asserts, “They both agreed that Meghan would stop using contraception once they were married, and that they would let nature take its course, which is exactly what they’ve been doing.” To be clear, HollywoodLife wants readers to believe that someone “close” to the Duchess of Sussex is openly discussing with a gossip outlet how she and the duke are getting it on, and doing so without contraception. That simply isn’t believable.
What’s also not believable is the idea that Markle suddenly got “baby fever” because she spent time with the Clooneys’ twins. Not only has Markle spent the last few years developing a close bond with the children of her friend Jessica Mulroney, who served in her bridal party, but she has spent nearly a year living at Kensington Palace with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and, most recently, Prince Louis. But it’s a single weekend with George and Amal’s 1-year-olds that suddenly made Markle want to be a mom?
Furthermore, Markle dropped a hint about her future baby plans back in March, months before the weekend in Lake Como. Looking at a company’s presentation of baby products in Ireland, she quipped, “I’m sure at some point we’ll need the whole thing.” Even HollywoodLife itself, as Gossip Cop pointed out on Twitter, purported to know in May that Markle and Prince Harry were having “hot baby-making sex.” So what do the Clooney twins have to do with it now more than three months later?
Simply put, it appears the online publication is pulling one of its typical moves: It is taking something that was in the news (the weekend with the Clooneys) and making up a related story (the Clooney twins gave Markle “baby fever”). And bizarrely, that related story is coming two long weeks after the original news. In that time span, not one other media outlet reported anything about the Clooney family inspiring Markle to start a family of her own.
It’s pretty much a given that she and Prince Harry one day will. But it’s rather apparent that HollywoodLife’s insight isn’t real, which was also the case when the site claimed to know Markle’s baby plans more than a year ago.
