George Clooney’s wife Amal Clooney is not worried he’s going to eventually become a bad husband, despite a ridiculous report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told it’s completely false.
The latest issue of New Idea randomly dredges up a 1995 interview with George’s first wife, Talia Balsam, who was married to the actor from 1989 to 1993. At the time, the actress said her divorce from the star was “difficult and upsetting” because he was more focused on his career than their marriage.
Balsam made these comments more than 20 years ago, but the tabloid is now ridiculously asserting that Amal “has really been hit” by the actress’s words. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “She really thought she knew George, but Talia’s claims have really made her think again.” Once again, Balsam’s claims were made in 1995.
Still, the outlet’s supposed source says Amal is worried about her husband going back to his old ways and putting his career before her and their 10-month-old twins. “He abandoned Talia and some are worried Amal may suffer the same fate,” adds the seemingly phony tipster. “George balks when it comes to changing diapers. He leaves all the household decisions to her and goes off with his friends without her. It’s all about George and how he feels.”
The “insider” further contends that Amal confronted George over his first wife’s comments, adding, “She can’t help but think he’s hiding something from her and it’s thrown their marriage into crisis.” The questionable source concludes, “She just can’t believe that he made his first wife so miserable, and is worried she’ll end up the same way.”
But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who wasn’t able to go on the record, but exclusively assures us the magazine’s article is completely fabricated. In addition to being untrue, this story also doesn’t make any sense. Balsam made her comments about the actor 23 years ago, so why would this issue only be cropping up now?
George is a different person than he was nearly a quarter of a century ago, and his views on marriage and children have changed. Back in 2015, around six months after he married Amal, George said on “Good Morning America,”“Everything’s different now. I couldn’t be happier.”
In fact, Balsam had only nice things to say about George as of 18 months ago. While promoting the HBO series “Divorce” in 2016, the actress said her ex-husband “is charming,” unlike the obnoxious character played by Thomas Haden Church on the show. “He remains charming,” she added.
Despite what Balsam may have said more than two decades ago when her divorce was still fresh, it’s clear she doesn’t still hold a resentment towards the movie star. It’s quite confounding that the tabloid decided to make up a bogus story based on a decades-old interview.
Additionally, Amal gushed about her husband in her cover story for the May 2018 issue of Vogue. The human rights lawyer even revealed, “George was very careful to ensure that ‘Mama’ was the [twins’] first word,” so New Idea’s assertion their relationship is “all about George” clearly isn’t true. Regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm the Clooneys’ marriage is going strong, and Amal isn’t worried about that changing.
