It seems that the project was the idea of the Los Angeles Police Chief's Association. I'm guessing the program is specific to L.A. and its surrounding area. Each year in October during breast cancer awareness month police officers in the L.A. Police department wear these Pink Project badges on their uniforms to help bring awareness to the communities in which they patrol. Seems like a thoughtful and smart program.
