George Clooney and wife Amal splash out a whopping £10k on rowboat for their luxurious Oxfordshire love nest
Their multi-million pound love nest has been under renovation for 18 months.
Yet George Clooney and his stunning wife Amal are continuing to perfect their Oxfordshire paradise as it has been revealed their latest purchase is a £10,000 rowboat.
The 55-year-old E.R. star is set to move into the home with his human rights lawyer spouse, 38, after a reported £20million worth of renovations, although the boat is their latest treat.

On your boat: George Clooney and his stunning wife Amal are continuing to perfect their Oxfordshire paradise as it has been revealed their latest purchase is a £10,000 rowboat
The Clooneys paid an undisclosed sum for the Grade II-listed property, which was put on the market for £7.5 million, in September 2014, a couple of weeks after their three-day wedding extravaganza in Venice.
After dramatic renovations to the property, with a total overhaul of both the interior and exterior of the home, the boat is possibly one of the less lavish purchases.
Locals said the pair would use their new boat for rowing trips on the Thames. One said: 'It’s good to see the Clooney’s making the most of the English countryside. But we’re hoping the river bank won’t get packed with excited middle-aged women.”
Planning documents submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council, and publicly available on their website, reveal, the building work commissioned by the couple has turned an illustrious property into a sumptuous home.

Plush: Now the building work has finished however, difficulties have been resolved and tranquillity restored, while the finished product has been declared a Grand Design on a truly monumental scale

What she wants: George is said to have told the builders at the start of the project: 'What Amal wants, Amal gets'
Remodelled during the Georgian era, the house, stands on a five-and-a-half acre island on one of the most idyllic stretches of the Thames, at Sonning Eye, which marks the boundary with Oxfordshire.
George is said to have told the builders at the start of the project: 'What Amal wants, Amal gets.'
The brief was to create the perfect family home — whatever the cost. Not long afterwards, intensive renovation work began, with a 20-strong workforce tasked to create a dream family home.
For many months, the villagers endured a cacophony of building work. The skyline, for a time, was dominated by a 200ft crane, the streets filled by a constant stream of HGVs and goods vans going to and from the property.
It was reported that neighbours had expressed their annoyance when there were complaints about the height of the poles on which CCTV cameras were to be placed, and concerns about the position of the wooden fence erected around the island perimeter to repel intruders attempting to land on the island from the water.

Re: George and Amal purchase row boat
Question: Is £10,000 a lot of money for a new rowing boat? Very hard to tell how they've made that deduction from the pictures......
Not a lot of stories for the click bait news? Ah, something out of nothing-day

Re: George and Amal purchase row boat
A. I'm confused. Are all the buildings in the pictures part of George's property? If not, it really isn't all that private.
B. If he spent over $10,000 for a freaking rowboat he's a total ass! Does it come with oarsmen and a slave to fan them, too?! Damn! He can't be that out of touch with reality!

If that covered thing is the "rowboat", it's not. I've rowed a boat and it didn't cover like that. I think the age "28" was put there on purpose. Just the Daily Mail's way of spreading out the age difference. They're idiots.

Mel, I think that "covered thing" is either a motor boat or speedboat - neither of which should cost that kind of money unless you're an ostentatious show-off trying to impress everyone with how rich you are - and that was NEVER George before - unless we know a lot less about hm than we think.

I think they've picked a number out of the sky, Lizzie. There's nothing there to give them a clue about the manufacturer or supplier. It's just something attached to the summerhouse. There's also a boathouse attached to the house (much like Como) on the Mill Race side.
Maybe we should just ask Soho House........?

Re: George and Amal purchase row boat
My first thought is how does the DM know how much this boat cost? Or what kind of boat it is? "it was revealed" is how the DM put it. Now if they know those two things what is the boat constructed of? I don't know a damn thing about boats but I did a quick google of them. Depending on what materials they are made of or if it is custom made any boat can be quite expensive.
My second thought is this is George's business. There are many, many things that George purchases that we are not privy to.... either what he buys or what he pays for those things. It certainly isn't my place to criticize how much he pays for anything. He made his fortune and he will spend it any way he pleases.
I think the DM is so obvious in how they play both sides with their stories. They are so transparent. They fall all over themselves to lavish compliments on George and Amal and then will turn around and sometimes insinuate or down right claim that George is extravagant in his spending and is a hypocrite when it comes to his humanitarian causes. Bottom line anything to get extra clicks. But so often they have failed with the facts ..... at least when it comes to their celebrity stories.

A row boat? Row? HaHaHaHaHa!!! With George's back and Amal's toothpick arms, they wouldn't make it three feet from the dock.

Re: George and Amal purchase row boat
Perhaps it's a punt. The DM don't always get things right, as we know. I can just see George in a colourful stripy jacket and a straw boater hat whilst Amal would be wearing a designer floaty dress and have a beautiful parasol to shade her from the sun. They'd have a picnic hamper and a bottle of champagne on ice. They would be floating down the river while the paparazzi line the bank flashing away.
Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

LOL! Hebe, lovely picture but they'd have to import a gondolier from Venice or just let the current take them where it will. I think Way2Old is right. If either of them had to propel the boat they'd never get more than 3 feet from the dock!

Especially if they keep the rope tied to the dock.
