PP- I, for one, am super-glad you decided to check out COH. I'd join you in a glass of Casamigos if I could get one (they still don't sell it in my neighborhood!) so I'll make mine wine. Here's a toast to you sticking around another year!

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
It's a very proud day to be Irish.
An example of where we have come from, just a little over 20 years ago I was in a pub in Dublin and introduced to a guy I said loudly "Hi your John"s gay buddy" the guy went bright red and said "keep your voice down I could get arrested"......He was right homosexuality was a criminal offence.....The last thing you would want to do is incriminate anybody, cause suspicion.....you can imagine the atmosphere......
We as a Nation have come such a long way in a relatively short space of time and yesterday bought us thundering into a new era.....
I think 2 women were very important in this whole process.....you see we not only had to change attitudes but hearts minds and beliefs.....
Ursula Halligan, anyone interested read below. A newswoman in the old style (like George's Dad) She always gets her story and asks the difficult question. The older population have enormous admiration for her style of journalism.....Ursula is a great journalist....We know her so well, every night chasing some politician or other down the street micro phone in hand. We never knew she bore the heavy weight of a secret....
Please please read this it says more than anything why today on my small little rock. We are proud....
This story was only published over a week ago, to me it was the biggest game changer....
http://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/ursula-halligan-referendum-led-me-to-tell-truth-about-myself-1.2212960
Here is another lady with input.... not so emotional, but equally valid....from my surrogate Mammy.....

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
Slowly we chip away at mores that are only fabricated in our own minds. There are certain mores that make sense. Don't kill. Don't steal. Follow the golden rule and treat others as you would wish to be treated. Don't lie. Have integrity. Those make sense. Don't marry close family as it could affect the health of any off spring. Those make sense.
But so many "things" we have thought were wrong are often not as bad as they might seem.
As the second video makes the point - inter-racial marriage was taboo for many years. Different races married and the world didn't end. If anything, I've seen some stunningly beautiful interracial children. Hmm.
Same sex partners want to marry? Who does that harm? Society? Um the raising of children? Interesting that so many adopt children that no one else - with their expectations of perfection - would even consider adopting. And they certainly understand persecution so perhaps they will teach their children more tolerance and compassion?
I'd rather a gay person adopt a child than a rigid, "Christian" who denigrates and persecutes anything and anyone who doesn't live up to their view of what perfection should be. And more appallingly, use "GOD" as the reason for their bigoted hateful views.
Good for the Irish. Seems to me they've got more sense than the rest of the world.

Thanks for the video PAN.....Yes Lorna I have always believed that the second coming will happen when a child is born with the DNA of every ethnicity.....Do you remember the song, Melting pot, with the line "Coffee coloured people by the score"....We just need one....Could be born here too.....We are on a roll...
I hope you read Ursula's story ....you would need a heart like a swinging brick not to be moved by her story....which is in reality the story of a member of every family in this country, if not the world...

MOVIEDAY-movies on demand
http://www.cinemaitaliano.info/news/28125/movieday-il-cinema-a-richiesta.html
Movieday, by February 5 on line
From 5 February is the online landing page "Movieday, cinema as protagonists", the first Italian web platform to organize screenings at the cinema. Viewers can choose from the catalogue masterpieces of every age, premieres and independent films, deciding the room and arrange with friends and fans their screenings at the cinema.
Every year in the world are produced approximately 50,000 new films. In Italy, in spite of this, they are distributed only 0.9% (about 450). This means that a universe of content remains submerged and dispersed without finding a way to reach its audience, while many other films remain out a few weeks, preventing viewers to enjoy it fully.
For these reasons, born Movieday, a project with the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo, winner of "Cultural Innovation IC 2014" and supported by FICE, ACEC and Europa Cinemas.
Taking advantage of the new technologies of information and social disruptive phenomenon of the sharing economy (economy of sharing), Movieday has created a platform that customize l'offerta halls allowing direct distribution of film content through public requests.
How? Thanks to a catalog of cult movies, documentaries and previews in the original language, with the support of a network of affiliate halls throughout Italy, a growing Community and a shared passion: the love for cinema.
The public will be able to organise unique events by clicking on the web what movie to see, in which cinema and on what day.
Thanks to Movieday today is born a new cinema experience.

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
This is kind of random, and I'm not sure where it fits, so I'll just throw it in here.
I was in on a podcast with some female writers and directors yesterday, and a sidebar discussion developed about how the "major male stars" and producers rarely work with or hire female directors. Of course, someone said, "Clooney, for instance. He's supposed to be so 'equality for all,' but look at his record."
So I felt compelled to point out that 'The Peacemaker' was directed by a woman, and so we're episodes of 'ER' and (probably, but I haven't checked) 'Sisters.' And he's currently in a movie playing basically a supporting role to a young woman.
Boy, did I get it. I was missing the point. I was defending him because I've been brainwashed by his image. I'm enamored of Amal.
After I pointed out that everyone that runs Smokehouse on a day-to-day basis is female, and that even though George may not have a ton of women in the films he directs/produces, he pays every one of them their quote, which most of the studios don't do, I was pretty much put out of the discussion.
Interesting. George has people mad at him, and he knows nothing about it.

Funny way2.....
I think because he has this "Bachelor" Image and had in the past different women that makes it maybe more difficult for others to see that he supports women in that Business.
I think men like George need to do more to get women more directors Jobs. It is a mens world.

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
Maybe all these women read the article that we discussed a few weeks ago. The one in the LA Weekly about How Hollywood Keeps Out Women. Remember the producer Diana Ossana claimed G ignored her at the Venice Film Festival when she was there for Brokeback Mountain.
Did these writers/directors single out anyone else good or bad? Just curious. Was this more like a bitch session or were they serious in their discussion.
I'm sure George could do more to include creative women in his projects. Every male director and producer could do better for that matter.

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
First of all, that "we're" in the third paragraph of mine should be "were." I'm on the damn Kindle and keep forgetting to correct autocorrect (which, BTW, replaced "autocorrect" with "sufficiency").
Anyway, this started as a serious discussion, and as long as it stayed away from specific people, it was fine. But the minute George's name was mentioned, it went all to hell. And, no, he wasn't the only male star mentioned (every man in Hollywood was thrown in, except Apatow and Feig) but George definitely generated the most heated discussion -- probably because he's out front as an 'equal opportunity' guy.

You're enamored of Amal? These women have no idea!!! And they sure don't know you.
Do you feel this group was a realistic representation of the creative women in Hollywood? And did they really know much about George or were they just reciting the hype that's generated by the media. Bottom line, did they know what the hell they were talking about?

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
The number of women he doesn't work with is maybe a public perception - and I still think naming him is guaranteed to get the story out there. For one woman producer to be brushed off could mean any number of things - including the possibility of her not being liked because she moans a lot (I theorise you understand!)
It is interesting that no one seems to register the number of women producers who consistently back Smokehouse films - but then if all anybody looks at is the headlines that's to be expected

Re: May 2015 Chit Chat
I don't know about what goes on behind the scenes, but in front of the camera, George has been one of the most 'guy friendly' people on the planet (sorry, it's 1am and that last sentence may not have come out quite the way I meant it to!)
Pretty much all of his films, from Oceans onwards are all about guys doing guy stuff. If there's a woman in the film, she's the love interest. That's pretty understandable: George is a guy and he makes films that are interesting to him personally.
======================
On a completely unrelated note, I'd like to let you all know (scream it from the rooftops!) that my new year's resolution will be fulfilled on Saturday. Yep, I'm getting laid.

Anybody here still watching 'Scandal?'
I hadn't seen it 'live' all season, but would watch episodes one or two weeks after airing. So I just finished the last two.
SPOILERS (I can't figure out how to do it for real on the Kindle. Sorry. Anybody, feel free to do it for me.)

SPOILERS (I can't figure out how to do it for real on the Kindle. Sorry. Anybody, feel free to do it for me.)
- Spoiler:
- Obviously not a die-hard fan anymore, but if Olivia and Fitz are going back to the mooney eyes and groping, I'm done for good. Geez fucking Louise.
Two seasons ago, I would have been appalled at the idea of Huck being killed or not being a Gladiator. Today, I say "Good riddance." Did they ruin his character beyond redemption, or what? I thought I developed a disliking for Quinn. Huck' s deterioration beats hers by a mile. I won't miss that angst-filled, catch-my-breath, pity-me monloguing. After what he did, even Olivia couldn't have him as a Gladiator anymore anyway. I hope Quinn shot him in the head and nuts and then fed him to the feral dogs in Southeast DC.
How the fuck does Fitz get to be so self-righteous, after everything he's done and sanctioned? I think the writers forget what they've had these people do.
Rowan Pope will be missed. I hope he comes back on an occasional basis, at least. But Morton has a new gig, so I don't know.

Way2Old - I have to confess they lost me at the first episode this season.
- Spoiler:
- After watching Olivia wuss and whine for an hour I was hoping they'd jut shoot her and put her - and us - out of our misery. The conceit that they would ransom her because she was the president's mistress was ridiculous. I think they've jumped the shark in a big way.

Yeah, I almost didn't go back after that fiasco of a plot. I really wanted to see what they'd pull out of their asses after that, though. The new and supporting characters saved them from utter ridiculousness, IMO.
