Is there controversy behind-the-scenes of Disney's 'Tomorrowland' starring George Clooney?
By Will Ashton, 11/24/2014
You may not know Walter Murch by name, but if you are a film fan, you're probably familiar with his work. Widely considered one of the best editors of all time, he is the man who put together such classic films as Apocalypse Now, The English Patient, and The Godfather: Part III, to name a few. While he was set to stitch together Brad Bird's latest, Tomorrowland, it appears the legendary editor may have been fired from the film, as some recent rumors report.

The rumors began on Reddit, when a user wrote the following two days ago:
"I saw Walter Murch speak last night. He started his speech saying he planned on talking about what he was working on, but he wasn't allowed to anymore since he had been fired that day. Just an interesting tid-bit from a talk given by a truly genius level creative mind."
The user finished his post with the following statement: "Disney fires best editor ever."
Investigating further, Slashfilm tried getting in contact with Bird, to no avail. They did, however, get an interesting response when they tried contacting him on Twitter. When tweeting to him about the rumor, they didn't get a response. The secretive filmmaker did, however, favorite the tweet, suggesting there is both some truth to this and that this firing wasn't one ending on good terms.
Of course, this does not confirm Murch was fired from the film, but it does seem a little fishy how these events are turning out. More details to come in the near future, most likely.
Starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson, Tomorrowland enters theaters on May 22, 2015, whether Murch has his name on the film or not.

Also Murch said in March the film is fascinating and that he has known Bird
since the 80s, though it's their first chance to work together.
