I guess it is time for People's sexiest man alive award? Here is Lainey's take on George. But she gives the best odds to Chris Pratt, who I never heard of.

Arguments for:
-The MiniVan Majority always wanted him to stop being a bachelor
-Wedding of the year
-His wife is SO interesting!
-His activism: George has become more than a movie star. So if you’re looking for “sexy” beyond just having a good body and a handsome face, he’s your man
-There hasn’t been an SMA over 50 since Harrison Ford in 1999. Time to represent for maturity?
-That older PEOPLE demographic can’t get enough of George. He’s the dream guy, he’s always a candidate.
-He sold his wedding photos to PEOPLE. Could there be another deal here in exchange for honeymoon shots?


Arguments against:
-Not promoting anything right now
-Some people got sick of his excessive wedding
-Some people aren’t into his non-American wife
-Is he too old?
-He’s already held the title twice.
-Does he want it? There’s been speculation that he’s statregising for a political career. So if he wants to be taken seriously, accepting the SMA a greedy third time might not be part of those plans.

OH not Chris Pratt please. He isn't a star without all the Marvel influence and I've never felt that he is attractive. Let alone being sexy. Many more true movie stars deserve this title. I'm betting on Mathew for a second win.

Sexiest Man Alive in 1999 was not Harrison Ford but Richard Gere, who was 50 then and had just announced he was gonna have his 1st child with then girlfriend Carey Lowell - the irony was that ike George, he had claimed more than once not to want children. He and wife Carey are now in the midst of divorce.

  Harrison Ford must have been SMA long before that - he was SO sexy and smart in The Fugitive.

People's Sexiest Man Alive is NOT the same contest as People's Choice Awards.  I think this current conversation is in the wrong thread.

It'll probably be McConaughey.  Meh, I've had my McConaugh-fill this year.

Gosh I really hope Disney would get George in China next summer promoting Tomorrowland.
They've got RDJ and Angie with Brad this year, we just need more superstars to be here. 
We're the biggest foreign market for Gravity  though just Alfonso Cuaron came here. 
Maybe that's because we love the Tiangong saves Sandy plot!

I'm actually not sure George would accept it at this point. Possible political aspirations aside, he's spent the better part of the last few years rebranding himself as an ACTOR! and power player behind the scenes in Hollywood, not to mention in diplomatic/advocacy circles. I don't think he'd necessarily be up for going back to the Sexiest Man Alive well.

Katidot did you see McConaugh in Interstellar? Your comment was it a confirmation or sarcastic? Personally I'm not a big Matthew fan tho he is a terrific actor. Not crazy about his "swagger" that seems so prevalent in most of his movies. I haven't seen his movie yet. It has gotten rave reviews except the Washington Post didn't like it so much.

Oh, I don't deny he's sexy.  He's just one of those good looking guys that makes me think, "Shhhh, don't open your mouth, you'll ruin it."  And he's been talking a lot over the past year. But is there some extra sexiness in Interstellar that makes it worth three hours?  

Celebitchy had a post earlier this week about the SMA award; apparently Neil Patrick Harris is high on the list of possibilities?  Not quite my sexy cup of tea, but it would be amazing for them to choose an openly-gay married father of two for that title.  I don't think People has the balls to risk it though.

Anyone think People will or should go for someone new and younger this year? They seem to skew a little old and established.

Never heard of Chris Hemsworth but neither has Lainey apparently.  She mentioned 11 guys in her speculations and he wasn't one of them.

He plays Thor... in Marvel franchise.

I think People was smart to go with a younger guy. Fava suggested this might happen in an earlier post. Hemsworth is not my idea of sexy but he's of another generation. People needs to stay viable with a younger fan base. There are girls out there who will be drooling over this selection by the magazine.

He's kind of prototypically handsome, IMO, but I don't think he's sexy. Clearly a choice for the younger set.

I don't read 'People.' Is Daniel Sunjata anywhere near the top of their list? If not, I call bogus.

Also, don't we think that George will definitely be one of the 208 gorgeous guys inside the issue? 208. That must cover every pretty boy in Hollywood. But isn't George always included in the sexy guy issue every year?

He was in the TV show "Rescue Me' and he's now in 'Graceland.' Has had small parts in several movies. He's a hunk and a half, IMO.

Way2' wasn't he at one time on one of the CSI series? He looks very familiar.

That was Gary Dourdan on CSI who once date Lisa Snowden, one of George's exes.

Sunjata had an occasional part on one of the 'Law & Order' shows a while ago. He was a lab tech or something.

That is NOT George's ass.  His is flatter and not so rounded.

We at least can say we HAVE seen G's butt and that picture is not his butt.

It's a commercial for a Norwegian bank. It says in the end that some people are lucky in life but for the rest of us it might be smart to save up a little.

The letter seems to be written by Brad Pitt or Matt Damon, maybe it's another of their prank.

I think someone (Brad, Matt) is pranking George with this letter. The letter states he has locked lips with Maggie Ryan - I don't think George has worked with Meg Ryan, has he?

I believe that "he" meant Maggie Smith from when he did that Downton Abbey thing.  "He" got all the ladies' names wrong.  Jen Lopez, Julie Roberts, Um Thurman.  The only one "he" got spelled right is Natalie Portman who he HASN'T co-starred with.
