Thanks all, I will hold onto your good thoughts and in 4 wks when I go there is an improvement. If the alternative happens I will cope but not like it. I will print some of my thousands and thousands of GTC really big and paste them to them. God bless all of you, thanks again.

Cute, Pigpen! Yes it was a real "female dog" in some parts of the NY area - lots of roads flooded because so much rain fell so fast there was no time for it to drain away - but the city of NY wasn't hit too badly. Just lots of rain and clouds. All gone now.

Experience La Dolce Vita in George Clooney’s Lake Como

Lake Como, in northern Italy, has always been a beautiful destination, but when actor George Clooney moved to the region well over a decade ago, it got a whole lot prettier — and more popular.
It’s bound to get a heck of a lot hotter if reports are true that Hollywood’s biggest celebrities will descend on Clooney’s 18th century lakeside retreat, Villa Oleandra, for his upcoming wedding to Amal Alamuddin.
The silver fox has recently been busy squiring his legal eagle fiancée around his adopted Italian hometown of Laglio, a tiny village of about 1,000 people that’s perched on the western shores of the Y-shaped Lake Como.
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt tied the knot at Clooney’s Lake Como compound in 2010. The local police helped control crowds in the area by setting up roadblocks and restricting air space. (Photo: Thinkstock)
"What changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way was buying the villa in Laglio,” George Clooney has said of his time spent in Italy. “I thought maybe I would spend a few weeks vacationing. But then I realized how beautiful life was in Italy and how it really helped calm me and not feel so pressured.”
Clooney, who shot portions of the blockbuster film “Ocean’s Twelve” in the area with pals Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, is the ideal tourist guide for Alamuddin and his big name guests, especially since he’s carved out his own version of the sweet life in this serene spot just south of the Switzerland border and 45 minutes north of Milan.
Lake Como has played host to the rich and famous for ages. Past and present fans of the getaway include everyone from Mark Twain and Clark Gable to Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace. (Photo: Thinkstock)

Riding the Waves
Clooney loves to jump on his boat and motor around the 30-mile-long Lake Como. One local tells Yahoo! Travel that the actor often refuels at Yacht Club Como. But if hanging out on the docks isn’t your idea of fun, charter a private tour with Lake Como Boats or hop aboard one of the many taxi boats available for hire.

Living Like a Local
When the star isn’t cruising Como’s waters, he’s often on his Harley-Davidson racing to surrounding towns, like picturesque Bellagio. Known as the Pearl of the Lake, the village is famous for its cobbled stairs and romantic lakeside promenade. Even better, this gem is just across from Clooney’s 25-room, $30 million home.
For some private time, the Oscar winner loves to go on solo rides through the foothills of the Alps. Val d’Intelvi, a valley situated between Lake Como and Lake Lugano, is one of his favorite routes.

Tee Off
When he’s in the mood to do something sporty, Clooney likes to hit the links at Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club, an idyllic course nestled in the steep slopes above the lake.
Buon Appetito!
Gatto Nero
One of Italians’ most beloved pastimes is gathering for a good meal, and Clooney has this custom down pat. He’s known to enjoy the food — and lots of wine — at Il Gatto Nero, or “the black cat” in English, a small restaurant tucked in the hills directly above Clooney’s luxurious villa. This local favorite boasts sweeping views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains, but for a real sight ask to see Il Gatto Nero’s special album that contains pictures of the staff with Clooney and other famous guests, including Damon.

Navedano
Clooney recently treated his fiancée to a special night at Navedano, an elegant restaurant just outside Como that has been run for almost 120 years now by the Casartelli family. In the summer, dine alfresco on dishes ranging from lasagna to chicken baked inside a special clay dome, while in the winter the cozy crackling fireplace and giant orchid arrangements make for a romantic evening out.
Villa d’Este
Villa d’Este is just minutes from Clooney’s villa by car, but he prefers to pull his boat right up to the five-star hotel’s pier. He recently strolled hand-in-hand with Alamuddin through the opulent villa’s Renaissance-era gardens after dinner in the resort’s popular restaurant, Il Platano.

La Colombetta
Clooney put his best foot forward and more than guaranteed himself a walk down the aisle when he brought his parents, Nick and Nina Clooney, his fiancée, and her mom, Baria Alamuddin, to feast on seafood at Ristorante la Colombetta in downtown Como.
Aperitivo Time
Harry’s Bar
Whenever Clooney needs a drink, he heads to his favorite watering hole, Harry’s Bar in Cernobbio. The local hotspot (It’s part of the famous Harry’s Bar chain that first started in Venice.) is just down the road from his home and overlooks Lake Como.

Joan Rivers was admitted to Mount Sinai hospital in New York Thursday morning in critical condition, a source close to the situation tells FOX411.
Police would not confirm Rivers' identity, but told FOX411: "An 81-year-old female was transported Mount Sinai in critical condition... at 9:39 a.m."
They said she was "unconscious and unresponsive."
The New York Fire Department told FOX411 the person transported was in cardiac arrest.
TMZ reports Rivers stopped breathing during a throat procedure at a clinic, and someone at the clinic called 911.
E! News reports Rivers underwent a minor endoscopic procedure.
E! News host Ken Baker tweeted that Rivers' condition had stabilized, and said on the network's live webcast: "We are told she is in stable condition."
But when reached for comment, a rep for E! said they had no information on her condition, and declined to comment further.
E! News reported Rivers' daughter, Melissa, rushed to New York to be with her mother. Rivers is the lead host on E!'s hit series "Fashion Police," which features a panels of celebrity commentators dissecting the outfits stars are spotted wearing.
Mount Sinai would not confirm Rivers was at the facility.

Last I heard, she was 'stable' but in a medically induced coma. She was rushed to hospital from a private hospital where she'd been having surgery on her vocal cords.

From CBS This Morning..
Comedy legend Joan Rivers remains in medically induced coma
Joan Rivers has been called a groundbreaker and a legend. Now she is struggling with a life-threatening health crisis.
The legendary comedienne is in a medically induced coma at a hospital in New York, reports "Entertainment Tonight" co-host Nancy O'Dell.
The 81-year-old queen of comedy stopped breathing on Thursday while having throat procedure at a clinic on New York's Upper East Side.
Play Video
She went into cardiac arrest and is being treated at Mount Sinai hospital.
"This is not a comeback business," Rivers told CBS This Morning in 2010. "And I've seen too many people try to come back. The people have moved on. You must always stay current."
Rivers appeared on Wednesday night at an event promoting her book in New York City, and was booked for a Friday night standup show in Red Bank, New Jersey, which has now been postponed.
"She's a trailblazer. She's everything that we want to bring to Red Bank and to our stage," said theater operations Vice President Izzy Sackowitz. "We were close to being sold out."
Rivers broke the glass ceiling of late night. She got her start in 1966 as a guest on the Tonight Show, and served as permanent guest host for years. Johnny Carson adored her and she flourished on the stage.
She said on Carson's show in 1986: "No man has ever put his hand up a woman's dress looking for a library card."
Rivers has continued to reinvent herself through a five-decades long career of ups and downs.
"I just want to know what you're going to say now," Will Smith said to Rivers on the red carpet. "Because last year you told me I looked like a swashbuckler."
Her sharp tongue has kept pop culture on its toes, many in Hollywood finding themselves the target of her jokes on the E! Network show "Fashion Police."
Through it all, Rivers has retained the ability to laugh at herself.
"I have been pulled so tight, I put earrings on my ass now," she said on Entertainment Tonight in 2008.
We are hearing that they are going to bring Rivers out of the medically induced coma this weekend and assess any damage.
Everyone in Hollywood is rallying around her, like Larry King, who tweeted: "Go get 'em girl."

I do hope Joan pulls through completely OK
after that traumatic experience.
It must be very worrying for her family.
Good luck Joan.

Re: August 2014 Chit Chat
At times Joan can be extremely funny and at other times she goes WAY over the boundary of taste bordering on truly being mean.
BUT I have always admired one trait in Joan. That no matter how many times she's been down she continues to work and has more career revivals than most.
I saw the film about her and that woman works tirelessly. She never gives up.
I hope that spunk helps her through now.

Re: August 2014 Chit Chat
Want to go into a different tack now.
I just watched a film called Transcendence with Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman.
The concept is that scientists found a way to upload a human consciousness into a quantum computer.
Depp plays the scientist who's consciousness is uploaded. I won't say why but I will say it was done during a desperate time for him.
Now what I found fascinating was the concept of taking human emotions and then coupling that with the ability to amass vast knowledge via the resources of all the connected computers of the world.
What would you do and what could you do with that?
That's the premise of the film.
What was interesting though was the automatic FEAR that came from those who did not understand it. And although they didn't overtly show this - I think it was more implied in the fear - was the potential for someone not as altruistic as the scientist to want to use the power to manipulate it for their own enrichment.
We are already researching nano technology and understand the function of stem cells. Even I have been using something that activates my dormant stem cells - which has improved my health significantly.
But there is a fine line that could easily be crossed to make what could be life giving, into something to be manipulated not for the common good.
Anyway, it's certainly a film that will make you think. For me, the medical potential breakthroughs with nano technology and stem cells is fascinating. I've already seen what our own stem cells can do - I can only hope that the science is controlled by ethical people and that it be used for the common good.

Re: August 2014 Chit Chat
OK sorry but i have to complain and I need to let it out......
Not sure if you have the same experience but when you drive highways sometimes it happens when you pass another car on the left line and the driver who you pass is a man and he sees he gets passed by a woman he speeds up to try to pass you again. Or men who see women driving and speed up to the same level window to window and start waiving at you and keep the speed until they get an reaction from you.....
Now as I said this happens SOMETIMES...but today I had a lot of those Fckers.... I'm so angry inside I'm really boiling. One guy passed me from the left line saw me and shared in the right line right in front of me and slowed down and I had to go into my brakes....I had to change lines and passed him again and then he speed up again on another line and came back in front of me again and I had to go into my brakes again. And half an hour later I had another guy driving right next to me keeping the same speed like me as he was trying to get an reaction from me through the window. I could feel his staring but I didn't react at all.....
Really ...weird Sunday...but I want to say that those man are fcking idiots and obviously they have no sex life that's why they drive like that to get an reaction. Next time I put a big banner in my back window saying "Men driver are impotence ego bastards....Yes I mean YOU"
Sometimes I want to react big time and not care if there will be a crash and then get out of my car and beat the shit out of those fckers...... Or I will write down his license plate join the Mafia and send him some thugs....
Really....my blood is boiling....driving car makes me aggressive sometimes and believe me a drive a lot........

Re: August 2014 Chit Chat
There is a lot of nutjob drivers and driving make me aggressive too. Especially when they cut in right in front of you and force you to brake. The only time I use my finger is when I drive.
Always make me think about Kathy Bates character in Fried Green Tomatoes. Towanda!!
And on a different note, I'm hearing migrating swans. Tomorrow is 1 september. Autumn always makes me a little sentimental.

Re: August 2014 Chit Chat
Nicky if ever safe enough pull up your cell phone and either try to take a picture of their license or pretend to take a picture. Even if you can't the fact that they THINK you're taking their license picture might get them to speed up and leave you alone. It's worked for me.
Or do like the Russians, install a camera on your rear view mirror. Then at least you'll have a record of their shenanigans!
