Where does George stand in the A-list?

That's cause there is only one working parent at a time and they don't work often, IMO that's cause Tom's career came to a screeching halt, which I'am sorry about.

Tom is a perfect example of what happens to a celebrity when they are too concerned about their "image!"

I hope George is paying attention to how it turns out for him.

I wonder, who is the bigger name, George or Tom? Has George's career and fame surpassed that of Tom's?

So, where does George stand in the a-list rankings? Is he ahead of Tom Cruise? Behind? Not even in the same race?

I want to say about neck-in-neck, but with George inching ahead. I'm guessing Tom is still well liked by the media and the entertainment industry.

I still think Tom leads the way just by virtue of his past work. He's done some incredible work in amazing films and in terms of both acting and box office, in total he overshadows George.

I suspect that that will always be the case.

In terms of popularity, then I think it's no contest: George wins hands down.

The question is: is popularity a true measure of a star or is it their overall accomplishments that should matter?

Also, should their personal life be included, too. Talking both men here.

A great question. Does it depend on the talent of the actor if they can overcome their image? I think image has become much to important to the success of their craft. I agree Tom Cruise is an amazing talent, but I think Charlie Sheen is a talented actor too. So I guess in that, you have the answer to your question. It does matter and play a huge part in their over all success.

I wanted to say that personal life shouldn't affect professional life. Then I realized that often for me it does. Charlie Sheen, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, I avoid anything they do. I find it hard to say that their talents over-ride the fallout of their private lives. Lots of people have talent. Only a few ascend the heights. Should we hold them to a higher moral standard? I don't know. In certain professions the two are tied together, in movie land it's not as clear.

I use to see every TC film, but I've never even looked at his IMDb,or googled him. I only stalk George! But when he abruptly ended his marriage with Nic, I slowly began to feel differently about him, the last film of his I saw was MI3. I will see MI4 maybe not at the theater. Tom has made some great choices and done some good movies but I don't think he is the best actor. He like George chooses roles that he knows he can play. I can watch him but I don't really like Tom, I feel he tries to manipulate everyone and I don't believe anyone has seen the real Tom Cruise. We see what he wants us too and when called on things he has as we have all seen reacts very badly. I don't think he is really a nice guy just good at pretending to be one. His treatment of women simply reaffirms that, I actually didn't like Nicole much while she was with tom now I do. You can see how restricted her life was with him very similar to the way Katie is now. George has made some good movies but even though he is well liked hasn't had hit after hit he is more hit and miss. But George is more daring with his choices then I think Tom is. I do think Tom has lost alot of his gleam the last few years with his comments and too much sugery sweet press which few are buying these days. George is more warts and all and just seems more honest.
