Well, to be honest... IF some of what I read here is the real George, I don't necessarily like him "the way they say he is". I would hope he's more rounded in person than this. Which is what I want to believe! JMHO

If you truly like him the way he's portrayed, well... good for you! Maybe he'll pick you next... lol!

You see... not all things are as they seem. AND not all people are as they seem. Sometimes other people can make something out of nothing and nothing out of something. If you know what I mean... JMO lol!

I've just watched Episodes and noticed that the first assistant director is Ben Weiss. I know he did the same for Friends and also Joey, so I'm guessing it's him even though it's not on his IMDb resume.

Why do I feel like they're using him. And that non of them really want him to settle down and have family because then all of those free trips and enjoyment would end cause I don't think a woman would like for her husband to be spending money on his friends for their pleasure when they are well off to buy it themselves.

Do you feel that way because it's something you'd do?  Isn't it conceivable that FRIENDSHIP has nothing to do with money?  They were his friends in the time before he was known as a "commodity".  They were his friends during the time of "him sleeping in a walk-in closet, lending him money for headshots, bicycling to and from auditions".  These were the friends whose shoulders he "cried" on during breakups with Kelly and Talia. His was the shoulder they "cried" on during their "breakups, too.  When he "made" something of himself, they were the ones he shared it with. To this day, their friendship continues to flourish.  He never became to big for their friendship, not they to big for his.  Perhaps that's one of the reasons he's never considered getting married - he hasn't found  The Woman" who doesn't resent his pleasure in his TRUE FRIENDSHIP with these wonderful friends.

I agree that this type of FRIENDSHIP wouldn't happen so much in women. This type of TRUE, UNQUESTIONABLE type of FRIENDSHIP is for the most part a GUY thing. Women are never as trusting of a friendship or even a relationship as men are. They are usually looking for an what if, or a but. We, in general, always have that little doubt that we are really worthy of true, complete commitment, whether a friendship or a love relationship.

You are really not dim, and you are definitely not rude.

@pattygirl, thank you so much.

I think "Sex in the city" was right to portray only 4 women...I think anymore would be unthinkable...for women  friendship at some point becomes "competitive". People can cope with being competitive on one or two issues...but when it's every damn thing, right down to shoes...give me a break affraid
It's exhausting, who needs it.... by chance  my best friends have always been men .... they celebrate my (small) achievements and commiserate my failures .... BUT NEVER JUDGE....not even my shoes...

Thanks Pattygirl for putting my thoughts in writing so much more eloquently than I could.

Yes, his friends have been around for ever. They knew him way before he was famous and while they surely do benefit from being around famous millionaire George Clooney, that's not what got them together in the first place and if he lost it all, they'd still be around.

George has enough money for everyone around him - including girlfriends - to enjoy his lifestyle, so no need for him to choose. Any woman who thinks she can break up that relationship surely doesn't care a lot for George. When you love someone, you love them and their baggage.

Men are usually super glued to their buddies. Women more likely have a few good friends and spend time with them separately.

My friend is having an incredibly hard time with her mother-in-law. So I´d say the most important person from his life you want to get to your side is his mother. Not any of his friends. When going gets tough she will team up with you Smile

Most of the boys are married or have significant other halves, right?
Of course George should keep his friendship with the boys. They have a bond formed from trust, loyalty, support & common interests.
No woman can come along & try to change that. It's absurd, overbearing & clingy if anyone would even want to.
Relationships aren't ball & chain exclusivity. People need time to themselves, with other friends, work, etc.

Balance. "Some time with others: Mostly together"
is some formulaic guideline.

Time apart makes you yearn your loved one more too.

There is a big difference between friends George and George, his friends have a family life, children and companions that enrich their lives, George when he comes home or hotel (if you are shooting a movie) is just like a stray dog and if you are physically ill, if he is angry or happy has no one with whom to share this. Success is not life sometimes we need a caress, a chamomile made with affection and two ears that hear what you have to say. Life can not be just and Oscars red carpet, these last time a breath and then?

It would be ideal to share your life with someone you love. Pure mutual love, understanding & companionship.

Some people don't find that, while others do and enjoy their life together.

Compromising & settling for someone who seems right is never quite the same. No one can fill the void where love should exist.
The Boys have their wives to turn to and open their hearts, confide their fears & anxieties, discuss concerns, comfort....
