Movies please
Hello, I am mortifyingly new to Mr C's talents.
I have only seen one movie THE AMERICAN. Which I loved, but I do not know where to go from here.
Can anyone give me a top ten.
The American was as violent as I can go.
I saw The American on TV when I dropped in on a friend....so please don't be upset I am just not a big movie buff. However, I recently found movies to be a life saver as I have to travel a lot, planes and buses mostly - so my ipad has become my pillow....and I have discovered film. I trawl through itunes not knowing what to rent or buy. I feel you are all "experts" and won't let me down. I would love to down load a couple before tomorrow when I hit the road again. For your trouble the only gossip I have is that for the last few days I have been in eastern Europe not far from German border, there was THE most beautiful waxing crescent Moon last night, really bright and fresh .... and we can all look at it, together movie star or ardent fan. So top ten please what would he say....while looking at the Moon of course.

To every special kind soul,
I am so delighted with all your responses - I had no idea - he is sooo prolific ! and still going strong:)
I went to eat and came back to more films than an ipad can hold.
I am downloading two tonight (which should get me home) and more when I travel next....my ipad has turned into my guilty pleasure!
Night night x
p.s No moon to see tonight:(

Re: Movies please
Update.. Thank you all so much for the recommendations; Michael Clayton and Descendants came out top-ish.
I had already started to download Burn After Reading (LOVED IT). I had to talk to Hotel Duty Manager about download speeds....long story short.... He talked me into NOT downloading 2 Clooney movies as he was a big fan of someone else....I am so ANGRY I left myself be swayed! I spent nearly 4 hours on a bus pelted by the most awful rain, when I could have been in Hawaii......instead I endured 25 minutes of Daniel Day Lewis (who seems to always talk through his nose, I think he must have severe post nasal drip) 3 Oscars I was told by Duty Manager....REALLY REALLY.
Descendants here I come.

Re: Movies please
Beside movies, don't forget the incomparable TV show that truly launched him - "ER."
Since several of his essential movies have already been mentioned, I'll just add my two cents worth about my personal favorites.
O Brother Where Art Thou? (2000) - First movie of George's I ever watched, and it was actually because my mother wanted it first. I was just a kid at the time and didn't completely fall under his spell until about five/six years later.
He's deliciously silly in this, totally deserved the Golden Globe he won for it (and I hope he finds some more comedic roles to do soon, given that he hasn't done them in a while).
One Fine Day (1996) - One of the last good romantic comedies that's not a raunch fest but not too corny and dumb either (it seems to be one or the other for the genre these days). A nice breeze, a comfort watch. George and Michelle Pfeiffer are beyond gorgeous together.
The Peacemaker (1997) - Just because it's got him paired with Nicole Kidman, whom I love. They didn't have to have a "love scene" to ooze sexual chemistry, I just find them that beautiful together. Though it has some flaws, it's still a fairly solid action film. It has a Hans Zimmer score which is always a plus. It is an R rated action flick, so yes there is violence (though not gory like From Dusk Till Dawn, though I still recommend that one too as it was his breakout movie role and that character was different from anything else he's done). Besides, from another aesthetic, fangirlish point, George is beyond dreamy in all the various military garb he sports throughout the film. This is the part where I would insert a "drooling" emoticon if there was one to use, mercy he sends me.

Oh my word. Best.Thing.Ever. Thank you kind Person of the Year! This is just what I was looking for; inspiring new projects for me. I was totally lost.....and just about to reach for Batman (which even I think could be dodgy). Pink Ice, thank you sooo much for taking the time to write your critique, this is what I wanted. I thought by using the name “what would he say” die hard Clooneyites would know what films Mr C considers to be his best....maybe you have heard? Everything I have seen so far (only 4, trouble with equipment) have been exceptional. I know I shouldn’t be, it’s wrong on so many levels, but I am “so proud of him”. xx

Re: Movies please
I think George is proud of Good Night and Good Luck, which he directed as well as playing a role.
It's an excellent film and worth watching many times.
It's very true to the period and his father Nick Clooney said the
TV studio was exactly as they used to be.

Re: Movies please
Well it's all ultimately a matter of personal taste. Though I don't believe George considers One Fine Day and The Peacemaker among his best work, but in my opinion they're not his worst either and just are rather underrated in general.
George has come a long way in his career. It's hard for me not to be biased, but I don't think George has done films that have been outright terrible for a long time. Batman and Robin was about as low as it could get (other than the films prior to From Dusk Till Dawn obviously) and a lot of it wasn't even George's fault, he really didn't even have that much to do in it and it's so funny when people try to place the blame of how awful it was squarely on him. He didn't direct or write the script for that one.
Yep, Good Night and Good Luck was his "baby."
He also liked working with Steven Soderbergh and the Coen Brothers in particular.

I think that you are right, to date I believe he is proudest of GN&GL. In my humble opinion there is no bad George Clooney movie because he's in them. Just a little prejudice but some movies might not be the best but he is so they all are an experience. I think when "MM" comes out it may become his favorite.

Re: Movies please
Ktsue's favorite GC films, including directed and acted in.
1.Out of Sight (All I have ever wanted to be in this world is Karen Sisco in the trunk of that car.)
2. Good Night and Good Luck
3. Leatherheads (Hey, I got to meet him as a result of this film, so on my fav. list it must be)
4. Michael Clayton/Oh Brother Where Art Thou (tied)
5. Three Kings
6. Up in the Air
7. Fantastic Mr. Fox (Funny!! Funny!!)
8. The Descendants
9. Ides of March
10. Oceans 11 (Like all three, but I think 11 was the best)
11. The Men Who Stare At Goats (I own a goat bobble head, people)
12. The Perfect Storm
13. Oceans 13
14. Syriana
15. Confessions of Dangerous Mind/Oceans 12 (tied)
I have only disliked one of his films overall. The Good German. Watched it twice, but I just didn't get it. The other films like Solaris, From Dusk til Dawn and Batman and Robin, I liked, but I just didn't have a rank for them.
