Cindy Crawford loses love for Obama, now a Romney supporter

I wonder if there have been some interesting political conversations between her and George.....

LAS VEGAS -- Supermodel Cindy Crawford appears to be supporting Mitt Romney for president.
Crawford, 45, made an appearance in a fundraising video for the former Massachusetts governor at his national "call day" in Las Vegas Monday that netted him $10.25 million.
At the one-day event, approximately 800 Romney supporters worked the phones inside the Las Vegas Convention Center, to raise the staggering sum.
"Cindy Crawford appears in a demonstration video at Romney call day to show people how to use ComMitt fundraising software," Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom tweeted during Monday's event.

By showing support for Romney, Crawford appears to have switched her allegiance from the 2008 election when the supermodel supported the campaign of then-Senator Barack Obama.
Federal Election Commission records show that Crawford, married to businessman and former model Rande Gerber, donated $4,600 -- the maximum amount permissible for a couple at that time -- to Obama in August 2008.


A spokeswoman for Crawford did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Moving this to another forum because Cindy isnt an ex girlfriend of George's (as far as I know).

Well I guess she's on board the "give the rich another tax break" bandwagon.

She must have a LOT of income she's got to protect!

And I wonder if her family was independently wealthy enough to pay for all of her brother's cancer care? They must have been because if Mitt becomes President, I'm sure he'll try to roll back that "no one can be denied insurance because of a pre-existing condition" portion of President Obama's health program.

So I guess Cindy really has either forgotten her roots or feels that kids can be denied coverage because their family is not rich enough to pay for their medical treatment! But her kids will be okay I'm sure.

Sorry, don't mean to get political but her choice shows a serious disconnect with what is happening in this country which was CAUSED by the policy of deregulation pushed thru by ex-President Bush, his two back-breaking wars (one of which was completely based on personal pay back) and tax breaks for the rich!

Don't get me wrong, I supported his decision to go into Afganistan but he lost me with Iraq because that was all about a couple of men playing chicken using our money and our young men and women as pawns in a pissing match!

Ok off the soap box but can you tell -- this just pissed me off and frankly, Cindy has lost my respect.

I agree with you completely Lorna and I really can't understand how she can sell out her gender like this knowing their stance on contraception, abortion and their war on Planned Parenthood which is the mainstay for women who are poor being screened for cancer. And beyond the tax breaks for the wealthy, how is she okay with the draconian cuts to Medicaid and Medicare and the Food Stamp programs just so she can hang on to a little more of her money?

This has changed my opinion of her entirely! Actions speak louder than words in my book.

Thanks for bringing up their stance on women! I think the policies they are pushing are so abhorrent to me that I've been trying to push them out of my mind!

In another thread Ariana Huffington pointed out that Ryan co-authored a bill that used the words "forcible rape" which to her is the same as "legitimate rape"! WTF are these men thinking? That somehow, someway women are complicit in being raped? Wow what a bunch of assholes! RAPE IS RAPE there is no modifier to change the horror of someone taking away your right to decide with whom you have sexual relations!

And these are the idiots who want to run this country.

Yes and there are NO exceptions for the mother's life, rape or incest...these women don't have any rights...only the unborn have rights apparently. But look out once you're born! Then you're on your own...

And as long as they can slash Medicaid and Food Stamps, Ann Romney won't have to worry about losing her $77,000 tax deduction for a dancing horse that she can't and doesn't ride!

People need to get their priorities in order...what's more important?

MORE tax cuts for the wealthy "job creators" (cough bullsh*t cough...where oh where are those jobs again; oh yeah that's right, they're in China and India so the corportists in this country can have bigger bonuses) OR giving handouts to those "greedy, lazy" poor children who need food stamps in order to eat...well they don't need to eat "every day" do they? (major CS)

And Cindy is okay with this platform? Just WOW! I guess you just never know about people! Maybe she should spend less time on the yachts and more time in East LA checking out those poor women, some of whom work two jobs and still can't feed their kids. This is who she is throwing under the bus because she wants to pay a little less in taxes.

Edited to add: What galls me the MOST is that she was RAISING MONEY for those cretans to LIE about the President and his record. It's one thing to want to pay less in taxes and to vote accordingly but to fund raise for them, knowing the lies and distortions the money will fund in ads against President Obama is just inexcusable and beyond the pale!

And I totally agree with the other posters here. Very disappointing.

I believe Ryan has now stated the term 'forcible' rape was removed from the bill because people did not understand it was just 'stock language'. WTF is stock language? Cindy needs to remember who she sells her beauty products to, they aren't men. But she is married to a real piece of work who treats woman as objects not humans. I will jump on the bandwagon with you guys, lost all respect for her.

My understanding is that the term "forcible" rape differentiates it from other kinds of rape, like statutory rape, date rape, and marital rape. As far as the Republicans are concerned, the last two don't exist, and the first is likely to be claimed by a girl seeking an abortion to be paid for by Medicaid. Can't have that, can we?

As far as Cindy is concerned, I remember an interview she did with an actress (can't remember for the life of me who it was), when she was hosting that MTV House of Style show 20 years ago. The actress made a comment about how she'd bought the dress she was wearing at a department store, and Cindy's response was "Yes, but you don't shop for yourself, do you?" in utter disbelief. The actress was like, "Um, yeah?" Cindy forgot where she came from a long time ago, and the summers spent on yachts in the Europe obviously didn't help.
