Lakin, I thought it was a good film. I watched it on DVD. You may have to watch it more than once to get the story. IMO George did over-act a bit in it, but his acting did improve since then. Cate Blanchett was excellent. I think a lot of people were turned off because it is in black and white, but I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it too. A little slow in places, and I agree, seeing it a couple times to get all of it helps.

Ok, just finished it and here's my 'off the cuff' synopsis. Cate Blanchett gives a great performance. She has a real screen presence and her skill as an actor is evident. I get the film noir style (I hope I'm using that term correctly - 1940s style black and white melodramatic a bit (or alot) overdone. I appreciate they were going for a specific genre effect. Liked George in it, though not his best role that I've seen so far. The ending developed too fast IMO to engage me emotionally in the outcome. BUT I still enjoyed it, though it's not my fav GC film.
