Upset that some people have guessed that most of you posting are employed to do so as part of George Clooney's PR?

Just because this forum is funded by Stan Rosenfield via George himself..

And let's not forget, "it's me" who posts here is actually George Clooney!

Post by Wolfgang Gunnerson Wed 14 Dec 2011, 00:01

yes, of course I was expecting these attacks.
I'm on your turf after all.
Cindigirl - you're of small stature & you've admitted it on other posts.
Regardless, I asked you if you were the "pipsqueak" next to
Stan in the video footage I posted above. And I'm told it's
you. Plus more of you were there.

The fact remains that the administrators that run this forum are EMPLOYED by Stan Rosenfield. Yes, many are freelance writers, who work as staff correspondents.
Like, Courtney Rubin....

Keep denying as you do have many independent users registered here who are oblivious to the 7 main participants.

I don't care about that. I'm only interested in updates.
Calling me a "nutjob" "loonie tune" is grounds for defamation & slander against YOUR site.
So, you be aware, Kirstie/ CINDERELLA.

Also, I never stated that this forum traps anyone. A Google search about George Clooney leads to the site.
That's your PR strategy.
You keep promoting it everywhere. Make it seem informative, albeit unbiased.

You get awfully defensive.
Just as you're instructed.

But of course we know what the truth is, KatieDot/ New Kid.
It's meant to be an independent blog, but actually run by George's publicist, who employs these PR correspondents.
Not ALL of you. 7 main ones using multiple names.
AND MANY OF YOU KNOW IT!!!
Shocked

Gah! Wouldn't life just be so much better if we didn't have to deal with other people? Caution: work related stress will be unloaded in the following sentences.

First off we have a guest checking into one of our hotels who's ambassador level in our frequent guest programme (ie: top, top level). He's demanding an upgrade and tells us that if he doesn't like the room we give him he'll stand in the lobby and scream until he gets a better room!

Not only that, but he's also demanding a red carpet (literally, he wants a red carpet for his check in) and wants us to give him the same VIP treatment we would give royalty or celebrities.

This has come to me because it's clearly going to be a PR disaster which I'll have to "control" somehow. Not sure how - I don't have a magic wand (hint hint Santa!) and I can't stop someone badmouthing us over the internet. Glad I don't usually deal with guests because my immediate reaction would have been to tell him to get over himself already.

Second headache: one of our staff has been tweeting horrible homophobic rants, backed up by quotes from the Qur'an (he's deeply religious). His tweets have been picked up by a local journalist who now wants to know what the hotel is going to do about it. What to do? While I find his comments abhorrent, he's entitled to his opinion. As long as he isn't doing it during working hours or from company computers the freedom of speech is on his side and I've no intention of getting involved. I'm truly pissed off at the journalist for even trying to drag us into this mess.

So, how's your day going?

So he's going to scream in the lobby until he gets his way? Like a 2 yr old? Can you call his bluff and have his spoiled self entitled ass arrested if he causes a scene? Sure, he'll bad mouth the hotel but most people will understand he was disturbing other guests with his ridiculous behavior.

That sucks Katie! Hope you can figure out a solution and keep your sanity intact.

Has the "settle-for-less" financial plan become your plan for wealth? That plan sounds a little something like this:

"Graduate from college, get a good job, save 10% of your paycheck, buy a used car, cancel the movie channels, quit drinking expensive Starbucks mocha lattes, save and penny-pinch your life away, trust your life-savings to the stock market, and one day, when you are oh, say, 65 years old, you can retire rich."

Since you were old enough to hold a job, you've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by blindly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. I call this soul-sucking, dream-stealing dogma "The Slowlane" - an impotent FINANCIAL GAMBLE that dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair.

Accept the Slowlane as your financial roadmap and your financial future will blow carelessly asunder on a sailboat of HOPE: HOPE you can get a job and keep it, HOPE the stock market doesn't tank, HOPE the economy rebounds, HOPE, HOPE, and HOPE. Do you really want HOPE to be the centerpiece of your family's financial plan?

Drive the Slowlane road and you will find your life deteriorate into a miserable exhibition about what you cannot do, versus what you can. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less", there is an alternative; an expressway to extraordinary wealth capable of burning a trail to financial independence faster than any road out there. And shockingly, this road has nothing to do with jobs, 401(k), mutual funds, or a lifestyle of mediocrity.

Demand more. Change lanes and find your explosive wealth accelerator. Hit the Fastlane, crack the code to wealth, and find out how to live rich for a lifetime.

What is it with people thinking they are so special? Katie's guest, who the hell does he think he is, and why does he need a red carpet? Was watching Alec B. on the news doing his bit on SNL, although very funny, who the hell does he think he is???? Since 911 travel has changed for everyone, forever, when they ask you to turn off all your cells, laptops whatever, cause it could cause interference with cock pit and tower communications, just do it for the safety of everyone on your flight or around your air space. Sometimes I think AB is an arrogant ass.

No Pattygirl I can't. Not that I don't think he is knowledgeable enough, and his arrogance might work for him, but his anger control would do him in. Kim B. might have her problems, but she might be right about limiting their daughters time with daddy dearest, and I'm one who always feels both parents should be in a child's life as long as there is no abuse.

I agree, lucy. As far as AB and abuse is concerned, don't you think he has abused that child verbally enough to qualify for limited access?

His temper is legend and his arrogance so apparent, that I think "30 Rock" wrote that part just for him, because he isn't "that good" an actor.

It's me I recommended the book because even though his topic is about becoming wealthy, he doesn't just focus on that.

He also focuses on things that we should really, really think about.

How are we spending our finite amount of time on this earth?

Are we allowing ourselves to trudge along - day in and day out making SOMEONE ELSE wealthy at the expense of our own happiness and well-being?

He's not focusing on environmental issues - that's not his point.

His point is that if you have enough money you have something even more important - you have FREEDOM.

The freedom to come and go as you please.

The freedom to decide where and how you will live your life.

I do get tired of people who say money is the root of all evil.

Money is not the problem - it's how people with money decide that they someone deserve more than anyone else when it comes to consideration, perks, etc. It's how they use money that is the problem.

But money can be very effective in helping too - if used wisely.

I recently watched an old Oprah show where a big time director gave up his huge mansion and moved into a mobile home on the beach in Malibu. He's also working on giving away as much of his money as possible to causes that he beleives are important. And it was refreshing to see that they didn't seem to include any political campaigns!

The title of the book and what you've posted here doesn't scratch the surface of what he is writing about.

The author also makes the point that our lives - where ever we are in them, what ever state they are in - whether good or bad - are based on the series of choices we have made throughout our lives. If you life is crap it's because YOU and you alone - made choices that were crap.

You may have been influenced by others but in the end YOU DECIDED so if you don't like your life then you have only yourself to blame.

The cover info that was posted here is trying to sell the book - but the content is just so much more than just what you've noted above.

As they say, DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER.

Get it - read it and then decide.

BTW - ironcially, the author would consider this forum a huge waste of time. Not being a bitch but he has a point.

I do enjoy the banter here and the info - but frankly, what does this forum bring me other than an opportunity to bitch at times, rant at times, laugh often? But it certainly does nothing to further my goals in life. (Not that I don't appreciate the words of encouragement - believe me I do.)

But the time I spend here (which I have to admit is less and less) takes away from my finite amount of time I have on earth. And so I have to temper the enjoyment I get from it - and decide if it's always the best use of my time - at least in the scheme of my life goals.

Funny, how George keeps living his life to the fullest despite our consternation and concern and advice! :-)

I certainly don't agree with some of his choices and in as much as I used to care that he had was usurping his integrity with his partner choices - now - not so much.

I know, I know, the people in Sudan don't really know who he is and really don't give a flying fuck that he's trying to do someting. In their day to day life experience - George has done shit to help them.

but my concern was always that his choices, being so against the more strict mores of the religions represented in that country - would tend to make his attempts hypocritical and therefore, ineffective.

But I've given up on any hope that his efforts will be effective anyway, so his credibility no longer concerns me. I now just find his antics entertaining and amusing.

I do enjoy coming here and making my pithy comments - but it's no longer important to me how he is percieved. That's his cross to bear and he doesn't seem to give a shit about it so I don't either.

So again, the book helps to define what is important in OUR lives and gives some really good info on how to change the road or path we're on - IF that's what we want to do.

HOW TO START A FIGHT

I took my wife to a restaurant.
The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.
"I'll have the rump steak, rare, please."
He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?"
"Nah, she can order for herself."
And that's when the fight started.....

My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school
reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his
drink as he sat alone at a nearby table.
I asked her, "Do you know him?"
"Yes", she sighed,
"He's my old boyfriend. I understand he took to drinking
right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he
hasn't been sober since."
"Oh my!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on
celebrating that long?"
And then the fight started...

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting
to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had
something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat,
making beer.. Always something more important to me. Finally she
thought of a clever way to make her point.
When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall
grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing
scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into
the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again
I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the
grass, you might as well sweep the driveway.."
The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my
lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked the
boat up to the van and proceeded to back out into a torrential
downpour. The wind was blowing 50mph, so I pulled back into the
garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather
would be bad all day.
I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back
into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back; now with a different
anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."
My loving wife of 5 years replied, "And, can you believe my
stupid husband is out fishing in that?"
And that's how the fight started...

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming
anniversary.
She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in
about 3 seconds."
I bought her a bathroom scale.
And then the fight started......

My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She was not happy with what she saw and said to me,
"I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you
to pay me a compliment.'
I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."
And then the fight started........

I don't necessarily agree with that author... Did the children in Sudan choose to be attacked, raped and, forced from their homes?

I wasn't pointing the finger at anyone in my last post but I guess someone took it to heart. Very sorry for upsetting whoever... really didn't mean to. To explain further, things have happened in my life that was not because of MY choices... someone else made the decision. IMHO

The easiest way to explain it...

And God hardened their heart...

In other words... No matter what you do, you can make all the right choices in the world but if God is against the outcome, at the moment or against it all together, it will not help... Does that help you understand?

Just had to share what happened a few minutes ago. My daughter starts yelling for me "Hurry, come here, Momma!" so I rush to the living room to see what is going on. She says "That guy you like is on tv!" They were talking about Golden Globe nominees and mentioned George. Training her right, huh? Wink

You should really think further than your own life experiences and look at the world as a whole! Just a thought...

Cinderella I don't think I made my point clear.

First, the book author speaks about nothing regarding Sudan - those were my comments. I abbreviated because many of the posters who have been here a while have heard my opinion about George and his involvement with Sudan that I didn't want to get into a long-winded comment about it.

I used the example of Sudan as the reason why I was interested in George and why I made comments in the past and why I came to the forum (including Cookie Aisle) as much as I did.

I still do not feel that his choices are good ones and in the past I was concerned that George's efforts would be less effective because of his choices. Now it's not as important to me.

I said nothing about the children and women asking to be raped and forced from their homes. That is one of the things about that entire situation that I abhor and I am very well aware that there is more to life than my life experience.

My point in the example I gave with Sudan had to do with why I came to this forum. I've always felt that George was a hypocrite for making comments about how he was so concerned about the women there when he makes choices with his women that-- if they were known to the people who he was trying to help -- IMO might not be so well received given they have a much higher moral standard in their religion. But I also pointed out that they don't really know of George and they could give a rats ass about his efforts when it comes to their day to day existence. So his effectiveness in relation to the quality of their lives, again IMO, is not important.

The book is about something totally different. The Sudan example was my own - not the author's.

The author makes an appropriate point IMO that we have a finite amount of time on this earth. And the quality of our lives is up to us (unlike so many others in the world). So we have to ask ourselves - what will WE have when we get to the end of our lives?

As he states - did we spend our time on this earth living our lives to the fullest? Or did we spend it watching too much television? Or playing too many video games? Or living online lives with fake farms and avatar based worlds instead of actually going out and living and experiencing life.

Unless you're Shirley McClain we all know we get one go around here. So what are we doing? That's the point the author makes.

As to your comment about thinking past your own life experience - I'm going to assume you misunderstood my post because your comment doesn't make any sense in the context of what I discussed. Unless you were commenting about someone else's post?

Thanks for you comments though - I realized I was probably confusing others when I spoke about the book and then commented about George's involvement in Sudan.

I'm about 20% of the way through the book and finding it interesting. Will comment fully once I've read it all because he seems to be slow in getting started.

Cinders, Lorna - I think you're both talking about different things. The book is about personal finances and your own attitude to life and wealth from an American perspective. He's not talking about out of the blue atrocities or anything like that. It's about the things you can control and I'd take it as a given that there are things that happen in life that can't be controlled and nobody brings warlords etc onto themselves. That's not relevant to this book.

He's not trying to cover the whole universe, just that small patch of it that's about your attitude to wealth and the way you think about life.

MGK, just read your comment about your little girl yelling "momma come here Quick" that's so sweet. My little girls are 25&28, and I also have them well trained, they are taking me out to breakfast, then to a 11am showing of THE Descendants , they looked up show times and planned the outing as something special for us to do together. For them it's more about AP film than GC, but what can I say, taste is something that's difficult to pass down, they just don't see George like I do.

MGK - A "true" George fan would make the trip.

Yes, I'm yanking your chain! HA!

But seriously, are you way out in the sticks? I used to live in a town that had only one small theater and we NEVER got anything first run so I'm sure an indie type film like TD would never had made it to that town anyway. I sometimes miss living in a small town. And then other times - when I realize how close I really am to so many amenities, shopping, theaters, etc. and the fact that I'm living in a realtively mild climate - I'm kinda glad I live in a larger city.

If I could just find a place that wasn't terribly expensive, had good amenties within a reasonalble distance but with a smaller town feel - for instance with an easy commute (or none at all) -- I might consider moving there. But have yet to find something with a decent mix of the stuff I mentioned above! Perhaps it just doesn't exist?
