Not sure why this is in the news now, but there you go.

From Bloomberg

Obama’s campaign committee reported raising $46 million during the previous three months and entered July with $37.1 million in the bank.

The figures included $12.8 million from a joint fundraising with the Democratic National Committee in which donors could donate as much as $35,800 to the party and campaign. Those giving the maximum included actor George Clooney, comedienne Ellen Degeneres; Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Burbank, California-based, Walt Disney Co. (DIS); and Robert Wolf, chairman of UBS Americas, FEC records show.

George's political donations Empty Re: George's political donations

Would George's donation relate to that dinner that he attended in LA for Obama back in April? CNN states the cost per plate at the dinner was $35,800.

(CNN) – Democratic sources tell CNN the president's Los Angeles fundraisers include two small dinners and a rally. Each dinner seats 60 people. The ask: $35,800 per person. That includes $30,800 for the DNC and $5000 to the campaign.

The first 60-person dinner will be on the Sony Pictures lot. Sony CEO and Chairman Michael Lynton helped organize the event. The second, at the Brentwood restaurant, the Tavern, will be chaired by tennis channel CEO Ken Soloman and Capital Group's John Emerson – Southern California finance Co-chairs – as well as democratic consultant and fundraiser Andy Spahn and movie mogul Jeffery Katzenberg.

CNN article

Since we are into the new financial year, maybe the political parties have to declare the donations received from the previous year to their campaigns for transparency and public record???
