Re: George injured in road accident in Sardinia

A car or motorbike can always be repaired or replaced, a person's health or life can't. So we all can just be very happy that George survived the crash without major injuries. The problem when riding a bike us that there's no safe space around you, unlike sitting in a car.
Last Saturday, on our return journry from vacation, we were the first to reach a crossing after a car had hit a motorbike - the car driver didn't give way as well, he was just shocked, and the bike rider had major injuries and had to be flown to hospital. A few weeks ago, at a railway crossing just a mile away from my home, there were construction works going on, so the gates were out of order. A worker stopped the traffic instead when a train was reaching the crossing, and he had fallen asleep and didn't stop the traffic. A motorbike was hit by the train and the rider was killed. Since some of my collegues are voluntarily firemen and the Red Cross, I heard a lot of details I really didn't want to hear about. My husband was waiting for this train to go to work, and a week later he spoke to a collegue of the staff who told him that the staff is still not able to work due to what they had seen and the guilt they felt (although it wasn't their fault). Maybe, if the train had hit a car instead, the driver had survived since the train wasn't very fast, but that's just 'if' and 'when'...

Just read the articles. Two hours in the ER seems like too short a time to evaluate car vs bike injuries, especially when the biker goes headfirst into the car's windshield. I think I would have insisted on overnight observation.

Right

With no intention to say those doctors are no good
But I guess (read hope) he signed to get out and got a plane/elicopter going elsewhere
Bigger place
Specialized

Obviously it's not first though

But he is under some contract
He has to do that for the sake of his job too

Same time I hope he will wait all the time needed to a full recovery

to start again before time
Would be a bad choice

It's Me - The doctors seem to have done a decent job checking him out. He even had an MRI. I'm guessing he left the hospital because he felt ok and didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Nick and Nina and Amal are all there. They'll make sure he gets the best care and doesn't overdo it.

I think he got 3
Maybe 4 occasions to stretch/bump his neck-back

The first hit
Then I guess he made a half turn
Went with head onto the glass and back onto the car
Then rolled down
With another half turn he got on 4 legs
Than sit

Wtffff

Video is blurry and half covered by numbers frame
So probably I am wrong

Anyway
Docs and himself too will be able to understand

One article said that he hospital will keep checking on him for the next 20 days.

They did the tac and everything was good. Pretty sure that George insisted to leave the hospital. And I'm also sure that he will check with his doctor too for his back condition.

The Italian grandfather who smashed into George Clooney's scooter in Sardinia on Tuesday has told how he did not see the actor coming because the was in his eyes.
Antonelli Viglino, 65, had come to a stop and was about to turn left, crossing Clooney's path, when the actor plowed into him, reportedly at a speed of 60mph.
Terrifying video of the collision shows Clooney being flung from his bike and landing on the ground.
Miraculously, he survived with no head injuries and some damage to his pelvis.

Viglino said he was stunned to learn who Clooney was once his helmet had been removed.
He likened the accident to the famous Nespresso commercial in which the actor appears, saying he introduced himself to the firefighters and others at the scene by saying: 'I'm George'.

'His head hit the windscreen and he fell to the ground': George Clooney crashed his scooter into a Mercedes being driven by a man in his sixties in Sardinia on Tuesday
'I didn't see anything, I had the sun on my eyes. I was about to turn, I just got over the line,' Mr. Viglino told the Italian newspaper Il Giornale.
Mr. Viglino, who is a plumber, was on his way to work to perform maintenance on a villa on the island.
After the crash, he was so  upset that he slumped against a wall on the side of the road and had to be driven home by a friend.
Before he left the scene, one of Clooney's security guards - who had been driving in front of him on his own scooter - told him who had been hit.
'You hit Clooney,' the man said.
When a stunned Mr Viglino asked who, they replied: 'Clooney ... the actor ... the one who shoots the film at the airport'. Clooney is in Sardinia filming the Hulu series Catch 22.

When he learned that Clooney had been taken to hospital, he said he wanted to go to see him but by the time he planned to visit, the star had been discharged.
'I hope to see him again,' Mr. Viglino said.
A witness, Gianni Visciano, who was driving a pick up truck, said: 'Clooney was shouting and when one of his escorts took off his helmet, he seemed unable to move his legs and held his head'.
Sergio Gavazzi, owner of the nearby Costa Corallina café, added: 'There was great confusion. Cars were queuing as people stopped to look. One of Clooney's escorts shouted: 'No photos on mobile phones.'

Footage taken from a street in Italy shows George Clooney being thrown several feet into the air when his scooter collided with an oncoming car.
Clooney, 57, collided with a Mercedes on the Italian island of Sardinia about 7am on Tuesday, when it turned into his lane as he tried to ride past.
Video taken from a fixed security camera, obtained by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, shows another rider managed to get around the car, but Clooney, believed to be riding nearby, was reportedly hit.
In the video, he is seen flipping over the handlebars of his scooter, flying into the air, appearing to hit the windscreen of the car, before tumbling onto the asphalt.
Fortunately the star was wearing a helmet and was driving slowly, but the windscreen of the Mercedes was badly smashed.

The actor's feet were just visible as his injuries were tended to on the road moments after the accident

The scooter could be seen lying in front of the car, with the smashed windscreen clearly visible
An oil stain and police paint remained on the road. Photographs taken by someone passing the scene showed the car's front right bumper damaged and Clooney's scooter on its side.
Viglino is seen rushing to Clooney's aid, as are other witnesses.
He was taken to John Paul II hospital in Olbia, but released after just a few hours.
The actor had a CT scan, which showed no fractures, but he has reportedly suffered trauma to the pelvis, hip and knee which should take around 20 days to heal.
A spokesman for the Oceans 11 actor told Associated Press he was 'recovering at his home and will be fine'.
Clooney's wife Amal, 40, immediately rushed to his side and after two hours, she and George left together via a side exit with security and the local police escort.
The source also told MailOnline: 'The accident happened in a very tourist area, so at that time there was not much traffic.
'Those who saw it will have probably thought of a normal accident also because Clooney's scooter is a normal scooter, there are lots of them around.'
Firefighters arrived at the scene as a safety precaution and in one snap, an extinguisher can be seen abandoned on the road.
A source told MailOnline the actor had been riding his scooter from his house in Puntaldia, Sardinia, to the set of his new Hulu TV series, Catch 22, which is in Capo Ceraso, in Olbia, when the accident occured.
George was at the intersection of Costa Corallina, a tourist village with a private harbour, when he got hit by the car as it turned left to enter the village.
Amal and George, along with their one-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, are living in Sardinia for the summer, where he is filming his new TV series, Catch 22.
The couple had previously been enjoying their European trip alongside George's parents Nina and Nick Clooney, as well as Amal's mother Baria Alamuddin.
Clooney has been staying at a lush, gated rental villa in the high-end Puntaldia neighborhood on Sardinia's northeastern coast, which overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. Staff at the home declined to comment.
The actor is a frequent visitor to Italy. He has a home on Lake Como and was married in Venice in 2014 to British human rights attorney Amal Clooney.

I wasn't there (obviously), but the motorcycles seem to be going awfully fast, from footage of the security video released. What is the speed limit on that road?  Read an article that said George confirmed he was going
65 MPH.  If he and the boys were speeding, they may have come upon the driver faster than the driver anticipated.

By the way- just my opinion-  dude id lucky to be alive, let alone no broken anythings.

George Clooney ferito nell'incidente.

George Clooney ferito nell'incidente.

«Doctor, tell me when I can go back to the set, to shoot». With that face a little 'like that, that expression a bit' so and an Italian like that, George Clooney presented himself to the head of the hospital in Olbia, after receiving the first treatment in the emergency room following the accident.

George Clooney wounded in the accident. The doctor: "Incredible, he just wanted to know when he could get back on the set"

The team of Professor Sebastiano Cudoni, president of the Orthopedic and Traumatologists of Italy (Otodi), has reassured him. "He will feel a bit of pain for a few days, but then everything will be all right." Clooney remained in the hospital in Olbia for about an hour and a half, between the emergency room and the bruised knee radiographs. For the actor it is a blunt trauma that will not stop him from filming the television series Catch-22 (Comma 22 in Italian), although he will have to deal with some physical difficulties in more than necessary.

«He showed up at the hospital, explains prof. Cudoni accompanied by his wife, escort and local authority. We were forced to let it enter a secondary entrance to avoid the crowd, as it is a very well known and recognizable character. No favorable treatment but a precaution for reasons of public order. Because already every day in the emergency room we are dealing with 200 people, if they multiply with the arrival of the curious, everything becomes more complicated ».

But was he nervous and worried? "No, it was quiet enough, though lame. He spoke in Italian and his biggest concern was to resume work. "
Hunters of autographs and selfies have remained dry, thanks to the attentions of the order service and hospital directives who have strictly asked the staff not to take pictures of the patient, although illustrious, is still a patient.

I'm surprised George Clooney's parents did not go the hospital.

I'm extremely surprise there are no pictures of Amal arriving to the hospital.  I have to say it is refreshing not to have a "Daily Mail" article of Amal arriving with a documentary on what Amal is wearing.

Very classy of the Daily Mail to keep Amal out of the pictures.

I rather think George's parents would be more likely to stay with the children - it's not as tho it was a photographic event for the paps at 8 a m in the morning The last thing needed is a Kardashian type event because somebody lost an eyelash!

Here is Stan's official word to People magazine - who say Nina and Nick are there

George Clooney is in recovery mode after being involved in an accident on the Italian island of Sardinia.
The 57-year-old star was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after falling off his scooter on the state road to Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia, La Nuova reported.
“George was treated and released from an Olbia hospital,” a rep for the actor tells PEOPLE. “He is recovering at home and will be fine.”
Police told NBC’s Claudio Lavanga that the accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. local time when a driver of a car allegedly did not “respect the right of way,” cutting across the star’s path and hitting him.
The star fell and the driver of the car rendered assistance, calling an ambulance, Lavanga added.

The father of two was taken to the emergency room of John Paul II hospital after complaining of “a slight trauma to the pelvis and bruises to one leg and an arm,” according to La Nuova. He also reportedly underwent an MRI.
His condition is not serious and he has since been discharged, leaving through a side exit of the hospital, according to the Associated Press. Carabinieri officer Alberto Cicognani confirmed to CNN he spoke to Clooney after the accident, and told the outlet that the actor said he was “fine.”
Giovanni Mannoni, an Italian police commander, also told CNN that Clooney didn’t suffer any serious injuries, including broken bones.
Wife Amal rushed to his side but, after he was given the all clear, they left the hospital together in a private car, La Nuova added.

George is in Sardinia to shoot his Hulu limited series Catch-22.
The actor and his wife along with their 1-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, have been making the most of their time in the seaside location and were recently joined on the Italian island by his parents — who no doubt are helping out by doing some babysitting.
While the couple’s children have largely been kept out of the public eye, those who have met the twins say they are a perfect combination of their parents.
“They’re too beautiful, simply adorable,” a source close to the family recently told PEOPLE. “One looks just like her mother and the other is the image of his father … It looks like they took the best parts of both Amal and George and mixed them together.”

What’s a girl to do... THREE KNUCKLEHEADS at home...and one very sore one....

I’m sure it’s not his first tumble... and possibly not his last....

My sweet boy born under a lucky star.... However (finger wag) we all need to be reminded, every now and then when we least expect it, LIFE IS SHORT....

Every time I leave the house in a mess...I think which poor b@@@@rd is going to clean my mess up....IF I don’t get back....

One thing we ALL share with George C there is only one way out for all of us....and we are all booked to go someday.....like it or not....life is short squeeze the pips out of it and don’t let a head on smash get to you...

ENJOY THE MATCH...

Okay,,, it's too bad he didn't bust his sorry ass, leave the kids fatherless and Amal scrambling to get publicity on her own.

Is that more of what you had in mind?

It looks as if moving and walking is quite painful for him. Maybe they are on their way to London or L.A. for a second examination by a doctor they know?

George Clooney was spotted boarding a private jet to make his way out of Sardinia on Thursday morning, days after he was injured in a scooter crash.
Accompanied by his wife Amal Clooney, 40, the actor appeared slightly frail, as he leaned on the rails to help himself up the jet's stairs ahead of making their journey home with their baby twins Ella and Alexander, one.
Wearing a crisp white polo top and cream linen trousers, the Oscar-winning screen star, 57, also sported cuts and grazes on his arm from his shocking accident, which occurred on Tuesday when a driver ploughed into him.

Leaving on a jet plane: George Clooney and his wife Amal were spotted boarding a private jet as they prepared to fly out of Sardinia on Thursday morning. Amal is seen holding their one-year-old daughter Ella
George was seen getting a helping hand from ground staff as he made his way across the airfield on the back of a buggy, with his wife — who held their daughter Ella in her lap — by his side.

With a nanny keeping an eye on their son Alexander in the front of the buggy, the actor focused on getting himself from the vehicle to the plane, getting aid from dutiful staffers every step of the way.

Shielding his eyes behind a pair of stylish sunglasses, the actor carefully walked a few steps ahead of Amal, who looked typically glamorous in a white sleeveless minidress, which boasted a series of silver rings at the front.
Wearing tinted shades, the human rights lawyer stood tall in a pair of brown open-toe heels as she carried her adorable daughter, who herself looked stylish in a patterned blue dress with a white bonnet.

All eyes on me: The ground staff and a doting Amal kept their eyes on actor George as he made his way onto the luxury jet

The Italian grandfather who smashed into George Clooney's scooter in Sardinia on Tuesday has since revealed that he not see the actor coming because the sun was in his eyes.

Idyllic break: Before the accident occurred, the couple had been enjoying an idyllic break with their twins Alexander and Ella

Son: While the couple sat in the back of the buggy together, their adorable son Alexander was seated with a nanny in the front

Nice and easy: The team kept their heads down as heartthrob George did his best to navigate one of the steps before him
'I didn't see anything, I had the sun on my eyes.

Shoulder: At one point, the star was seen resting his hand on an aide's shoulder as he sought physical support while walking
Footage taken from a street in Italy shows the star being thrown several feet into the air when his scooter collided with an oncoming car.

Something to lean on: At every point throughout his journey to the plane, he was seen holding onto either a rail or a person

Mode of transport: Before his accident, the Hollywood actor was regularly seen zipping through the streets on a two-wheeler

Home: As well as owning property in Los Angeles, George also shares a home with his wife near the River Thames in Berkshire

Thrown: Hollywood heartthrob Clooney is then seen thrown off this bike on the ground after colliding with a vehicle

Journey: Clooney was on his way to Olbia, where he is filming the Hulu show Catch 22, from a  home in Puntaldia

+41

Home away from home: Pictured is the luxury home Clooney was renting from accountant Ezio Maria Simonelli

+41

Visible feet: The actor's feet were just visible as his injuries were tended to on the road moments after the accident

+41

Smashed windscreen: The scooter could be seen lying in front of the car, with the smashed windscreen clearly visible

I don't think he will be back on set anytime soon.  At his age he will take a while too heal. I imagine besides the physical pain , the fact he can't play with the babies is the hardest part.

He looks like he's really stiff and sore - which is only to be expected after an accident. Considering he doesn't like to take painkillers he may be uncomfortable for quite a while.

The articles don't say where they were going, but I'm guessing he's going to consult the doctors who have cared for him since he hurt his back filming Syriana.

I wonder how this will affect the production of Catch 22. Time is money and people have time-related commitments. If he has to be absent from the production for an extended time will he still be able to act in it? Will someone else have to take over his directing duties? I hope he can get back to work soon.

I read is a co-directing

Obviously each one his part

For probably some same-time shooting

There are directors' help
Isn't it ?

Maybe they can carry on for a while

The thing is the director's choice of scenes.....

Well
