Katie - Thanks for explaining both the "Marmite film" and the spammer check. I knew what Marmite was but didn't know about the "love it or hate it" thing.
I thought the spammer check was weird. They ask you if you're a spammer! If you are, you're certainly not going to admit it. "So sorry. Yes, I am. You caught me!". Doesn't make much sense.

Marmite - it's an advertising slogan "you either love it or hate it". Which means that in the UK now, if you want to say something is a thing you'll either love or hate, you can call it a 'marmite thing'. In this case, Leatherheads is a marmite film.
About the spammer block, this site does occasionally stop and ask for credentials. Usually it's when people post quickly in succession, it looks like an automated spam attack and the system stops you and asks for verification.
Have a good Sunday everyone!
THANKS KATIE.....Very well explained on both counts.
You have a Good Sunday too. X
PS......As I've said before I loved Leatherheads. LOL

Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
I've been to the movies last night with my daughter to watch 'Mamma Mia - Here We Go Again'. It was a special womens' screening with lots of fingerfood and nice cocktails and wine (I had to drive so wasn't able to drink anything else than water).
Has anyone if you guys seen the movie yet? I had seen the first film and liked it because
a) I love ABBA music
b) I love Meryl Streep
c) I had already seen the musical the film is based on and liked it.
The sequal contained more relatively unknown songs and plays in the future and the past, meaning that there are always two actors who play the main parts which really confused my daughter.
All in all, it was a really enjoyable and fun evening, a 'feel-good-movie'.
Nothing serious, nothing to worry about, simply enjoyable, a no-brainer...

This play and movie has been around a very long time. I've never seen the play or the movie, something I just can't relate to.carolhathaway wrote:I've been to the movies last night with my daughter to watch 'Mamma Mia - Here We Go Again'. Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
The sequel opens today in the states. I love Meryl Streep, but am not an ABBA fan. I did see the first one only because my friend is a huge Colin Firth fan. It was ok but I couldn’t get those ABBA songs out of my head after I left the theatre!

My mum's going to see it next week. Wild horses wouldn't be able to get me to go - I loathe musicals and Amanda Seyfried equally!

Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
Katie,
I'm not a fan of Amanda Seyfried as well, and I think that she didn't perform well in the sequel.
What I did like about the movie - especially the first one - was that none of the actors is a great singer, but they all did. They weren't afraid to fail or to be critisized, and - as I said - I do like that.

Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
Cute, Ladybug.
Is anyone here a gardener? I'm not, living in an apartment doesn't lend itself to growing much more than the occasional coleus or aloe plant, which are pretty much indestructible.
Anyhoo... a couple of weeks ago I threw a few basil seeds into a pot (probably more than I should - but they were so tiny!) and now they're growing. The thing is, I'm not sure when (or if) I should repot some of the new plants. Their stems are very thin and I'm afraid I'll kill them. Also. how big does the plant get? And how soon can I start to remove the leaves?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have a well known purple thumb.

Maybe you could take PAN's advice and research it.LizzyNY wrote:Cute, Ladybug.

Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
Love basil, Lizzy. Have to confess I buy a pot of the fresh stuff from the supermarket. Although I have a feeling I had a couple of herbs in seed form in my Christmas stocking - wonder if they're any good for planting now. Oh and the ones from the supermarket are about five inches tall, Lizzy.

Re: July 2018 Chit Chat
Well, my little guys are only about 2 1/2 inches tall, so I don't think they're quite ready for picking yet. I did find a lot of information on growing basil, with a lot of warnings about how/when to water and sun exposure. Makes you wonder how the plants ever survived before we started planting them in our gardens.
I planted a pot of oregano seeds at the same time, but I've only gotten two teeny tiny little shoots so far. Seems like they're taking their time. My luck they're late bloomers.
I like planting things. I'm just not very good at it lately. Used to be, but not so much anymore. I'm wondering if it's the potting soil they sell in my local store. Just the one brand and I haven't had much success since I started using it. Or...it could be that I'm not that invested in it anymore. If they grow, they grow. If they don't, there's always the supermarket.
