A former staffer at the Department of Housing and Urban development has said she was demoted because she balked at Ben Carson's request to spend more than the legal limit to redecorate his office.
Helen Foster said she refused when she was told to 'find money' beyond the legal $5,000 limit and was 'retaliated against by being taken out of my position.' In her sworn complaint, she said she told her head she wouldn't misuse taxpayer dollars for the project.
In the sworn complaint from November 2017, which was issued to the Office of the Special Counsel and obtained by CNN, Foster said her supervisor once told her '$5,000 will not even by a decent chair.'
The information emerged after it was revealed by the Guardian that HUD spent taxpayer dollars on a $31,000 dining set for Carson's office.

Helen Foster (left) said she was demoted refused after being told to spend more than the legal $5,000 to redecorate HUD Secretary Ben Carson's office. Carson is pictured right on December 17

Foster said she was repeatedly told to 'find money' beyond the legal limit, and that when she refused she was 'retaliated against by being taken out of my position'
About a month before Carson's confirmation in March she said the HUD's Acting Secretary Craig Clemmensen told her Carson's wife Candy wanted to 'help the Secretary redecorate his office suite.'

Foster said HUD Acting Secretary Craig Clemmensen told her in a one-on-one meeting that the administration 'has always found money for this in the past'
She was then assigned to assist Mrs Carson and getting her 'access and funds for the project.'

Foster said that during that conversation she told Clemmensen the department legally could only spend $5,000 on the project. She said she also passed that information to the administrative officer.
She said she was told more than once to 'find money' that wasn't legally allowed for the project and claims Clemmensen told her in a one-on-one meeting the administration 'has always found money for this in the past.'
Each time she felt pressure it was under the guise of 'Mrs Carson wants to do this. We have to find the money,' Foster claims.
'There was a sense of "we are not going to take no for an answer,"' a separate HUD employee told CNN.
'There was a lot of item spent on this. the most frustrating part of all this was spending so much time on this issue.
'Instead of focusing on HUD's mission, we were talking about furniture for the Secretary's office.'

One of the things Foster said the administration wanted her to 'find money' for was a security system to be set up in Carson's home in Washington. Carson is pictured with President Trump on January 12

Foster said at the time she was frustrated and concerned about the pressure she was being put under and reached out to HUD acting assistant CFO for budget, Sarah Lyberg, on February 13, who told her the administration could not exceed the $5,000 budget.
One of the things Foster said the administration wanted her to 'find money' for was a security system to be set up in Carson's home in Washington.

Foster said her supervisors on March 6 told her to write a memo to justify the purchase of the security system and to mention that Carson was either threatened or in danger. She said she refused to write the memo because she did not think it was justified
She said Kenneth Fee, a special agent in charge of HUD's protective services division, emailed her on February 1, 2017, and requested a security system for his home in Vienna, Virginia be paid for with government funds.
In the email he wrote it was a 'single family home with no fence and backed up to a wooded area.'
Days later Foster reached out to Lyberg and HUD's Michael Moran with questions about the request and was told it was not appropriate for the department to foot the bill.
In a February 22 memo it was stated funds could only be made available for security for a government official if they had been threatened or were in danger, and if 'the risk impairs the official's ability to carry out his or her duties and hence adversely affects the efficient function of the agency.'
Foster said her supervisors on March 6 told her to write a memo to justify the purchase of the security system and to make sure she addressed items in the February 22 memo. She said she refused to write the memo because she did not think it was justified.
An HUD official said Fosters account is false.
'When it comes to decorating the Secretary's office, the only money HUD spent was $3,200 to put up new blinds in his office and the Deputy Secretary's Office,' spokesperson Raffi Williams said in a statement to CNN.
'The Secretary's Administrative officer is aware of the limit and ensured that the limit was not exceeded.'
The Department also provided receipts to CNN showing a total of $3,373.

These revelations about Carson's spending come after it was revealed the Trump administration proposed cutting $6.8billion to HUD's annual budget
But according to the Guardian, HUD agree to spend $165,000 total on 'lounge furniture' for its headquarters in Washington. That is in addition to $31,000 spent on a dining set for Carson's office.
Last week Williams falsely told the newspaper the table had not been bought.
Another federal procurement record shows HUD agreed in December to pay $31,561 to Sebree and Associates for 'secretary's furniture.'
Department officials signed a contract last September with an Indiana-based furniture company, according to a federal procurement record obtained by the Guardian.
On Tuesday American Oversight sued HUD to find out how much Carson was spending to renovate or redecorate his office.
American Oversight said in November it submitted a Freedom of Information Act for more than 20 agencies, one of which was HUD. The group said HUD never responded to their request.
The revelations about Carson's spending come after it was revealed the Trump administration proposed cutting $6.8billion to HUD's annual budget. That would be roughly 14 percent of its total spending and would cause reductions in programs aimed at poor and homeless Americans.

Donnamarie - They won't cancel the dinner. As the owner said, they are contractually obligated to go ahead with it. They could ask the organizers to cancel the auction and raffle - or forbid them from bringing guns onto the premises - but I doubt they'll do that either. They'd probably get sued.

They're going to lose some business over this, but most people will forget about it after a while and start going back. Honestly, nobody wants to ruin Gargulo's business over one mistake. It's been a great family restaurant for decades. Hopefully, Gargulo's management won't accept a booking from the NRA again.

The restaurant hosted the event last year, I don't know if they raffled guns at that one . It says in the article there was no outcry last year.

Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has played down suggestions that moves may be taken to introduce radical gun reforms in the wake of the Florida shootings last week in which 17 people were killed.
Ryan and Republicans are promising measures like universal background checks and restrictions for the mentally ill but not the heavier restrictions favored by some students and Democrats.
'We shouldn't be banning guns for law-abiding citizens,' Ryan said ahead of meeting a group of survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Students and alumni from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School arrive for a meeting with Speaker Paul Ryan at his offices in the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday - many have accused the Republicans of dragging their feet over the issue
'We should be focusing on making sure that citizens who should not get guns in the first place, don't get those guns.

'And that is why we see a big breakdown in the system here.'
Mr Ryan said that proposals by President Trump - due to be released later this week - to arm teachers and raise the minimum age a person can buy semiautomatic rifles from 18 to 21 to 21 were not likely to be supported by Congress.

Local governments, not Congress, should decide whether to arm teachers, he said.
Ryan said that more aggressive gun limits, like a ban on the military-style rifle used by the 19-year-old Parkland shooter, were also unlikely to gain traction in Congress.
Parkland students who met Ryan pushed for a ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, as well as other school-safety features, said Representative Ted Deutch, a Democrat who represents the district.
'This isn't the last time they they're going to come to Washington,' Deutch said. 'It's really just the beginning of that effort.'
Students grieving for slain classmates are meanwhile preparing for an emotional return Wednesday to their Florida high school where the mass shooting shocked the nation and led teen survivors to spur a growing movement to tighten America's gun laws.

Seventeen people recently dressed as angels to stand at the memorial outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida
The community of Parkland, Florida, where residents were plunged into tragedy two weeks ago, steeled itself for the resumption of classes at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where nearby flower-draped memorials and 17 white crosses pay tribute to the 14 students and three staff members who were murdered by a former student.
'Looking forward to tomorrow Eagles! Remember our focus is on emotional readiness and comfort not curriculum: so there is no need for backpacks,' school principal Ty Thompson tweeted.
'Come ready to start the healing process and #RECLAIMTHENEST.'
Some students were filled with trepidation about the day ahead.
'It's a whole different bunch of emotions. I'm scared but I'm also happy to get back to a sense of normalcy,' 16-year-old Tanzil Philip told AFP.

'I just don't know how I will feel until I get back in there without my parents and we are all sitting down.'
Prosecutors have said Florida gunman Nikolas Cruz used a legally purchased rifle and federal and local law enforcement agencies have acknowledged receiving multiple warnings about his potential for violence.
Trump and his fellow Republicans are under pressure to act following the massacre, but they also must avoid angering Republican voters who broadly support gun rights as well as interest groups like the NRA, which spent $55 million in the 2016 election.

President Donald Trump is a strong supporter of the armed teachers idea - on Saturday he tweeted that it would be an 'inexpensive deterrent' compared to paying for more security guards.

The president promised yearly bonuses to those who kept weapons in their classroom. He wants as many as 20 percent of teachers with concealed-and-carry permits, promising that educators who chose to have weapons in their classroom would receive a 'yearly bonus'.
Neither Trump nor the White House has said who would pay to train them, but the decision would be 'up to states'.
'Armed Educators (and trusted people who work within a school) love our students and will protect them, the president said.

'Very smart people. Must be firearms adept & have annual training. Should get year bonus.
'Shootings will not happen again - a big & very inexpensive deterrent.'
The president said it was now 'up to states' to decide if they wanted to do anything about armed attacks on schools.
In January two people were killed and 17 injured in a high school shooting in the town of Benton, Kentucky. a 15-year-old male student was arrested.
An attack last week on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida  resulted in the deaths of at least in 17 people.
Reports from Kentucky say that Pike County Central High School is working with the County Sheriff to formalize a program that will allow teachers to carry weapons inside schools. The plan is expected to be opposed by The plan is expected to attract some opposition, Lex18.com reported, because no schools in the state currently allow teachers to carry weapons.

Likewise the The House and Senate Appropriations Committees in Florida voted to approve bills that create a new program to arm teachers in classrooms, the Washington Post reported.
The House bill creates a 'school marshal' program that would cost $67 million, most of it to be used for training, and would allow teachers to carry weapons in districts where officials say there is a risk of attack.
The proposed legislation also put new limits on gun purchases; it imposes a three-day waiting period and raises the age for anyone to buy a gun from 18 to 21.
In addition it provides $400 million - among other things - to put school resource officers in every public school and shore up mental-health counselling.

Dick’s Sporting Goods company has decided not to sell AR15s at their stores any longer.  They have stores across the nation and in addition to selling all kinds of sports equipment and apparel they do sell guns.  After Sandy Hook they stopped selling the semiautomatic weapons in most of their stores.  Now they will be banned from all of their stores and the company is raising the age of purchase of their other guns to 21 years.  It’s a step in the right direction to see a handful of companies sending a message to the NRA that we don’t agree with your position.  They certainly have been far more responsive than anything coming out of Congress at this point.  I doubt Congress will do much of anything.  It’s going to be up to everyone else to keep this issue alive.

The local sheriff has already asked for assistance from state troopers and other nearby law enforcement, fearing a repeat of the Charlottesville violence last August that left an anti-racism demonstrator dead.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a left-leaning advocacy group that monitors what it calls 'hate groups,' says the Three Percenters are part of the 'radical right.'

'They are a self-styled militia driven by conspiracy theories on the radical right,' SPLC spokesman Ryan Lenz told The News Virginian in the nearby town of Waynesboro.
Three Percenters members were recognized in Charlottesville by their distinctive patches, which feature a Roman numeral 'III.' Some also include the image of a Confederate battle flag.
They openly carried military-style rifles during the August 'Unite the Right' rally. But the group will not need a permit to hold their next event, the local sheriff told the paper.
The state of Virginia allows residents over the age of 18 to openly carry loaded rifles in public without a special license.
'We are taking this incident seriously and, as a precautionary measure, I have reached out to the Virginia State Police and regional local law enforcement for assistance,' Sheriff Donald Smith said in a press release.
'I want to assure our residents and local businesses that we are diligently working to assess and manage this situation.'

County authorities hope to avoid a repeat of the clashes last August in Charlottesville that left one woman dead when a white nationalist plowed his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counter-protesters.
Police have charged 20-year-old Alex Fields, Jr. with second-degree murder.
A few hundred white supremacists, neo-Confederates and other supporters had chanted 'white lives matter' and 'Jews will not replace us' as they marched against the removal of a Confederate memorial.
One former Three Percenter member was reportedly arrested during the march.
The SPLC identifies Chris Hill of Georgia, a former U.S. Marine, as the group's national coordinator.
NBC News spoke to Hill in September 2016 while he led an armed protest of a government meeting about the construction of a Mosque.
'Right over there, this is going to be a future ISIS training group. This is where you're going to see terrorism taking hold in Newton County,' he said then, pointing to the building site.
'It's tied to terrorism, everything from 9/11 to Boston bombings to the Fort Hood shooting, to the coup in Turkey. It's all connected.'

During one 2015 anti-refugee rally in Idaho, the state's Three Percenter spokesman shouted that 'refugees coming from Islamic hotbeds of terrorism – don't you think that poses a threat to Idaho communities?'
In February 2017 the SPLC cited another Three Percenter, David Wright, whose anti-Muslim 'Bureau of American Islamic Relations' held an armed demonstration a year earlier near Dallas outside a place of Islamic worship.
Wright wrote on Facebook that his militia 'monitor[s]' Muslims.
'We show up in their neighborhoods armed and let them know they're being watched and if they f**k up my guys will take em out. That's exactly what needs to happen,' he boasted.
Nexus CEO Mike Donovan claimed Monday in a press release that the group stands for 'the right to accumulate weapons of war, and the nationalistic attitude preventing immigrants from preserving their rights.'
The militia's decision to target a company offering immigration bonds without collateral to federal detainees – those who are willing to wear GPS monitors and pay a monthly fee – appears intended to provoke.

Hill and his group posed in Atlanta near Olympic Park
The business model is controversial, and detractors range from immigrant advocates who call the costs excessive to anti-immigrant activists who prefer potential deportees stay behind bars.
A congressional mandate requires U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to maintain at least 34,000 beds for use in immigration jails.
But immigration judges can offer bond opportunities to people who are in the country without documents. That's a privilege usually extended to people who have no criminal records and strong family ties in the U.S.
The minimum bond about is $1,500 but the amounts can skyrocket beyond many people's ability to pay.
One 2015 study by a USC law professor found that in central California typical bond amounts ranged from $10,000 to more than $80,000.
Donovan claimed Monday that the impending protest represents 'the forces of hate, ignorance, and white supremacy' that could turn 'hatred and vitriol against a group of people just because of what they look like, what color they are, or where they come from.'
The Three Percenters present a public image that claims to be anti-racist and focused on defending the U.S. Constitution, especially on the hot-button issue of gun rights.
'Now not only are the ultra-liberal elite trying to ban the sale of new semi-automatic rifles but, yes, they are trying to take the old ones too,' one of their bloggers claimed last week following a deadly firearm massacre at a Florida school.

After the clashes in Charlottesville, the group issued a 'stand down order,' blaming Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters for 'show[ing] up to counter-protest against alt-right white supremacists and Nazi groups.'
The Three Percenters take their name from a mythical 3 percent of colonists who fought against the British during the American Revolution.
Attempts to reach leaders of their Virginia contingent on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
One self-professed Three Percenter adherent, Jerry Drake Varnell, was charged last year with attempting to detonate a half-ton of explosives in a van outside an Oklahoma City bank building.
The FBI had been targeting Varnell, ensuring that what he thought was a bomb was actually a harmless device. His arrest came on the same day white supremacists rallied in Charlottesville.
Speaking to undercover agents last June, he acknowledged that his bomb might be deadly, saying that 'you got to break a couple of eggs to make an omelet,' according to the federal complaint filed against him.
Vardell had reportedly expressed admiration for the 1995 Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

TEACHER is arrested after 'firing his gun' and causing mass panic inside a Georgia high school - just days after he posted his frustration on Facebook at political inaction over the Parkland massacre

 • A teacher was arrested after reports of shots fired at a school in Dalton, GA

 •  It is unclear what happened at this time, but police say no students were in danger when the incident unfolded

 • The arrest comes two weeks after a former student shot and killed 17 people in a high school in Parkland, Fl

 • President Trump has suggested arming teachers in the wake of the Parkland shooting

Police officers responded Wednesday to a Georgia high school after reports of shots fired and a teacher barricaded in a classroom, authorities said.
Police in Dalton tweeted that the teacher was in custody and no children were ever in danger. During an afternoon press conference, authorities identified the teacher as Randal Davidson, 53, who also worked as an announcer during the school's football games.
Davidson, who teaches social studies and has been with the school since 2004, allegedly barricaded himself inside of a classroom, not allowing students to enter. When the principal came to attempt to unlock the door, a shot was fired.
Students shared videos to Snapchat of fellow students running through the hallways of Dalton High School and being escorted out of the building by police.

Shots fired at Dalton High School, the teacher was arrested after barricading himself in a classroom for 30 minutes on Wednesday morning
A student apparently suffered an ankle injury running inside the school as the building was evacuated.
The incident was announced just after 11:15am on the Dalton Police Department Twitter, reporting that 'shot or shots' had been fired at the high school on the department's official Twitter account.
Minutes later, DPD added that the armed suspect was barricaded inside a classroom at the school and urged parents not to come to the school.
Davidson was barricaded inside the classroom for about 30 minutes before he was taken into custody.
Police say a 'threatening' note was found last week at the high school.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the note was related to the shooting Wednesday.
Police say the note was found Feb. 21, and mentioned a threat against the school the following day.
Assistant Police Chief Cliff Cason said in a statement at the time that officers planned an increased presence at the city's schools in response to the note.

Police have not said why Davidson fired the gun.
A mother of one of the students says she was terrified as her daughter texted her while hiding inside her darkened classroom as police responded to reports of gunfire inside the school.
Annmarie Jacobs says her daughter Emma texted that her teacher had turned the lights off and told the students to sit in a corner.
Then, in an act that brought home the danger of the situation, her daughter texted, 'omg she's putting desk in front of the door.'
Jacobs said she was about 100 miles away from Dalton High School and driving through Tennessee when she got the texts, and pulled over on the roadside, shaking.
The incident happened two weeks after a school shooting in Florida left 17 students and faculty dead and put the country on edge.
The high school's website says it has 2,000 students. Dalton is about 90 miles north of Atlanta.
President Trump suggested arming teachers in the wake of a deadly school shooting earlier this month in Parkland, Florida, where 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz stormed his former high school and killed 17 people with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle.

The president proposed a controversial bill last Wednesday to provide as many as 20 percent of teachers with concealed and carry permits after meeting with students from Marjory Stoneman High School.
He beefed up his proposal saying educators who chose to have weapons in their classroom would receive a 'yearly bonus'.
Neither Trump nor the White House has said who would pay to train them, but the decision would be 'up to states'.
He doubled down on the proposal on Saturday, stating in a tweet: 'Armed Educators (and trusted people who work within a school) lover our students and will protect them.
'Very smart people. Must be firearms adept & have annual training. Should get yearly bonus. Shootings will not happen again - a big & very inexpensive deterrent. Up to States.'

President Donald Trump reportedly 'berated' White House communications director Hope Hicks after she admitted telling 'white lies' for the president during her testimony to the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.
A source made the revelation to CNN's Erin Burnett just hours after it was announced that Hicks would be departing the White House in the coming weeks, leaving a giant hole in the inner circle Trump trusts most.
Burnett claims an angry Trump asked Hicks after her testimony 'how she could be so stupid.
'Apparently, that was the final straw for Hope Hicks,' Burnett claimed.

But White House spokesman Hogan Gidley called the report that Trump berated her 'false'.
Hicks spent nine hours on Tuesday testifying before the House Intelligence Committee and parrying questions about the Trump campaign's alleged contacts with Russian nationals.
She told committee members that while she sometimes told 'white lies' for Trump, she had always been truthful about the Russia matter.

Investigators for special counsel Robert Mueller asked Hicks about a comment she made The New York Times two days after the 2016 election, according to CNN

Investigators for special counsel Robert Mueller asked Hicks about a comment she made to The New York Times two days after the 2016 election.
'We are not aware of any campaign representatives that were in touch with any foreign entities before yesterday, when Mr. Trump spoke with many world leaders,' Hicks said at the time.
According to CNN, a former Trump campaign official who was asked about Hicks' 2016 comment said it has come up with Mueller's team as well as with House and Senate Intelligence Committees.
In a statement released on Wednesday evening., Trump praised his loyal right-hand woman whom he often referred to as 'Hopester.'
'Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years,' he said. 'She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.'
The New York Times was first to report on Hicks' departure.
Hicks, 29, said Wednesday that '[t]here are no words to adequately express my gratitude to President Trump.'
'I wish the President and his administration the very best as he continues to lead our country.'
Ivanka Trump, the president's elder daughter, wrote on Twitter an hour after the announcement that Hicks 'is loved & admired by all who know her.'
'It's with a heavy heart, but tremendous gratitude, that I wish her well in her next steps.'
Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway sang a similar tune.
'I love you and will miss you, Hope Hicks,' Conway wrote.
Stephanie Grisham, Hicks' counterpart in the East Wing as first lady Melania's communications director, also tweeted her well-wishes.
'Wishing Hope Hicks all the best! So very sad to see her go - professional, poised, talented & the best sense of humor,' Grisham tweeted.
With Hicks on the way out, Grisham remains part of a small cadre of Trump campaign veterans who commands the first family's trust.

Hicks was an unusually quiet and reserved White House communications director, avoiding drawing attention to herself despite serving in a job that's tailor-made for extroverts.
She never sat for a single interview during her time at Trump's side.
The president's longest-serving adviser in the world of politics, she accompanied him on the road throughout the grueling campaign and then moved to the White House, occupying a desk just feet from the Oval Office.
A veritable army of one in the campaign's early days, Hicks did everything from coordinating advance staffers and taking notes for Trump's speeches to helping him tape down the short end of his neckties and steaming his suits – while he was wearing them.
But a laughing Trump told a Christmastime rally in 2016 that she knew 'absolutely nothing' about politics when he moved her from Trump Tower into his unlikely presidential quest.

She first worked for the Trump Organization as a public relations adviser to Ivanka Trump, and later gravitated more toward the future president's direct orbit.
Hicks was the fourth communications director to serve in the Trump White House, following Michael Dubke, a double-duty stint by then-Press Secretary Sean Spicer, and the flamboyant – and quick to flame out – Anthony Scaramucci.
She took over after Scaramucci's tumultuous 11-day tenure and was credited with stabilizing the communications operation behind the scenes in the West Wing.
After Hicks is gone, it's likely that Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp or Deputy Communications Director Jessica Ditto will be asked to step in.
Joshua Raffel, an outside PR consultant who works principally with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, is also leaving the White House soon.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Wednesday that there was 'not a definitive timeline' for her departure.
Asked if her resignation had anything to do with her marathon on Capitol Hill, Sanders replied: 'Nothing at all whatsoever.'
Outside her office, she told hovering journalists that Hicks is 'not leaving this afternoon' but would eventually be 'going to spend some time with her family.'
Sanders said she didn't know if Hicks had spoken to Trump about her 'white lies' admission to Congress, but cautioned: 'Don't try to read more into it than it exists.'
'I know that he is not unhappy with her in any way,' she said about Trump's view of Hicks.

Sanders told reporters that Hicks had 'been thinking about [leaving] before that.'
'This is something she's been thinking about for awhile,' she added. 'So it's maybe surprising for you guys, but she's – it's not like it happened overnight.'
A person with knowledge of the Hicks-Porter relationship told DailyMail.com two weeks ago that the pair were no longer dating.

Jared Kushner’s family real estate business received hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from two giant investment firms after he held meetings with their executives in the White House last year, it was reported on Wednesday.
Kushner Companies received over $500million from Apollo Global Management and Citigroup, according to The New York Times.
The loan payments will likely raise ethics questions since White House officials are typically not permitted to use their positions in order to benefit their personal businesses.
Kushner's business received $184million from Apollo in early 2017 after a series of meetings he held at the White House with the equity firm’s founder, Joshua Harris.

Jared Kushner’s family real estate business received hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from two giant investment firms after he held meetings with their executives in the White House last year, it was reported on Wednesday
Harris was reportedly at the White House frequently to advise the administration on infrastructure policy.

The loan that his company gave to Kushner’s firm was to refinance a mortgage on a skyscraper that he owns in Chicago.
In the spring of 2017, Kushner Companies and one of its partners received an even larger loan - $325million from Citigroup.
That loan was to help finance a number of office buildings in Brooklyn, according to the Times.
Citigroup extended the loan to Kushner Companies after Jared Kushner met at the White House with the firm’s CEO, Michael Corbat.

Abbe Lowell, Kushner’s lawyer, did not dispute that the meetings took place.
A spokesperson for Lowell, Peter Mirijanian, said Kushner ‘has met with hundreds of business people.’
He said Kushner ‘has taken no part of any business, loans or projects with or for’ Kushner Companies since he joined the Trump administration.

Kushner is considered a top aide to the president who has an extensive portfolio that includes Israeli-Palestinian peace; relations with Canada, Mexico, and China; and streamlining government services.
A spokesperson for Kushner Companies denied that Jared Kushner’s White House role played a part in securing the loans.
‘Stories like these attempt to make insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved,’ the spokesperson said.
A spokesperson for Apollo also denied there was any impropriety in the equity firm’s decision to extend the loan.
The spokesperson said that Harris was not involved in the decision and that the loan ‘went through the firm’s standard approval process.’
Citigroup said that the loan to Kushner Companies was negotiated with another real estate developer and that the payment had no connection to Jared Kushner’s position in the White House.
Last year Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, resigned from Kushner Cos and sold his stake to a family trust as part of an effort to avoid conflicts of interests in his White House role.

Kushner’s finances have attracted scrutiny from authorities since he came to the White House.
New York’s state banking regulator asked Deutsche Bank AG and two other lenders for information on their relationships Jared Kushner and his family’s real estate company, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) made the requests to Deutsche Bank, Signature Bank and New York Community Bank for information on loans and other financial arrangements including lines of credit and loan guarantees a week ago, the person said.
The regulator also asked for information related to other family members, the person said.
Christine Taylor, a spokeswoman for Kushner Cos, said the company had not received a copy of any letter from the regulator. She described Kushner Cos as a ‘multibillion dollar enterprise that is extremely financially strong.

‘Prior to our CEO voluntarily resigning to serve our country, we never had any type of inquiries,’ Taylor said in an email.
‘These types of inquiries appear to be harassment solely for political reasons.’
As New York’s bank regulator, DFS supervises the New York branch of Deutsche Bank, Germany’s flagship lender, along with the two state-chartered lenders.
If DFS finds the loans somehow violate banking law, it could fine the banks or take other corrective action with regard to their business practices, said New York attorney Daniel Alter, former general counsel at DFS.
If the regulator finds potential criminal activity by either the borrowers or the banks, it could also refer the matter to prosecutors for further investigation, Alter said.
Kushner lost his interim top-secret security clearance, two US officials familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

Kids' softball program will STILL raffle off AR-15-style gun - similar to the weapon used in the Florida school massacre - dividing community

 • The Lady Dragons fast-pitch youth softball program will move forward with a raffle that has been underway since January 30 and includes an AR-15 rifle

 • Community members in Dallas, Oregon have mixed feelings about the prize

 • The division follows the highly publicized high school shooting in Florida on February 14, where an AR-15 was used to kill 17 people and injure 15 others

 • Community leaders have labelled it 'distasteful' and warned it would 'reflect negatively on the program'

PUBLISHED: 06:24 EST, 28 February 2018 | UPDATED: 19:44 EST, 28 February 2018

A youth softball program in Oregon has decided to move forward with plans to raffle off an AR-15-style assault weapon as part of a fundraiser, despite divided opinions in the community.
The Lady Dragons fast-pitch program has been criticized for the decision to keep the firearm as part of the raffle after the same type of weapon was used to massacre 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida on February 14.
The youth softball organization provided a statement to the Statesman Journal on Monday saying they sympathized with current events, but that the fundraiser 'is a legal, well-regulated raffle, with tickets being sold to willing and able purchasers'.
Community members have voiced their upset with the decision, with former Dallas High School teacher Rebecca Penna saying 'the impression it gives is distasteful'.

Michelle Johnstone, superintendent of the Dallas School District, stressed that the program was not affiliated with the school district in any way.

Despite the division in the community, the Lady Dragons stand by their decision to continue to sell tickets for the raffle of the firearm, which was provided by a private donor.
'Raffling a high-ticket item, yes, even a firearm, has been done by similar sports organizations with great success,' the program's statement read.
Dallas City Council President Micky Garus, who sits on the board of the Lady Dragons youth program, said many tickets had been purchased for the raffle.

Jim Moore, director of the Tom McCall Center for Policy Innovation at Pacific University in Forest, said continuing with the raffle could reflect negatively on the program.
He made mention that the board members making these decisions weren't the ones on the field, wearing the uniforms.
'They are in the political sphere right now by doing this,' Moore said.
'The post-Florida landscape … changes the political calculus.'
Additionally, there was also some push-back against the rifle raffle within the community, prior to Nikolas Cruz, 19, admitting to shooting and killing 17 people and injuring 15 others with an AR-15 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine's Day, according to Garus.

The division follows the highly publicized high school shooting in Florida on February 14, where an AR-15 was used to kill 17 people and injure 15 others
Garus said, in a Facebook post on February 3, that he had been kicked off of the social media website for 24 hours after posting details about the raffle.
'It's really sad,' he wrote in the post.
'We are trying to do something good for our community by providing funding opportunities for youth sports, and it resulted in a few people dictating to the majority what they deemed inappropriate.'
Jody Lewis, who currently lives in Eugene but grew up in Dallas, said, 'It's been incredibly polarizing.'
The organization reiterated on Monday that all legally required precautions would be taken to ensure the rifle went to a permissible gun owner.
'The winner of the raffle will have to pass all necessary background checks, the same as would be required of them to purchase the rifle,' the statement to the Statesman read.
The Facebook page for the program, where details could be found about the raffle which began selling tickets on January 30, appears to have been disabled.
The Lady Dragons fast-pitch softball program of Dallas, Oregon, is hosting the fundraiser for equipment, field improvements and to help ensure registration fees remain low for families.
The program has teams for girls ages 10-and-under through 16-and-under.
The raffle is scheduled to take place on April 4.

Putin reveals Russia has tested new nuclear missiles that cannot be intercepted and can strike almost anywhere in the world

 • Vladimir Putin claims Russia has nuclear weapons 'immune to interception'

President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia has tested an array of new nuclear weapons 'invulnerable to enemy interception'.
Speaking in a state-of-the-nation speech in Moscow, Putin said the weapons include a nuclear-powered cruise missile, a nuclear-powered underwater drone and new hypersonic missile.
He said the creation of the new weapons has made NATO's U.S.-led missile defense 'useless,' and means an effective end to what he described as Western efforts to stymie Russia's development.

Bragging: Russian President Vladimir Putin boasted that Russia had made a cruise missile 'able to reach almost any point in the world' that could penetrate any missile defence

He said: 'I want to tell all those who have fueled the arms race over the last 15 years, sought to win unilateral advantages over Russia, introduced unlawful sanctions aimed to contain our country's development: all what you wanted to impede with your policies have already happened.
'You have failed to contain Russia.'
He said that the nuclear-powered cruise missile tested last fall has an unlimited range and high speed and maneuverability allowing it to pierce any missile defense.

The Russian leader said the high-speed underwater drone also has an 'intercontinental' range and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead that could target both aircraft carriers and coastal facilities.
He said its operational depth and high speed would make it immune to enemy intercept.
He added to applause that names for the nuclear-powered cruise missile and the drone haven't yet been chosen, and suggested that the Defense Ministry run a nationwide contest for the best names.

Leading man: President Putin announced the nuclear weapons developments during his annual state of the nation address in Manezh in Moscow, Russia
Putin accompanied his statement to an audience of hundreds of senior officials and lawmakers with videos and computer images of new weapons, which were shown on giant screens at a conference hall near the Kremlin.
'No one in the world has anything like that,' he said. 'It may appear someday, but by that time we will develop something new.'
The Russian leader said that another new weapon called Avangard is an intercontinental hypersonic missile that would fly to targets at a speed 20 times the speed of sound and strike 'like a meteorite, like a fireball.'
Putin said that Russia also tested a new heavy intercontinental ballistic missile, called Sarmat, with a range and number of warheads exceeding its Soviet-era predecessor, known in the West as Satan.
The Russian leader emphasized that the development of new weapons that have no equivalent in the West came in response to the U.S. withdrawal from a Cold war-era treaty banning missile defenses and U.S. efforts to develop a missile defense system.
He said that the U.S. has ignored Russian complaints.
'No one has listened to us,' he said. 'You listen to us now.'
He said the new weapons will help ensure global stability and draw a line under attempts to weaken Russia.
He said that another weapons system, called Kinzhal, already has been deployed in Russia's Southern Military District. He said it's a hypersonic missile carried by an aircraft that can strike targets 2,000

Putin: New nuclear missile is 'a powerful mighty weapon'

In December last year, it was reported that Russia is looking to expand its nuclear forces to comprise a total of 8,000 warheads by 2026.
These potential plans were alluded to today by a Russian Industry Minister who said the new weapons mentioned by Putin are part of a defence spending programme to 2017, signed last year.
Even a small increase in the number of nuclear warheads would put Russia at risk of violating theNew Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, known as New START, signed by both U.S. and Russia and in 2010 which limits the number of nuclear warheads to 1,550 each.
At Russia's insistence, each bomber is counted as a single warhead, no matter how many nuclear bombs it carries or has ready for use. As a result, the real limit for each side is about 2,000.
However, reaty limits the numbers, but it says nothing about the design of the 'delivery' methods - land- and submarine-based ballistic missiles, hydrogen bombs and cruise missiles.
This has enabled both sides to increase the killing power of nuclear warheads, upgrading the delivery vehicles so that they are bigger, more accurate and equipped with dangerous new features - without increasing the number of warheads or vehicles.
Today's televised speech was timed to closely precede the March 18 election, in which Putin is set to easily win a fourth term.
The Russian leader's approval ratings top 80 per cent despite an economic slowdown caused by continuing tensions with the West and a drop in global oil prices.

America officially no longer seeks to be a “nation of immigrants.”
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency announced last week that they would be changing their mission statement. Particularly, the organization is removing language that recognized the United States of America as a “nation of immigrants.”This decision comes under the federal agency’s new director, L. Francis Cissna, appointed by President Trump in April 2017.
USCIS’s original mission statement read:
“USCIS secures America’s promise as a nation of immigrants by providing accurate and useful information to our customers, granting immigration and citizenship benefits, promoting an awareness and understanding of citizenship, and ensuring the integrity of our immigration system.”
The new mission statement reads:
“U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services administers the nation’s lawful immigration system, safeguarding its integrity and promise by efficiently and fairly adjudicating requests for immigration benefits while protecting Americans, securing the homeland, and honoring our values.”

Cissna explained that the statement reflects the importance of the protection of the American people: “I believe this simple, straightforward statement clearly defines the agency’s role in our country’s lawful immigration system and the commitment we have to the American people,” the director wrote in a statement.
Cissna, the son of an immigrant who moved to the U.S. from Peru and the husband to a Middle Eastern immigrant, has faced criticism following the revisions made to the mission statement. Many people voiced their outrage on social media. “Cissna is the worst kind of immigrant. The kind that burns the bridge behind him,” wrote one person, while another wrote, “Francis Cissna’s mother was an immigrant from Peru and he grew up speaking Spanish at home. What is the Spanish word for ‘hypocrite’?”
The backlash may be due to Cissna’s message when he was a nominee for Director of USCIS. “The immigrant experience has always been a fundamental part of my family life, and I would be proud to carry that heritage with me,” the director told the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing last May. “Our family is literally a product of our nation’s legal immigration system. Should I be confirmed, these experiences will undoubtedly illuminate everything I do as USCIS director.”

This is outrageous.   Legal or not our country has always stood for welcoming those who wanted to build better lives for themselves. Just like Mr. Cissna’s own family obviously has.  I suspect when this sorry administration is out of office the mission statement will most likely be changed.  We are a nation of immigrants.  We have never had to qualify that description to include the word ‘legal’.

President Donald Trump announced on August 9, 2016 at a campaign rally in North Carolina that a press conference would be held in the coming weekend to discuss how his third wife Melania Knaus became an American citizen.
That press conference has yet to happen, but a little over a month later Melaniaposted a letter from one of her husband's lawyers stating that she had obtained an EB-1 Visa in 2001 and through that was granted citizenship five years later, all on her own accord.
This claim has left many puzzled however as to how Melania would qualify for what has become known as the 'Einstein Visa,' which is reserved for 'persons with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics.'

Mayne Einstein: Melania Trump (above last month in Cincinnati) was granted at EB-1 Visa in 2001 which gave her a path to citizenship
Melania opted for a tweet rather than a press conference in September 2016, taking to Twitter and declaring: 'I am pleased to include a letter from my immigration attorney which states that with 100% certainty I correctly went through the legal process when arriving in the USA.'

The letter, from Michael Wildes, stated that Melania first entered the United States on August 27, 1996 with a visitor visa before being granted an H-1B visa that October which allowed her to do modelling work.
Wildes stated that she obtained five of those visas until in March 2001 she successfully applied for and was granted her EB-1 visa.

At that time, residents of Slovenia were forced to reapply for the H-1B annually, making the EB-1 a far more convenient option for any 'extraordinary' Slovenians.
Melania was just one of six people from her country who was able to obtain an EB-1 back in 2001, making her feat all the more impressive.
In order to apply for the EB-1, a foreign-born citizen must 'demonstrate extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics through sustained national or international acclaim.'
Applicants must submit evidence to back their claim of 'extraordinary ability' in at least three out of ten criteria, which were outlined in the Immigration Act of 1990.
These include receiving nationally or internationally recognized prizes, membership in outstanding achievement organizations, authorship of scholarly articles, commercial success and holding a critical role in distinguished organizations.
It is not clean what Melania cited as evidence in her application as she has never spoken about her path to citizenship beyond posting Wildes' letter.
Even if that evidence is deemed acceptable, the applicant must then prove they are 'one of that small percentage who have risen to the very top of the field of endeavor' and show sustained acclaim in their field from peers.
Two months after the release of the letter it also emerged that Melania was working in the country prior to receiving her H-1B visa, with records showing she took at least 10 jobs between August and October of 1996 while still on a visitor visa.
'I came here for my career, and I did so well, I moved here. It never crossed my mind to stay here without papers,' Melania said in the February 2016 issue of Harper's Bazaar.
'That is just the person you are. You follow the rules. You follow the law. Every few months you need to fly back to Europe and stamp your visa. After a few visas, I applied for a green card and got it in 2001. After the green card, I applied for citizenship. And it was a long process.'
That interview prompted Wildes to initially claim that Melania had achieved that 2001 visa through marriage, despite the fact that she and Donald did not marry until 2005 in Mar-a-Lago.
Wildes then changed his tune a few months later, stating in was an EB-1 Visa that Melania got to stay in the country, which then allowed her to secure citizenship on her own.
Musicians John Lennon and Yoko Ono and atletes Dirk Nowitzki and Monica Seles are a few of the famous names who have been granted EB-1 Visas

A leader of the National Rifle Association has declared that President Donald Trumpdoes not want gun control.
On Thursday, President Trump said he had a 'great' meeting at the White House with the gun lobby - one day after the president told lawmakers to take people's guns away and 'go through due process second.'
'Good (Great) meeting in the Oval Office tonight with the NRA!' Trump tweeted.
But Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, said that the president supports the Second Amendment and safe schools - but not gun control.

On Thursday, President Trump said he had a 'great' meeting at the White House o with the gun lobby
'I had a great meeting tonight with @realDonaldTrump & @VP. We all want safe schools, mental health reform and to keep guns away from dangerous people,' Cox tweeted.

'POTUS & VPOTUS support the Second Amendment, support strong due process and don't want gun control. #NRA #MAGA'
On Wednesday, the presidents stunned both Democrats and Republicans when he pushed for gun control measures on Wednesday.

During a televised hour-long sitdown with a bipartisan group of congressional leaders, the commander-in-chief appeared to back a bill proposed by Democratic Sen Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican Sen Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
The bill, proposed in 2013 would expand background checks for weapons purchases. It was written in response to the 2012 massacre at the Sandy Hook school in Newtown, Connecticut but  failed in the Senate due to intense Republican opposition.
At the same time, Trump also rejected the GOP's proposed Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which would allow people with permits to carry guns across state lines.

The NRA has faced mass criticism for its opposition to gun control in the days following last month's shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida (Pictured, Chris Cox, July 2016)

'I just don't think you're going to get it approved. Amy and Dianne and a lot of other people - they're never going to consider it,' he told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La), referring to Democratic Sens Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Dianne Feinstein of California.
Trump also accused Toomey of being 'afraid' of the NRA while attempting to insist of his his own independence from the organization.
The NRA has faced mass criticism for its opposition to gun control in the days following last month's shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
The confessed gunman, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, legally obtained the AR-15 rifle allegedly used in the shooting spree that that left 17 students and faculty dead and 14 wounded.
At a CNN town hall last month, survivors from the shooting challenged NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch while questioning Florida Sen Marco Rubio (R) on his past contributions from such groups.
Trump suggested that the dynamics in Washington had changed since the shooting , a sentiment that the Democrats in the room on Wednesday readily appeared to embrace as they saw the president supporting their ideas.
'It would be so beautiful to have one bill that everyone could support,' . Trump said as Sen Feinstein, a longtime advocate of gun control, sat smiling to his left. 'It's time that a president stepped up.

A new perspective on the gun issue (something I never thought of):

A voicer writing in the NY Daily News today made an interesting point. Our Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms because we need a "well ordered militia". His point was that we already have a well ordered militia - it's called the National Guard! They fulfill the Constitutional provision. Any other civilian gun owner is just a hobbyist.

Icahn's firm didn't have an immediate comment.
Trump regularly praised Icahn on the campaign trail in 2016. He served as a special advisor to Trump but resigned in August amid criticism of his status while holding massive financial holdings.
'Carl Icahn is one of the greatest business people, Trump said at a campaign rally in Georgia in Feburary 2016. 'I have the greatest negotiators in the world. We use political hacks to negotiate these massive trade deals,' he said.
Icahn gained $510 million through stock market gains the day Trump announced his advisory role back in December 2016, Forbes reported at the time.

I know that if a stockbroker gives advance information about a deal to a client in order to help them make/save money it is a criminal offense (insider trading). Does anyone know if there's some law that would apply to Trump giving Icahn information that allowed him to dump his stock before it loses value because of tariff changes?

Lizzy I found this not what you asked but something.

Can the president of the United States be impeached for insider trading?

Yes, if it is deemed by the Majority of the United States House of Representatives that a sitting president’s actions rise to the level of “high crimes and misdemeanors” he may be tried by the Senate.

It should be noted that a majority of votes in the House of Representatives to bring charges against a sitting president IS impeachment regardless of the subsequent conviction or acquittal of the president by the Senate.

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/03/02/politics/donald-trump-say-stuff/index.html

Donald Trump's 'just say stuff' strategy

Pres. Trump's complex relationship with guns
His ambiguity on what he favors in terms of gun control provisions to be included in congressional legislation is all part of a master plan to avoid the pitfalls past presidents have fallen into on the issue.
His reversals on immigration reform keep his opponents -- and his allies -- on their toes, providing him the high negotiating ground.

Those three statements are part and parcel of a long-running sentiment that gained credence in the immediate aftermath of Trump's stunning election victory: That he is playing three-dimensional chess, executing on a strategy so advanced that the average person (or political reporter) simply can't understand it.

But if you look at the last year-plus of Donald Trump in the White House, it's hard to conclude that he is, in fact, operating off of some sort of secret -- and hugely complex --blueprint for governing and politics.

In fact, the only strategy is really not a strategy at all: Trump simply says things. And no matter what he says on one day, he feels completely unbound by it the next day.

This is a difficult thing for the political world -- and I include reporters -- to grasp. Why? Because every modern president before Trump has had, broadly speaking, a theory of the case of what they wanted to accomplish. Their presidencies played out on the canvas of that blueprint. The various things they said and did (and didn't do) all created a sort of sensible narrative arc of their presidency. They could be judged by how well they adhered to the priorities and vision they laid out.

There is nothing like that in the Trump presidency. Rather than a set of dots (actions/statements/policies) between which you can draw a relatively smooth through-line, there are only dots for Trump. Like a Rorschach drawing, you can try to see patterns in those dots. But different people see different things. And some people see absolutely nothing at all.

The point is: There is no point. There is just Trump -- saying things and then reacting to the reaction to what he says.

What he says often has some level of consistency -- tougher, safer, bigger, better -- but that is less purposeful than the result of a man who almost always says exactly what is on his mind, no matter how people will react to it.

To call Trump a flip-flopper then is unfair and misses the point in the same way trying to force his various thoughts, tweets and policy statements into a cohesive whole does.

Because Trump lacked any real policy beliefs -- outside of a skepticism of trade agreements and a belief that the tax system should work for businesses -- before winning the presidency, he simply flits between totally contradictory positions on the regular now.

Cooper presses Loesch on Trump's gun comments
Cooper presses Loesch on Trump's gun comments 02:28
On immigration: One day he backs comprehensive reform while two days later he is opposed to anything short of what immigration hard-liners demand. On guns: One day he seems to favor a comprehensive bill with a series of reforms, the next, after a dinner with the President, a top NRA executive tweets that Trump opposes any gun control.
To flip-flop, you need to have staked out a position and stood by it. The whole point of flip-flops as being damaging in politics is because they represent a walking away from a deeply held belief for political expediency. If you don't have any deeply held political beliefs, walking away from them is way less meaningful.

Trying to make Trump fit into any sort of pre-established box of presidential behavior is misunderstanding him. There is no plan or strategy beyond what Trump says and does. And Trump is almost supernaturally mercurial, meaning that what he says and does on a Wednesday shouldn't be expected to tell us anything about what he will say or do on a Friday.

The Las Vegas Victims Fund said the maximum $275,000 also will be paid to 10 other people who were paralyzed or suffered permanent brain damage in the October 1 shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.
The full $31.5million will be distributed among the injured and families of the dead, the group said.
The nonprofit posted a chart projecting payments on a scale to a total of 532 people, including more than $10million divided among 147 people who were hospitalized.

The fund includes millions of dollars in corporate donations and tens of thousands of individual donations that ranged in size from $1 to $400,000.
'The love and support shown for the families and survivors of the 1 October tragedy was tremendous,' said Scott Nielson, chairman of the Committee, in a statement.
'We recognize, however, that money cannot replace a life lost or forever changed due to this tragic event,' Nielson continued. 'What the Committee worked hard to do was distribute the gifts given by tens of thousands of people in a way that would help those families and survivors most severely impacted by 1 October.'
'In no way can it replace someone's life,' said Al Etcheber, the brother-in-law of Stacee Etcheber, who died when a gunman fired from a high-rise casino hotel into a country music festival below.
'Still, it is a real nice way to help families who lost someone they loved.'
Stacee Etcheber was married to Al's brother, San Francisco Police Officer Vincent Etcheber. The 50-year-old mother of two children worked as a hairdresser in Novato, California.

Victims fund spokesman Howard Stutz said the nonprofit expects to pay 100 percent of the funds raised, with payouts beginning Monday.
Police say 851 people were hurt by gunfire or other injuries while fleeing.
The fund grew into a nonprofit corporation that reported receiving more than 90,000 donations, with nearly 40 percent coming from southern Nevada gambling, tourism and entertainment companies.
Students, faculty and staff at a high school in suburban Henderson raised more than $66,000 through T-shirt sales, and a Vegas Strong benefit concert that raised nearly $700,000.
Disbursements were determined by a committee of victim advocates, mental health and medical professionals, lawyers, donors and others. The committee held two town hall meetings to hear from victims and their families.
The committee reported reviewing more than 1,600 email and written comments, with advice from national experts, including victim compensation expert Kenneth Feinberg and the National Center for Victims of Crime.

President Donald Trump suggested that the United States ought to do away with term limits just as China recently did, it was reported on Saturday.
Trump spoke before a crowd of Republican donors in his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, according to CNN.
During his remarks, he praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, who recently enacted reforms that will allow him to rule as president indefinitely.
‘He's now president for life,’ Trump said of Xi. ‘President for life. And he's great.

‘And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll give that a shot some day.’
During the speech, Trump also criticized the ‘rigged system’ in Washington.

He also said he wished the Justice Department would launch an investigation against Hillary Clinton over the use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.
Trump has frequently used his Twitter feed to criticize his attorney general, Jeff Sessions.
The president went after Sessions – whom he went after mercilessly on Twitter earlier in his term – a day after Sessions said his agency's internal inspector general would probe allegations of illegal surveillance against Trump campaign officials.
'Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse,' Trump wrote, leaving out a question mark at the end of his inquiry.

'Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn't the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!'
Sessions, who has been on the receiving end of multiple presidential online shots throughout his turbulent tenure, defended his own 'integrity and honor' in the face of Trump's attack.
'We have initiated the appropriate process that will ensure complaints against this Department will be fully and fairly acted upon if necessary,' Sessions said in a statement.
Then the former Alabama senator added: ‘As long as I am the attorney general, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor, and this Department will continue to do its work in a fair and impartial manner according to the law and the Constitution.'
Trump on Saturday also blasted two other frequent targets of criticism – Clinton and former President George W. Bush.

Trump on Saturday also blasted two other frequent targets of criticism – Hillary Clinton (right) and former President George W. Bush (left)
'Is Hillary a happy person? Do you think she's happy?' he said.
'When she goes home at night, does she say, “What a great life?” I don't think so. You never know. I hope she's happy.’
Trump also lambasted Bush for his decision to invade Iraq in 2003 after claiming that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.
'Here we are, like the dummies of the world, because we had bad politicians running our country for a long time,' he said.
Trump said the Iraq invasion was ‘the single worst decision ever made’ because it was tantamount to ‘throwing a big fat brick into a hornet’s nest.’
'That was Bush. Another real genius. That was Bush,' Trump said sarcastically.
'That turned out to be wonderful intelligence. Great intelligence agency there.'
Trump has used the Iraq War and the errors made by US intelligence agencies to discredit those who claim that Russia meddled in the 2016 elections.
The American intelligence community believes that President Vladimir Putin directed Russian cyber operatives to hack into the election to help Trump defeat Clinton.
Trump has largely resisted those claims. Russia has denied the hacking allegations.

Donald Trump has ramped up the war of words with Europe over trade by threatening to impose punitive taxes on cars from the EU.
The US president vowed to retaliate against the EU accusing the bloc of unfairly hiking tariffs on Harley-Davidson motorbikes, bourbon and American blue jeans.
The intervention will raise fresh fears about a major international spat over trade, as Mr Trump follows through on his pledge to stop America being exploited by other countries.
In a series of tweets yesterday, Mr Trump upped the ante by warning that the EU was taking the US 'for fools'.

'If the EU wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on US companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the US,' he said.
'They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!' he continued.
Last year, the US ran a $151billion trade deficit with the EU, accounting for about one-fifth of America's $796billion global trade deficit.

'The United States has an $800 Billion Dollar Yearly Trade Deficit because of our "very stupid" trade deals and policies,' Mr Trump said.
'Our jobs and wealth are being given to other countries that have taken advantage of us for years. They laugh at what fools our leaders have been. No more!'
On Friday, angered by Trump's plan for tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, the EU announced plans to further penalize certain American exports to the bloc.
'We will put tariffs on Harley-Davidson, on bourbon and on blue jeans - Levis,' European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker told German television. 'We are here and they will get to know us.'
A spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the de facto economic leader of the EU, said US steel tariffs would hurt international commerce.
'The German government will look very closely at this decision and then assess the impact on the German and European economies,' said spokesman Steffen Seibert.
Trump said on Thursday the United States would apply duties of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on aluminium to protect domestic producers.

Data from European steel association Eurofer shows the United States was the destination of about 15 percent of Europe's steel exports in 2017.
Canada also has said it will retaliate for any US tariffs on steel and aluminum.
Australia's trade minister has spoken with his US counterpart to seek an exemption to Trump administration tariffs on steel and aluminium exports.
'Unfortunately, at this stage, it is not clear to me or to Australia whether or not we will be captured by the president's announcement,' Steve Ciobo told Sky News on Sunday, after speaking with US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross on Saturday.
Trump officially has until April 11 to announce his final decision on a steel tariff.
An analyst at Jefferies said they expected the final policy to be more nuanced than a blanket tariff, due to a mounting pushback from domestic steel consumers and foreign steel suppliers.

The chilling school shooting threats made across the country since the Parkland massacre: Dozens of kids have been arrested - including a 10-year-old - all vowing to kill teachers and classmates

 • Since February 14, there have been at least 38 different threats across the US

 • Most were made by students posting on social media who were underage

 • In one case, a student took a gun to school but killed himself instead of others

 • He had planned to commit mass murder but changed his mind last minute

 • Not all are serious - some kids said they were trying to be funny or stall classes

 • The frightening trend is being met with harsh, swift action from police

 • Now, dozens of teens across the country are facing felony charges and jail time

Since gunman Nikolas Cruz slaughtered 17 people in a Valentine's Day massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School last month, dozens of sickening threats of similar shootings have been made across the country.
They include threats from students and adults and vary in their seriousness.
In one case, the teenager killed himself in the school bathroom instead of acting out a plan to commit mass murder.
He was not the only one who was able to sneak weapons on to campus - others have been arrested after police received tips from other students that they had handguns in their backpacks.

There have been at least 38 different threats across 20 different states since February 14, when 17 died in a shooting in Parkland, Florida.
Others said they were merely trying to be 'funny' while one girl even used it as a ruse to shut school for the day so that she could have more time to study for a test.

Thankfully none of the plots have been executed.
Many were foiled because the intended shooters publicized their plans on social media and shared photographs of themselves with guns.
They have however sparked panic in many cases and, in some, caused school closures. Now, dozens of youngsters across the country are facing felony charges. Most are not named because they are minors.
DailyMail.com found reports of at least 38 different incidents in 20 different states since February 14.

A student in Miami Dade posted this imaget on Snapchat last month. He was questioned over it but has not been named or charged
Floridians who are still traumatized from the shooting in Parkland have also seen a number of other threats since.
Among the most sickening involve images posted on social media by a 15-year-old girl who threatened Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School in Cocoa.
She re-posted another threat made in a different state which showed a gunman holding a rifle and wearing a mask. It was captioned 'Florida round 2 tomorrow'.  The girl in Florida wrote: 'I'm coming Space Coast watch out.'
Another boy shared a photograph in Miami Dade where he appeared holding a rifle. It was captioned: 'Here's a fat F*** YOU' to everyone.'
The teen was questioned by police but was not immediately charged.
A more serious scenario unfolded at Palm Beach Lakes High School where a student brought two guns to school on February 15.  He ran away when police arrived to question him, dumping the weapons on the spot. Officers had received an anonymous tip about him. He was arrested.
The youngest menace in Florida was an 11-year-old child who wrote a threatening note and slipped it under the school principal's door.
It read: 'I will bring a GUN to school to kill all of you ugly a** kids and teachers. I will bring the GUN February 16, 2018. Be prepared, b****!'
The child was arrested and told police she was put up to it by another girl who said she would be beaten up if she didn't.

Mainland High School came under threat from a 20-year-old student who said he wanted to be a 'serial killer one day and kill everyone' in the school.
He recorded the threat in a video, according to police in Daytona. He is believed to be mentally ill.
The Gilchrist County School District closed on Friday, February 16, after receiving a threatening email. No other details were given about that threat.
On February 18, an 18-year-old was arrested Palmetto Ridge High School after being found with a knife in his backpack. Police had been alerted to him after receiving reports that he had a gas mask and was planning an attack.
In his bag, they found a note which said 'shoot up school' and had a list of student names.
A 13-year-old girl was also arrested for threatening Central Charter School with an Instagram post where she said its students would be killed 'this week'.  She wrote the post on February 19.

Diego Horta, 17, was arrested after being found on Tuesday in a parking lot near a school in Rowlett, Texas, with a rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition
The second highest number of threats have been in Texas where six different plots have been reported.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested in Arlington on February 15, a day after the shooting in Parkland, for threatening Nichols Junior High School.
He said he wanted to shoot the school with a Nerf gun.
In Plano Texas, a 16-year-old was arrested for bringing a handgun to Plano West Senior High School. The school resource officer was tipped off that he had brought it into school.
Another threat was made on February 26 in Pasadena where a youngster threatened Sam Rayburn High School on Snapchat. That threat caused panic among parents who lined up at the school after hearing about it to try to collect their children. The teenager behind it was arrested.
Diego Horta, 17, was arrested near Rowlett High School on  Tuesday with a rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition in his car.

He also had a Halloween mask with him but would not say whether or not he intended to carry out mass murder when approached by police.
He was sitting in his car in the dark when he was arrested. Horta is not a student there; he is homeschooled.
A teenage girl was behind another threat in Weatherford, Texas, on February 15.  She allegedly posted on social media that she planned to cause harm at Weatherford High School.
Police did not find a weapon on her but she was charged with making a terroristic threat.

In Flower Mound, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after bringing a handgun to Marcus High School on February 16. The gun was unloaded but he also had ammunition with him.
A sixth threat at Stevenson Middle School in Houston caused a lockdown on February 19. It began with a Snapchat post which was shared by a student at another school. Police were called and they put Stevenson Middle School in lockdown.
The student who was behind it was not there - they were at home sick with their mother and had no weapons. It is not clear if they were charged.

Ohio has endured a shooting since the Parkland massacre.
On February 20, Keith Simons shot himself in the bathrooms at Jackson Memorial Middle School.
He had been planning an attack on the whole school but took his life first. The teenager had left a 13-page manifesto behind detailing what he had planned.
'When they interview my parents and ask how they didn’t see the signs, they should know it’s not them, it’s me and it’s because of how I see the world.
'I’d hurt and destroy something bigger but my school’s an easy target,' he wrote.

Deandre Fleming, 18, was arrested after writing on Instagram that he wanted to 'kill teachers and anyone who gets in my way way'
Police do not know what caused him to change his mind and take his own life instead of inflicting mass murder.
'We seriously don’t know what made him change his mind [about killing others]. But we thank God every day, whatever changed his mind, changed his mind,' said Police Chief Mark Brink.
Another threat was reported in Columbus.
Eighteen-year-old Deandre Fleming was charged after writing that he wanted to 'kill teachers and anyone who gets in his way,' on Instagram.
He was charged with second degree felony inducing panic.

California
Santa Rosa High School in California was the target of another purported threat which was posted on social media.
In a widely-circulated image, a girl appeared next to an assault rifle and sitting in front of a US flag.
She was wearing fishnet stockings, a skirt and a t-shirt.
It coincided with a February 28 scribble written in one of the school's bathrooms which read: 'March 1, the school is gonna be shot up'.
No one has been arrested but police said they were investigating all of the material. They did not believe a threat was credible.

Two teenagers in Illinois were arrested for plotting an attack on Mundelein High School.
One of them was 18-year-old Juan Bello and the other was a minor who has not been named.
The alarm was raised after one of the two boys posted a photograph on social media which featured a handgun.
They wrote: 'Mundelein ain't ready for this,' alongside it.
The handgun was fake.
New Jersey - Two threats made
In New Jersey, a 10-year-old was arrested last month after sending out a string of emails threatening to shoot students at a school in Franklin Township.
The boy was a student of Franklin Township School District and the emails caused several schools in the area to close.  He was charged with third degree terroristic threats and third-degree causing false public alarm.
Also in New Jersey, Nutley Public Schools closed as a result of a video posted on Instagram which they believed was a threat.
No further information about it has been released.

He posted it online and told police it was intended retaliation against some of the school's students who he said assaulted him.
Minnesota
In Minnesota, an autistic student was arrested for threatening  to shoot up Orono High School.
His post on social media caused a lockdown which lasted six hours but people in the local community do not want him to face charges.
They say he would never have carried out the killings which he described because he is incapable.
Another student's mother set up a GoFundMe campaign with the boy's family's permission that by Sunday was near its $40,000 goal to help cover the family's legal and treatment expenses.
Claire Wnuk Berrett wrote on the fundraising page that some kids on the autism spectrum don't have the language or social skills to adequately express their needs.

In Minnesota, the community is raising money to pay the legal fees of an autistic teenager who was arrested for posting a threat on Facebook. The community says Jake Johnson, who was named by family in the fundraising page, would never have been able to carry out the mass murder he allegedly threatened because he is mentally disabled and that he should not be held responsible for it
Arkansas
Police in Fayetteville, Arkansas, received a report of a threat on February 16 from a student who said they wanted to 'shoot up the high school like they did in Florida.'
Authorities said the student did not mean to carry out the threat but they were charged with making it.

Abigail Hernandez, 21, wrote: 'I’m coming tomorrow morning and I’m going to shoot all of ya b******' on the Facebook page for East High School on February 15.
She left the comment under a the fake name of Martin Doll.
Hernandez is now facing deportation to Mexico.
Kentucky - Three threats made
Two people were arrested for threatening Jessamine County Schools in Nicholasville, Kentucky, last month. They were not named and their ages are not known but both were charged with terroristic threatening.
A minor was charged with the same crime elsewhere in the state days later in Bullitt County.
A third threat was reported at Chapin High School where police sent extra police in the days afterwards. No one was immediately charged.

This image went viral after appearing on February 15, the day after the shooting in Florida. It was taken by a teen in Spartanburg, South Carolina, who was later arrested
South Carolina
A Snapchat threat posted by a youth in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is the most recognizable of them all.
It showed the boy standing with a large assault rifle, similar to the AR-15 used by Cruz, and wearing a mask.
Alongside the image, he wrote: 'round 2 of Florida tomorrow.'
It was shared thousands of times on social media and sparked widespread panic as well as spawning some of the other threats listed in this article.
Police arrested the ninth grader who was behind it.
Virginia
A fourteen-year-old Lake Taylor Middle School student was arrested in Virginia after threatening to hurt classmates if they went to school.
He made the threat on social media, according to local police. The boy was charged with a Class 6 felony for making threats of death or bodily injury to a person or persons on school property.

Emily Nicole Wilson, 18, made threats to her school in Alabama because she wanted more time to study on a test and she thought it would 'buy her time'
Alabama
Emily Nicole Wilson, 18, was arrested after making online threats against a school which officials have not yet named in Cullman County.
She appeared in a photograph with a gun in a message which was sent through the Text Now app.
The messages also included the school's name and information about when the attack was planned.
Emily later told police she wanted to 'buy time' to have longer to study for a test and that she never planned on acting out.
Missouri
A 14-year-old girl in Raytown, Missouri, after sending out threats on social media.
She wrote: 'Coming to all Raytown schools Monday Feb 26 thanks for the bullying,' and included several gun emojis next to it.
'Snitch on me and I will blow the whole damn building up,' was another of her posts.
She followed them up with photographs of a handgun and ammunition.  The photo she posted was not of any weapons she owned and she had copied it from another state.

North Carolina
Gates County Public Schools said it was investigating threats against its various schools in February after the Parkland massacre.
Its staff said that massacre made them more vigilant.
Oklahoma
Western Heights Public Schools in Oklahoma City was put in lockdown the day after the Parkland massacre after receiving a threat from someone they said was not at the school.
It did not amount to anything and the school was reopened the next day.

The large number of threats is worrying but not necessarily an increase on years gone by.
Experts say it is purely that they are now being made public because police are not taking any chances and are arresting children who would ordinarily be disciplined more privately by their teachers and parents.
'Kids make bad decisions and I think that in decades past those decisions would have been addressed behind closed doors with the principal and parents.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, slaughtered 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14
'Now they're being addressed behind closed doors in the police station and the courtroom,' said Ken Trump, president of National School Safety and Security Services, a Cleveland-based consulting company.
Volusia County Schools, which Stoneman Marjory is a part of, said they had seen an increase in the number of threats.
'Unfortunately that word didn't get to the students and we started seeing more students making threats in the classroom, and that was frightening to their classmates.
'Most of the time these students didn't have access to weapons, but they were still making threats to shoot up their schools.'
The Educator's School Safety Network, which tracks reports of school threats and violent incidents across the country, has documented a spike since Parkland. The Ohio group counted 797 as of Sunday. Most (743) were for threats of various kinds, including gun and bomb threats. The threats were made mostly via social media (331) and verbally (119).
That amounts to about a sevenfold increase in the usual rate, director of programs Amy Klinger said.
'The mentality has shifted in a very short period of time from kids being kids to this is very serious stuff,' she said. She expects consequences of post-Parkland threats to be harsher than before.
'They almost have to be. Do we want to do this for the rest of the school year? Do we want to have this constant chaos and fear, and people being upset? How much learning is going on?'

This is so frightening! What leads these young kids to say so? Do some of them think it's funny? A call for help? And for those who actually bring a gun to school, is that a way to try to commit suicide by being shot by police and guards? If this doesn't make this *** president act in an appropriate way, what does it?

The father of one of the victims of the Parkland school shooting has said efforts to change U.S. gun laws is 'not achievable'.
Andrew Pollack's daughter Meadow, 18, was 'stalked and shot nine times' by Nikolas Cruz, 19, a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine's Day.
The horrific shooting, which saw Cruz murder 17 people, has sparked a debate on U.S. gun laws and nationwide protests against the lenient regulations around semi-automatic weapons and background checks.

Caveat: Mr Pollack, pictured with his daughter Meadow, said he does not think changing gun laws is 'achievable'
However, Pollack warned against focusing only on gun laws, and not overall school safety in an interview this weekend.

'Gun laws right now are not achievable. My daughter was murdered by a gun. She should have been safe in the school, he told CBS News' Face the Nation on Sunday.

'I'm not saying don't go after gun laws. I'm not a gun expert. I'm saying that's the problem.'
He added that school shootings 'always getting twisted into gun laws and gun control. If we all focus together, one nation, no political affiliation, we could work together and make the schools safe, and then go fight it out.'

Killer: Nikolas Cruz killed 14 students and three members of staff on Valentine's Day
His comments came after the Florida state senate briefly approved a two-year freeze on the sale of AR-15 rifles on Saturday, before overturning the measure 15 minutes after the initial vote.
The vote to pass the bill came on an unrecorded voice vote, in which lawmakers shouted 'yea' or 'nay'.
The measure then failed 21-17 on a recorded vote minutes later.
The no votes were all cast by Republicans, while two Republicans joined 15 Democrats on the yea votes.
Mr Pollack was one of the attendees of Donald Trump's listening session at the White House in the wake of the shooting, where he had some stern words for the President.
'I'm very angry that this happened, because it keeps happening,' the bereaved father said, declaring that 9/11 'happened once, and they fixed everything.

'It stops here with this administration and me. I'm not going to sleep until it's fixed. And Mr. President, we're going to fix it. Because I'm going to fix it. I'm not going to rest.'
'Fix it! It should have been one school shooting and we should have fixed it! And I'm pissed!
'Because my daughter I'm not going to see again. She's not here. She's not here. She's at, in North Lauderdale, in King David Cemetery. That's where I go to see my kid now.'

Trump Organization orders up dozens of golf tee markers with presidential seal – though federal law threatens jail time for using or reproducing it

 • A manufacturer got an order for dozens of 12-inch tee markers with the seal

 •  The seal is placed on lecterns wherever the president speaks

 •  In the past, the White House has complained when private businesses used it

 • Knowingly displaying or making the seal can lead to fines or being 'imprisoned not more than six months,' according to the U.S. code

 • Law prohibits using seal for 'a false impression of sponsorship or approval'

 • Trump has been criticized for maintaining his golf and real estate empire while in office

The Trump Organization placed orders for dozens of metal golf tee markers with the presidential seal – although federal law prohibits misuse of the official seal to provide a 'a false impression of sponsorship or approval.'
The order was revealed by ProPublica, which obtained an image of dozens of images lined up on a table for distribution.
The manufacturer, Eagle Sign and Design, confirmed the order for the 12-inch tee markers – meant to show duffers from where to launch their drives when playing Trump-branded golf courses around the nation.
The firm has offices in Indiana and Kentucky.

'We made the design, and the client confirmed the design,” owner Joseph E. Bates told the publication.

The firm also featured the photo in a 'Trump International Golf Course' section on its Facebook page, but it wasn't viewable on Monday afternoon.
Among four Trump International Golf Courses in the U.S. is one in West Palm Beach that the president often plays. Courses also have that name in Ireland, Scotland, and Dubai.
It is not unusual for commercial enterprises to attempt to use official seals of the U.S. – but in the past the White House has complained to try to stop it from happening.
The U.S. Code specifically outlaws using ''likenesses of the great seal of the United States, the seals of the President and Vice President,' and the seals of the House and Senate. Violations can carry jail time of no more than six months.

An Oregon man filed suits Monday claiming Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmart discriminated against the 20-year-old when they refused to sell him a rifle.
Dick's and Walmart restricted gun sales to adults 21 and older in the wake of the Florida high school massacre which has led to Tyler Watson launching a lawsuit against the two companies.
Watson's lawsuits filed against the retailers in two separate counties claim he faced age discrimination from Dick's and Walmart.
The lawsuit is believed to be the first filed over the new gun policies enacted on February 28.

A 20-year-old man in southern Oregon has filed a lawsuit against Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmart after he says they refused to sell him a rifle

Oregon law allows residents to buy shotguns or rifles starting at age 18 but the stores brought in new rules after the Florida Valentine's Day massacre.
The 19-year-old bought the AR-15 used in the attack legally.
The lawsuit claims a store owned by Dick's Sporting Goods in Medford, Oregon, refused to sell Watson .22-caliber Ruger rifle on February 24.
The suit says Grants Pass Walmart in Oregon refused to sell him a gun on March 3.
He left after being told the store would not sell him any firearm, including rifles, shotguns or ammunition for the weapons, unless he was 21, the lawsuit alleges.
The refusal came four days before the retail chain publicly announced its new sales policy for firearms.

Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove said Tuesday that the company, one of the nation's largest gun-sellers, reviewed its policy on firearm sales in light of recent events
It's not clear if Watson knew at that point of the coming restrictions.
'He was really just trying to buy a rifle,' said his attorney Max Whittington.
Watson is asking judges to force Dick's and Walmart 'to stop unlawfully discriminating against 18, 19, and 20 year-old customers at all Oregon locations.' Additionally, he is asking for unspecified punitive damages.
Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove said the retailer plans to defend the new policy.
'We stand behind our decision and plan to defend it,' he said. 'While we haven't seen the complaint, we will respond as appropriate with the court.'
A representative from Dick's hasn't responded to a request for comment.

In court documents filed in Los Angeles and publicly shared by her lawyer Michael Avenatti on Twitter, Daniels, who was born Stephanie Clifford, states the pair had multiple sexual encounters, including at a July 2006 golf tournament in Lake Tahoe and “well into the year 2007.”
Clifford accused Trump of not signing the NDA thus “rendering it legally null and void and of no consequence.”
The suit also claimed she and Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, signed the agreement on behalf of his client 11 days before the presidential election and around the time of the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape in October 2016.
“As a result of Ms. Clifford’s efforts aimed at publicly disclosing her story and her communications with various media outlets, Ms. Clifford’s plans came to the attention of Mr. Trump and his campaign, including Mr. Michael Cohen,” the lawsuit alleged.

“Mr. Trump, with the assistance of his attorney Mr. Cohen, aggressively sought to silence Ms. Clifford as part of an effort to avoid her telling the truth, thus helping to ensure he won the Presidential Election,” the documents claimed. “Mr. Cohen subsequently prepared a draft non-disclosure agreement and presented it to Ms. Clifford and her attorney (the ‘Hush Agreement’).”
Clifford stated Trump used the pseudonym “David Dennison” or “DD” in the agreement, according to the lawsuit documents.

She also accused Cohen and Trump of creating a limited liability company “to hide the true source of funds to be used to pay Ms. Clifford, thus further insulating Mr. Trump from later discovery and scrutiny.”
Last month, Cohen admitted to making a “private transaction” of $130,000 out of his own pocket to Clifford in 2016.

“Mr. Cohen proceeded to cause $130,000.00 to be wired to the trust account of Ms. Clifford’s attorney. He did so even though there was no legal agreement and thus no written nondisclosure agreement whereby Ms. Clifford was restricted from disclosing the truth about Mr. Trump,” alleged the lawsuit, which also claimed that Cohen continued his attempts to silence Clifford as recently as Feb. 27.
The White House and Cohen have denied the allegation of an affair.
The White House did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

NRA mouthpiece Dana Loesch unleashed a bizarre ad targeting Hollywood, the media, athletes, and politicians in a short video clip posted to the gun lobbying group's Twitter account.
The Twitter video, posted Sunday, is accompanied by a caption taken from her strange monologue in which she has an hour glass sitting in front of her, on a black table, with a black background, while she is also sporting black.
The caption reads: 'To every lying member of the media, to every Hollywood phony, to the role model athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents…Your Time is running out. The clock starts now.'

Dana Loesch unleashed her bizarre ad targeting everyone from politicians to athletes while speaking from a black room with an hourglass she flips at the end of the one-minute video
The antagonistic ad was hashtagged with '#Oscars90,' just before Sunday night's Academy Awards ceremony.

In the background is a guitar playing ominously, and it sounds like something out of a Wild West movie.
'We've had enough of the lies,' Loesch says in the clip. 'The sanctimony. The arrogance. The hatred, the pettiness, the fake news. We are done with your agenda to undermine voters' will and individual liberty in America.'
Loesch then addresses every 'lying' member of the media, 'Hollywood phony', and 'role model athlete who uses their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents.'
She ranted: 'To the politicians who would rather watch America burn than lose one ounce of their own personal power, to the late night hosts that think their opinion are the only opinions that matter.

'To the Joy-Ann Reids, the Morning Joes, the Mikas. To those who stain honest reporting with partisanship.
'To those who bring bias and propaganda to CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times… your time is running out. The clock starts now.'
She then dramatically flips over the hourglass to illustrate the 'clock' starting.
The ad is for Loesch's new show on NRATV which begins in March.
If Loesch wanted to incite those she was targeting in the ad- than mission accomplished.

To those who stain honest reporting with partisanship: Loesch called out Mika Brzezinksi and Joe Scarborough in her commercial

Joy-Ann Reid was also specifically named by Loesch in the strange commercial for her looming NRA TV show
Alec Baldwin struck out on Twitter saying that Loesch 'doesn't care how many dead bodies she has to stop over' to push her agenda.
Montel Williams cited his time in the US military when he struck out at Loesch and her strange NRA ad.
'Let's get one thing clear: I actually bore arms in uniform,' Williams wrote on Twitter. 'Dana poses in cocktail dresses with guns. I'm not interested in a lecture on guns from a damn spokesmodel.'
He then added, 'Oh — and, Dana — girlfriend stop with the stupid. And don't make shadowy threats you can't back up. You're a spokesmodel not a hit man.'
Actor Michael Ian Black also hit out at the ad, sharing it on Twitter with the caption 'Terroristic threats. The NRA is a terrorist organization.'
