What does George smell like?
Barbara Garabedian wrote:Everyone, lets face it, george is happier now that he is single. One thing I am not sure why he moves these women in his house, that is a commited relationship and sort of being married without the official paper. He has both of 2 worlds. Single without the ring and committed also with someone. Why do these women think they can change George, he is what he is and you cannot change him. We all wish we could, but unitil he finds the right one, if ever, he will decide on marriage or not. I respect him for telling them I do not want to get married or have kids. That is straight forward and if you just go with it, your doing fine. But most of us could not. I know I could not, I would like a ring on my finger and know he is my man. I worked with him in several movies, and he is very nice, and funny and a kind man. I hope someday he makes the right choice whom he gets, but until then remain single and just continue your life as an actor and helping people in other countries who are less fortunate. Barbara Garabedian
Hi Barbara, welcome!
You said that you worked with George several times...please, answer me: how does he smells?
I mean, frangrance, perfume...kind of men's perfume like vert, citric, cologne water...or maybe just a man smell like a little sweat with leather... you know!
i always had this doubt bc i really care how a man smells!
Thank you

What does George smell like?
I re-read my post to Barbara and it was very weird... !
but I'm not, please, i'm not make fun with her or being agressive with her but the my english is terrible ( I mean, my totally lack of english is terrible lol) i just ask to her ( as she said that she knew him and I believe on it) how he smells...
You know, its a curiosity, if someday I 'll stay close to him I'll sniff the air until I had all his smell with me. At least I would keep his smell in my memory forever...that's it!
I wanted to explain bc my comment was very strange when I re read.
It's only my curiosity! No offense!

Someone on one of the boards said he smelt great and it was some sort of really nice cologne or aftershave. Aqua...something or I could be making the name up! LOL Whoever it was had met him and knew the name of the aftershave not sure where they were from could have been from the By George or Clooneyfiles days! It was ages ago that I read it.

Re: What does George smell like?
It was on Clooneyfiles, Dex. There were a number of different aftershaves he was associated with which I think comes from the perfume manufacturers giving him a bottle of the stuff and then claiming that he wears it.
From the mists of my memory I also remember reading that George says he doesn't wear anything.

Fluffy,I also read that about Ivory soap, also that he kept a basket filled with a variety of shampoos, soaps etc. in his steam shower for his guest, and he would just grab whatever was there. Sounded like such a guy thing to do.

Anyway, I read that Russell Brand (Katy Perry's husband) liked to wear George's Batman costume to capture George's "aroma." OK, now we've hit the bottom. LOL

Re: What does George smell like?
Hello all--
He smelled impossibly good. Groomed, crisp... and--the headiest, most seductive scent of all, dammit-- He smelled absolutely unattainable.
@marina--
hello! I know you have followed boards for a long time, like I. Don't worry about your english! You are doing great!
As for wondering how he smells: of course! Such an important part of attractiveness! Oh, to wear one's lover's shirt and walk about in scent
all day...
Scent can drive or kill desire, no?
And Clooney must have a terrible approach/avoidance to all of this, because he must constantly have to think about how he stirs a crowd!
Something genius in this, because how scent is attractive is so individual, and yet he appeals to so many.
I wish I could say, "go to the counter of your fine store and open a bottle to smell exactly his scent." Not possible. Even if I could say definitively it was "X" brand of cologne, scents change on the person wearing them... When I was young, I was absolutely undone at the knees by a the aroma of a fellow who said he wore no scent but only washed with Safeguard soap! I bought the soap and used only it for weeks, trying to recreate the scent, but it was not the same. His chemistry changed it somehow. I get stomach flutters thinking about it even now!
After receiving funny looks at the mention of "smell", we who were close to him (my daughters and I at an event a couple years ago) no longer say, "I know what George Clooney smells like"... We say, instead,"we can describe his scent."
The first phrase a bit TOO familiar.. hee hee!
Also suggests an intimacy, which was decidedly NOT present and is a little gauche -- considering my daughter, part of whose face is pictured next to him in my avatar, was not yet college age when the picture was taken. For the photo, his arm was around her, places perfectly appropriately --as I would expect of a gentleman--her head against his shoulder.
So, I am a creative person, if you'd prefer to avoid flowery script, skip the rest. The following, though true, tips the load on the b.s. scale a bit.
He did NOT smell like cologne per se, but clean... nothing heavy.
Grooming products were there, yes, so some touch of richness--but nearly indistinct. NO flowers. Overall, one noticed first the scent of a fine wool suit--recently cleaned, barest lanolin-- not raw silk-- and a freshly laundered, pressed shirt with a hint of starch. Took me back to when my mother would stand at the ironing board in the streaming sunshine while we played on the floor nearby and press my father's cotton work shirts, gathered still slightly damp from the clothesline. She would sprinkle each shirt from a special top on coke bottle full of water and starch mix. Each pass of the sizzling iron raised clouds of fragrant steam filled with sunshine, fresh air, lemon and astringent tang. With each newly stiff garment, crisp seams exuded the scent of importance and vitality--these shirts were significant to our well-being. They smelled of manliness -- his presence provided tart safety; the shining hard lines were without the softness of his weekend workshop wear, smelling as they did of garage and grease and leather and barns.
It all lives in memory still easily recalled with the smell of sharply pressed shirts.
Along with the garment scent, one breathed in good soap with light lavender and top notes of fresh citrus, not peel, no root, no bitterness and no musk... but something of a cello note that pulsed away underneath, best found with a nose pressed to the base of a throat, I say.
His was a faraway scent which drew a line as distinct as a sleeve crease, saying, "this close and no further".
Calling it "noli me tangere", I cannot recreate it especially when I try. It comes to me in sleep sometimes and I wake up wistful, tantalized.
(Very effective marketing, clever boy!)
His scent was definitive. He was shiny and clean, a bit beyond businesslike. Friendly, but somewhat hard, as if to damp down the fact that everything else about him is asking to take you home... or the one next to you.. or everyone... inescapably... whether he wants to or not... and he really does not!

Re: What does George smell like?
Interesting commentary. I personally don't remember him smelling like anything distinctive. I do remember he didn't stink and he didn't have a "man smell" which to me is a combo of a man's natural scent and whatever stuff he uses to wash his shirts/clothes.
Fascinating - now I can picture fans at his next series of premieres waiting for him to walk up to them to sign an autograph and the women in the crowd all SNIFFING! Now that would be a hysterical sight!
Thanks Marina for an intriguing question.

I never was that close to him, but I worked with him in several films. He is very kind, nice and love the women. I do not know how he smells, but when your on a set, and it is dirty and dusty or whatever the condition is, you just want to get through your lines and do your acting. I am sure he is a neat and clean person. bg

George is said to use ' Green Irish Tweed by Creed' an English cologne, very expensive. I believe Mariella Frostrup(sp?) or maybe Lisa Snowdon bought it for him once years ago and he has used it ever since.

Thanks for the information, Emeraldcity-- lovely to see you here!
Doubt "Green Irish Tweed" is something to be found on the shelf of the local discount chain or I would totally go have a sniff and see how it compares!
Many thanks for all the "thank you"s too! Everyone has been so kind about not calling me out on the wordy whatevs...
Have to point out, I wouldn't have said anything about scent had there not been direct questions about it on several boards long before I went to the event. As I said to Marina, I get where the curiosity is coming from, but it is not my usual thing to "whuff up" on someone, especially someone famous! Horses, yes. People, not so much.
What we do for a group... (hah! My Freudian slip was almost showing there! Had to go back and change the last word from "grope"!)
Peer pressure is an ugly, ugly thing!

Re: What does George smell like?
Here's this very timely article [just want to mention I find it very dodgy when the manufacturer claims celebs use their product]:
And then there's this;
And this:
And this:
Take your pick!
.From Business Insider
Introducing Creed: The 250-Year-Old Luxury Fragrance You've Never Heard Of
Kim Bhasin|Jun. 30, 2011, 3:38 PM|190|3
A bottle of the iconic Chanel No. 5 fragrance costs $98.
A bottle of Creed? $300.
Positioned as an ultra-luxury brand, Creed's philosophy is to be as exclusive as possible. Don't advertise, make the product hard to find, and price it obscenely high, and people will crave it.
And they do -- there's already a waiting list for Creed's new Royal-Oud fragrance which won't be released until next month, according to AdWeek.
The brand has been popular amongst the rich and famous for centuries; in 1781 England's King George III commissioned its Royal English Leather scent, which is still in production. Other well-known Creed wearers include Michelle Obama, Audrey Hepburn, George Clooney and Saudi Arabia's King Faisal
And then there's this;
From allexperts
a friend give me a small info. when she was at the Rosemary Clooney Music festival a friend told her George was wearing Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani.
And this:
From basenotesCarthusier Mediterraneo (enjoyed by George Clooney, apparently!),
And this:
From the Express
“I hear that George Clooney wears Musc Ravageur by Frédéric Malle,” she says.
“Now that is so animalistic, it’s practically sex in a bottle. For George to be wearing it is over-egging the pudding.”
Take your pick!

Re: What does George smell like?
Noone has ever heard of Creed because they don't advertise in glossy magazines, they don't sell to big department stores or perfume outlets, its all word of mouth.
They use only the very best and rarest ingredients and as there is a limited supply each year they sell out of each batch very quickly and have a lot of pre orders.
Cary Grant wore it all the time too, Barbara 'poor little rich girl' Hutton used to buy dozens of bottles to give to friends at Christmas and she started Cary on it.
If you do want to buy some for your special guy get it direct from the manufacturer or one of their approved agents as fakes are frequently passed off as the real thing.

Acqua Di Gio that is what I read and it was someone who met him at the Rosemary Clooney festival years ago who said it. He may off changed it over the years but then he likes his routine so maybe not. My brother has worn brut 33 which I despise all his life! Now there is one I wish they would stop making. I remember nearly choking on it after going into the bathroom after him when I was a kid!

Just thought I'd mention that I found Green Irish Tweed in those little vial samples at Amazon and EBay if anyone wants to see what G might smell like.
I don't like floral type perfumes, I prefer a citrus base so I was excited too see that Creed makes one for women that has citrus notes, called Virgin Island Water. So I'm thinking I'll order a sample of it for me and a sample of the Green Irish Tweed for hubby.

Don't forget that George has also been quoted as saying he doesn't wear anything.
Whenever you read in a magazine that so-and-so uses xyz perfume, skin cream, or makeup, or whatever it's becuase the company that makes the stuff has sent some to the celeb in the hopes that they'll use it. No guarantee that they actually are.

Yes, I love the just-showered scent on a man. Well, some flattering not-too-overpowering after-shave lotion would be a plus also.
