It's possible Beyoncé conceived her twins without IVF, and it’s possible Amal Clooney did too.
So why does everyone assume they used In Vitro Fertilization? Well, one factor is age. Two, is the likelihood of multiple babies. Thirdly, most celebrities have the money to spend on multiple cycles if need be.
Married to Medicine’s Dr. Simone Whitmore says many people do assume celebrities are doing IVF, whether they are public about it or not.
“I think the public’s perception is that celebrities get assistance with fertility, that a lot of things don’t occur to them naturally, and I’m not sure that is tied into the mentality attached with plastic surgery,” she says. “I think the public knows that fertility treatments cost a lot of money and they know someone like Beyoncé would have a lot of money to spend on fertility treatments. So I think that where some of that assumption plays a role.”
Dr. Simone says we are also seeing a time where more and more celebrities are having babies and carrying babies over 40, like Janet Jackson did at 49.
“Even I assumed that there was some fertility assistance involved [with Janet],” she says. “I’m not making that assumption with Beyoncé, but I certainty did with Janet.”
Even though having twins naturally is more common with increasing age, and more common among African American women, Dr. Simone says that it is also likely to happen with IVF because either two embryos are placed back into the woman or one embryo splits.
One New York based woman who tweets under the handle Infertilityisfunny, wants celebs to be open like Chrissy Teigen when it comes to IVF.
“It's totally possible Beyoncé conceived her twins without IVF, but man, it sure would be great for the cause to have Queen B as spokeswoman!” she tweeted after Bey announced she was pregnant with twins.Along with Chrissy, Elizabeth Banks, Molly Sims, and Nicole Kidman have all spoken about all their infertility struggles. Halle Berry gave birth at 47, Kelly Preston at 48, Susan Sarandon at 46, Jane Seymour at 45, and on and on. It’s likely these women did IVF and had either use their own eggs frozen years earlier, or used a younger donor egg.
Twins are all the rage in Hollywood, and have been for some time, whether by doing IVF or not, here are some twins that surprised everyone.
After suffering a miscarriage, Mariah Carey – who just congratulated Beyoncé on her impending double bundles of joy – endured fertility treatments and acupuncture, and took progesterone supplements to reduce her chances of having another. She was graced with twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011.

Her publicist denied it, but many suspect that Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder used In-Vitro back in 2005, as Hazel and Phinnaeus’ sexes were announced only nine weeks into the pregnancy. Julia is the proud mom of the now 12-year-olds.

Celine Dion used IVF to conceive all of her children, and has confessed it was not an easy process. She had to go through seven rounds of treatment before getting pregnant with her twin boys, 6-year-olds Nelson and Eddy. Reports say that she was actually carrying triplets, but one died in the womb.

American Horror Story star Angela Bassett and her husband, The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story star Courtney B. Vance, were very public about how their twins came into the world in 2006. They had suffered seven years of failed fertility treatments, including IVF, before choosing to use a surrogate, which resulted in their beautiful children Bronwyn Golden and Slater Josiah.

"Two eggs, two embryos, one of mine, one of his.' That's how Neil Patrick Harris' husband, David Burtka explained to Oprah how their fraternal twins Gideon Scott ahd Harper Grace were born in October 2010.

Ricky Martin also used a surrogate for the birth of his adorable twins Matteo and Valentino, who were born in 2008. When his young children asked if they were once in his belly, he candidly explained how a woman carried them in hers for Ricky, and that the twins “were in my heart and you are still in my heart.”

Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick welcomed their first child James naturally, but the couple used a surrogate for their twins. She explained that they had been trying to expand their family for years to no success. She admitted that it “would be odd to have made this choice if I was able to, you know, have successful pregnancies since my son’s birth.” Marion and Tabitha were born in 2009.

Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins Emme and Max in 2008 with then-husband Marc Anthony, and insisted to the world they did it the old-fashioned way. “We didn't do In Vitro. Everyone assumed that, because we had twins,” she said after their birth. JLo also admitted she suffered from post-partum depression right after their birth.

Angelina Jolie is another actress whose twins, Vivienne and Knox, were conceived naturally. When questioned about whether she and then-partner Brad Pitt had used IVF, she told Hello Magazine, “If they had been conceived through IVF we would have been happy to discuss it. But we have been fortunate never to have had fertility problems.” The twins were born in 2008.

Don't Be Tardy star Kim Zolciak has a whopping six kids, and to date, all seem to have been conceived naturally. Her twins Kaia Rose and baby boy Kane Ren – her fifth pregnancy! – were born in 2005. While she’s visited fertility doctors, Kim has declared she would never freeze or sell her embryos.

And while twins are adorable and loads of fun Dr. Simone says that “twin pregnancy is definitely a high risk pregnancy.”
“You can have an increased risk of miscarriages with twins, increased risk of pre-term labor, increased risk of diabetes, increased risk of pre-eclampsia. Fraternal twins, in other words twins that come from two separate embryos versus an embryo that split, or identical twins-fraternal twins have better outcome and better risk than identical twins.”
