The Clooneys' countdown to TWINMAGEDDON: How George and Amal are preparing for double baby trouble to hit their gilded lives

She's a high-powered human rights barrister who manages to look catwalk-ready wherever she is.
He’s the debonair career bachelor who, until his 50s, said he had no interest in marriage, let alone children.
So to say the world is waiting with bated breath to see how George and Amal Clooney’s lives will change when their twins arrive any day is something of an understatement.

The world is waiting with bated breath to see how George and Amal Clooney’s lives will change when their twins arrive any day
IT’S A BOY — AND A GIRL!
The obsessively private pair have been secretive about their new arrivals, sharing details about their due date and gender with only close friends and confidantes.
But even they can’t be trusted not to let the cat out of the bag. Close friend Cindy Crawford was pictured holding up a pair of tiny baby suits, one with pink lettering and the other blue, apparently confirming that the Clooneys are expecting a girl and a boy. The names Casa and Migos were a tongue-in-cheek reference to George’s Casamigos tequila brand.
Others in the know are family, including proud granny-to-be Nina Clooney, who told how her son and daughter-in-law had visited her in the U.S. to break the news.
‘We were with them and they told us together,’ said Nina, 77. ‘We were all together, and it was lovely.’
PREGNANCY CUES
It was an appearance by Amal, 39, who swapped her usual body-con look for a loose-fitting floral dress at a film screening in January, which sparked the pregnancy rumours. Amal was last seen in March, addressing the UN in New York, and later in London, speaking at Chatham House on war crimes in Iraq and Syria.
As ever, Mrs Clooney was immaculately dressed, wearing a Balmain coat and a vintage red Dior dress.
In just three months, it is estimated that the garments in her maternity wardrobe have topped £168,000.
NO EXPENSE SPARED
The Clooneys bought their Grade II-listed manor house, on a private island on the River Thames, after their wedding in September 2014.
From the start, the nine-bedroom house, which was on the market for £7.5 million, was earmarked as the ideal family home and they spent an estimated £20 million making it perfect.
This included a fence around the waterside property, ensuring it is safer for children.
NESTING IN ENGLAND
Now they’ve got the ideal spot to raise their family, George and Amal aren’t going anywhere. They’ve spent the third trimester of Amal’s pregnancy in England, with both eschewing their busy work schedules.
Last weekend, George sent his apologies to a humanitarian conference in Armenia saying if he missed the birth of his twins ‘he wouldn’t be going home’.
VILLAGE LIFE
George and Amal are fully integrated into village life. George surprised locals with a generous £1,000 donation to the renovation of Dunsden Village Hall. They are likely to be interested in Kingfisher Kindergarten, the venue’s ‘small, friendly, stimulating and happy nursery’ for children aged two to five.
TIPS FROM JULIA
Actress Julia Roberts, a long-time friend of George’s and mother of twins herself (13-year-old Hazel and Phinnaeus), has been on-hand with support.
In a TV appearance she insisted George and Amal ‘are a great couple and they don’t need advice from me or anybody else’.

Favourites for godfather include George’s Ocean movies co-stars, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, both dads with ten children between them. Also in the running is pal Rande Gerber, husband of Cindy Crawford
CHAMPAGNE ON ICE
Although the couple have homes in the U.S. and Italy, they’ve opted to have their twins in London.
The favoured spot is the private Kensington Wing at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where Cheryl Tweedy gave birth to her son Bear in March. There are 14 private suites, with £75 bottles of champagne available to order.
Should Amal need a caesarean, the bill could top £8,500.
HANDS-ON DAD
Hands-on George has pledged to stay with Amal throughout the birth and he’s admitted that he’s not entirely clueless around children. ‘I played a paediatrician on ER, so I know how to work on child extras,’ the actor explained. ‘If there are any accidents, I’m there. I’m the guy.’
NURSE TO THE STARS
The Clooneys’ four-acre estate has outbuildings that could house one or even two nannies.
But sources insist the couple will not be hiring a nanny, just a maternity nurse for the first six weeks, to help get the babies into a sleep routine. They are said to have chosen A-list favourite Rachel Waddilove who has worked with Zara Tindall and Gwyneth Paltrow.
MODERN MUM
Boasting a stellar career dedicated to raising awareness of global human rights violations, Amal is not the sort of woman to give it all up for motherhood.
The barrister has spoken of how she views her glamorous mother, journalist Baria Alamuddin, 69, as ‘a role model’ for managing to maintain both her ‘femininity’ and work-life ‘balance’.
Amal plans to go back to work about six months after the birth, although she will be spending more time at her home office. Baria, who has a house close by, has promised to babysit.
LIKELY GODPARENTS
Favourites for godfather include George’s Ocean movies co-stars, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, both dads with ten children between them. Also in the running is pal Rande Gerber, husband of Cindy Crawford.
As godmother, Amal’s lookalike younger sister Tala is the most obvious choice. Then there’s Julia Roberts.
BRITISH SCHOOLING
Any child of the Clooneys can apply for dual British-American nationality. However, George has been clear he plans to raise his family in the UK for the first few years. He values his wife’s British education. She won a place at Dr Challoner’s, an all-girls’ grammar school in Buckinghamshire, before reading law at Oxford.
WHO’S THE BOSS?
Amal has been calm throughout her pregnancy, while George has been overawed by the prospect of having twins, describing it as an ‘immense responsibility’.
After the birth, friends joke that Amal better get ready to bear the brunt of the work. Matt Damon predicts a steep learning curve for his close friend George.
‘He’ll be great, he’ll be a mess . . . Amal will take care of everything,’ he said.

I remember first finding George and this site, 4 short years ago.... I remember so vividly reading comments on a story in the DM about him filming MM on the UK coast....I remember the comments of kindness, support and well wishes for his movie....Today was different I felt cowered as I read..Today I felt defeated and so sad.....
Time changes everything....

I don't read the comment sections of the tabloids because the majority of people who choose to post say incredibly nasty and vile things about people they don't know anything about. There is a coarseness and meanness in society nowadays that has been perpetuated by social media. The cowardness of anonymity ....

Maybe thinking bad luck before birth? Besides, what on earth could you possibly get these kids that they won't already have? I'm guessing it'll be even harder to find presents for them than it is to find something for their dad. - Hey, maybe that's why Amal got pregnant - it was the only thing she could give George that he didn't have already!

Baby showers are a US thing. I think some Brits do them too nowadays (any excuse to get presents) but it's just not a thing here. Wouldn't surprise me if she didn't do one.

Re: Twinmaggedon by the Mailonline - or what we would call a compilation
On the issue of the comments section. I can only speak for Canada but I can say that a fair number of our major news sources have restricted or eliminated online commenting. Where they haven't been eliminated completely many legitimate online publications require that you register before you can comment. Policing of the comments sections are also far more rigorous than they used to be - you can see this in the number of "removed by moderator" notations.
IMHO it is reasonable and civilized to require that those wish to share an opinion identify themselves. Free speech is not in the least "free" if you are only prepared to speak under the cloak of anonymity or a false identity.
I really think we need to stop accepting this behaviour. And pressure those who facilitate this behaviour (lots including Facebook).
The DM - I confess I love to be able to see the pictures they are able to get. But I have now promised myself I just won't click anymore. Every clink feeds their revenue stream and the corresponding vile outpouring of hate. Just not worth it.
There are way more good people then evil and stupid people.

PP - The thought did cross my mind, but I don't think he'd have been able to keep it a secret. I don't think he'd abandon a child and I can't see any woman who had his child keeping quiet while he married someone else. Even if she agreed, it would probably come out - it's too juicy a story for the "media" to ignore.

Help me with this COH sages... somewhere on this site there is a discussion that they will not have nannies, but a nurse to help get the little tykes into a sleep routine. ( or words to that affect). Soooooooooooo, who's going to give up the career or put it on hold? Can't see Amal trying to comfort 2 crying babies/toddlers while writing a presentation or preparing for a speech at the UN. George carrying a nappy bag to the set and saying "okay my little darlings, you have to be quiet on the set, Daddy has to make a movie". Not be sarcastic or witting ( or lack there of), but seriously.. no nannies????

Re: Twinmaggedon by the Mailonline - or what we would call a compilation
Yup. It was reported in several articles about where Amal was going to give birth - notably IIRC the the crazy report claiming they were going to spend millions on the birth (including flying in a special chef from Italy etc).PigPen wrote:somewhere on this site there is a discussion that they will not have nannies, but a nurse to help get the little tykes into a sleep routine. What they said was that they'd get a night nurse to help get the babies to sleep - although if you ask me, it's more a question of letting the parents go to sleep while someone else gets up 20 times in the night. The reports claimed no nannies although if you ask me, I think they're going to need one once Amal goes back to work and with all the travelling they do.
Two things: these are just reports and nothing that's come from George or Amal so there's no way of evaluating whether this is genuinely their intention or not. Secondly, it may well just be a ruse to stop 50,000 nannies from sending in their CVs. It wouldn't be the first time a celeb said one thing and did another in order to have a quiet life!

Agree Katie. There has only been second hand reports suggesting what George and Amal will do for child help. At this point they have probably gotten lots of advice and have figured out what they need in the short term. Whatever they decide IMO they will do what's best for their children firstly and then figure out how to manage their careers. It will be a learning curve for them.
