George Clooney and Amal Clooney are this close to becoming parents.
As the countdown continues for the arrival of the couple's twins, E! News is learning more about how the pair is gearing up for two babies.
"They're counting down [the days] and pretty much at the edge of their seats," a source shared with us. "Every day, one of them is like, 'It's going to be today. I can feel it' and then it doesn't happen."
Our insider added, "Amal is great. She's healthy, excited and looking forward to becoming a mother. She is taking it very easy. She's officially on maternity leave now."
While one source says the human rights attorney is due "very soon," another source close to the couple says Amal has not needed daily visits from a doctor. Instead, she's just following required checkups.

Unless someone's pregnancy is seriously at risk, does anyone need daily visits from a doctor? And if they were that fragile wouldn't they be in hospital at this point to be sure nothing goes wrong? Saying she hasn't needed daily doctor's visits is silly.

There's no reason to believe that daily visits to their home were necessary at all. I would question the quality of the source and the story itself. I don't know at this late stage of a twin pregnancy how often you visit the OB doctor.
BTW if all is going well in both pregnancies wouldn't Beyoncé be giving birth before Amal? She seems further along in her pregnancy.

I'm worried about them staying in UK or London. There's terrorists around there!
Would be better if Amal gave birth at home. Not possible as it's twins that need doctor's equipment.
Wish Amal a fast&healthy delivery!

Sevens, there could be terrorists anywhere. That's the nature of what they do.
I'm perfectly sure George will take care of all of them! After all, if you think about it their security must be pretty hot given the human rights stuff they're both involved in. And remember that they have relatives living close to whichever hospital they've chosen - that's if they're not already there!
As for doctors' visits, she's more likely to stay in hospital where the appropriate specialists are and then when she gets home district nurses and midwives will pop in.......
Maternity leave in the UK is taken when the mother wants it. Sometimes a few weeks before the birth, sometimes at the last minute (although the mothers must
be getting pretty worn out at that stage). I suspect Amal has been working at home for some time and that people come to see her there.

Re: Amal Clooney is officially on maternity leave - meaning the birth is any day now
Yes, I was wondering about the daily doctor's visit thing too. It's not standard procedure in the UK, although I'm assuming that as a private patient, she'd be getting more than standard treatment.
As a first time (and sorry to day this) "elderly" mother, giving birth to twins, I'm sure she's getting a lot of personal care. As they're famous, they're not really in a position to just pop into the local GP's clinic in Sonning.

What!? Hey Katie! Watch throwing that word "elderly" about! No offense taken ... Really! But I had my second child at age 40 and no one ever called me elderly! Nor did I see myself that way. Then or even now for that matter. I just read an article about how many more women are having children in their 30s than ever before. As long as you are physically healthy, not too overweight, don't have high blood pressure, diabetes or some other exceptional physical condition most women in 30s and 40s have pretty normal pregnancies.

Like it or not, that's the official medical term: the elderly primigravida is defined as a woman who goes into pregnancy for the first time at the age of 35 years or older.
It's not a term I like, but it's the one the medical profession uses . . . I guess because of the increased risks in pregnancy as we get older.

Sorry! Just saw above posts. I believe Katie is right and Amal is considered in a higher risk group due to being over 35 and having twins. I'm sure they have apppropriate care and I am sure there are millions of women who qualify for that and have great outcomes. Wishing them the best. Just tell them not to listen to Cindy Crawford!

Re: Amal Clooney is officially on maternity leave - meaning the birth is any day now
I should have checked my medical chart a bit more closely thirty odd years ago. Wonder if I was labeled as much. If so all my mom friends and I had something in common. Even though it's a medical term it's still a bit of a slap in the face!
That term, elderly primagravida, is really dated too. Being considered as advanced maternal age or high risk for pregnancy at 35 doesn't really apply anymore. There have been so many newer studies on women who get pregnant over 35 that show they are not generally considered in a high risk category after the age of 35. That age used to be the baseline 30 years ago. But advances in medicine and healthier lifestyles have resulted in most women over 35 having relatively healthy pregnancies. There are some increased risks over the age of 35, including chromosomal abnormalities and preexisting medical conditions, but if a woman is generally in good health she should have a healthy pregnancy. Amal being pregnant with twins may increase her risk slightly but if she has been in generally good health she wouldn't need daily visits from her OB for sure.
