It's the final countdown!
In less than a month, Amal Clooney and George Clooney will welcome twins—a boy and a girl. Since The Talk's Julie Chenannounced the barrister's pregnancy in February, Amal has been taking it easy as she continues to advocate on behalf of the Yazidis in Iraq—a cause near and dear to her heart. "Amal is trying not to overexert herself," a source tells E! News exclusively, adding that she'll give birth in London. "She's been very sensible throughout this pregnancy."
After the twins' birth, Amal will begin maternity leave. "She plans to be back at work around six months after giving birth, but her schedule will be greatly different than before," the source says. "A lot of time spent working at home. She has a great office set up at the Sonning house." According to the source, Amal has no intention of quitting the career she's worked so hard for.
And, as E! News previously reported, the Clooneys plan to raise their children in the U.K.

Ahead of the twins' arrival, the source says the couple consulted with Ilse Crawford, a London-based interior designer who focuses on human needs and "has a somewhat holistic approach to design." According to the source, Amal and George waited until she was six months pregnant before they had the twins' nursery decorated, because "they didn't want to rush or jinx things."
The Clooneys chose many of the items themselves. When they visited Paris in February, for example, they bought a few items at a boutique called Baudou and shipped them to the U.K.
The couple has also decided that after the twins come home, they won't hire a live-in or full-time nanny. Instead, they'll have a night nurse to help set a sleeping schedule in the beginning. Amal's mom, journalist Baria Alamuddin, has expressed that she would like to be involved, too.

Amal's final trimester hasn't been all about the babies, of course. As E! News exclusively reported Monday, she orchestrated a surprise 56th birthday party for George; She asked their friends, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, to help her pull it off. "Amal made it a joint birthday celebration," an insider revealed, "since Rande's birthday was just a couple of weeks ago." Both Cindy and Rande shared photos from the celebration via Instagram, but Amal—who's been keeping a low profile—did not appear in any of them. As the insider explained, "Technically her due date is next month, but they expect the twins to come early. It's just a waiting game now."

Cindy and Rande can't wait.
"I'm very excited. Obviously we're fans of parenthood. I think it's incredible for George and it really took Amal, I think, [for him to want to be a dad]," Cindy told E! News' Marc Malkin in March. "She's just so amazing and they're just so happy. It just seemed like a natural next step."
"I'm not sure he'll be changing diapers," Rande joked.
Cindy teased her husband, saying, "By the way, you don't know how to do diapers."
When E! News caught up with George later that month, he promised that he does, in fact, know how to change diapers. "Hang on for a minute! I played a pediatrician on ER, so I know how to work on extra children," the actor explained. "If there are any accidents, I'm there. I'm the guy."

Well we don't know how legitimate the source is but it all sounds pretty reasonable.

Sounds reasonable to me too.  I suspect she may end up taking more than six months' maternity leave in the end, though: two babies is going to be a full time job for sure!

You're right, Lizzy!
Before my twins were born, I'd planned to return to work after two years. In the end I was happy that I was able to do so after 3.5 years...

There are babies who are really easy to handle, sleep a lot and hardly ever cry. And you've got little devils who hardly ever sleep, cry nonstop and keep you busy 24/7. And the whole range inbetween. And twins double the chances...

I hope the part about a night nurse rather than a full-time nanny is true. Kinda puts paid to that earlier article (DM? - I don't remember.) that said they had built nanny's quarters into the renovations.

Agree with your thoughts carol. As much as we plan for having children real life gets in the way. Planning only goes so far. Patience and flexibility are key to maintaining sanity.

Katie I wouldn't be surprised either if Amal takes more time off from work the first year. Although working from home will be an advantage the babies will be incredibly demanding of her and George's time. But I bet she and George will figure out a schedule when each of them can do work at home while the other is caring for the twins ....

My guess is that it's likely that they've booked the Lindo Wing in London for the birth. I'd also guess that she's booked in for a caesarian, not just because she's too posh to push but because twin births can be hard and I think both of them seem so controlling that just waiting for the babies to come when they want rather than scheduling a particular time and date doesn't seem like them. But I can be completely wrong of course.

I would think that the stories about special foods being flown in and twin nannies were just wild speculation by the 'journalist' who wrote that article because entertainment news writers seem to like that kind of stuff.

I think the 'where and when' may depend on where her consultant practises.....one thing's for sure. It won't be a home birth!

Not unless it's all gone horribly wrong, PAN! At least she's got Dr Doug Ross to look after her!

  Somehow, I don't think he'd be much help! I can see him running around like a headless chicken, yelling "Where are my keys? Where's the car? What am I supposed to do? Aaagh!!!!!!!!!!" .... while Amal calmly catches a cab to the hospital...

Whole story now featured on Celebitchy.......with added bitchy bits, naturally.

I still think these two will just want to get on with it together, much like their name-choosing attitude - and I still think George will be completely hands-on, and probably be really emotional and want to help as much as possible and be there for the three of them.......

I have to keep reminding myself that any day now, we’re going to get news of Beyonce’s babies and the Clooney babies. Which set of twins are you more excited about? I think the Clooney twins will be more exciting long-term, just because of the narrative of “Perpetual Bachelor George Clooney becomes a first-time father.” But I’m very excited about Bey’s babies too. Anyway, E! News has an update on the situation with the Clooney Babies. Some details:

You guys know me, I don’t have a strong opinion about nannies and night nurses and whatever. If you can afford it and you’re honest about it, I say why not? Get a night nurse. Get a pack of nannies. Just don’t claim that you’re doing everything by yourself and that you are the most perfect earth mother to ever mother-superior (which Amal hasn’t done… yet?). As for the rest of it… while I knew that George had bought that huge property in Britain, I guess I didn’t realize that George was devoted to the idea of moving full time to Britain and raising his kids there. Friends in London have all had a Doula....It's very "IN" to have a Doula these days....and we all know how Mama likes to be "IN".....

Course you can't get better than an Irish nanny, who can cook and clean....with great legs.....Just saying.....
