Re: The definitive George and Amal Clooney baby thread
The Cesars stuff has it's own thread under GC news, Jo.
The announcement about Goeorge getting an honorary Cesar went out ahead of the fact that Roman Polanski was head of the voting panel.
Then there was a change of heart after lots of protests and he was replaced, and then the honour got confirmed. Personally I couldn't see George accepting the award with him in place.
We will see if he turns up now, won't we? Not so sure about Amal........

It is unbelievable. I agree that it wasn't but four years ago that we, and probably George, could ever imagine a day like this would come. The saying "never say never" truly applies here.
Seems likely that George may comment about all of this at the Cesar awards.
BTW did you ever get your Casamigos?
Hello !!! Oh yeas !!! It really hit me !! lol
Sorry for not being around.... I´m busy and I was only checking Les Frenchies... for latest news. I have to catch up and save many photos yet. I don´t know when I will get time to do it.
For this kind of news I like to be here Where people understand what you feel and think.
I got a mini bottle of Casamigos while I was in NY couple of monhts ago and I should have bought another one because I dont want to open this one
Questions:
Do you think they are gonna sell the pregnancy photos or babies first photos to a mag? Instead of letting the paparazzis takethe photos and sell them? As long as I think, I´m sure they don´t want to sell their babies life, I think they are gonna be "forced" to do it in order to not let the paparazzis get the exclusive.
Do you think Amal is now travelling from Europe to USA? They were in Barcelona, George went o KY alone... maybe she is staying in London? I don´t know until what month pregnant women are allow to fly.

Re: The definitive George and Amal Clooney baby thread
They can fly up until the 36th week after that they shouldn't fly.
I think they will release a picture to the press themselves.
If not then they might pick a magazine and give the money to charity. Either way is fine with me just so the paps
don't get that first shot.
The security for this birth will be crazy hopefully everyone will respect their privacy.

And both families must be ecstatic. Especially Nick and Nina. After all these years. I wonder if they thought there was an outside chance he would meet someone who could change his whole thinking on love and commitment.

Re: The definitive George and Amal Clooney baby thread
I think they will protect their children as much as possible, and I think having houses in different locations around the world will really help - and given that they have offices in all of their homes must help too.
In the last couple of months most things they've done have had minimum pre-publicity - and I reckon that will continue. Who knew that they were in LA for New
Year, then London, Davos and Barcelona for events until after or during the event?
One major red carpet guaranteed towards the end of 2017 and possibly a Cesar appearance this month......
George is very good at managing these things.......and I think there's an article in People tonight about them 'nesting' in London, and the Mailonline tracked down Baria to a specialist bookshop........

Re: The definitive George and Amal Clooney baby thread
Ok, Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but I feel that this has gotten way less publicity so far (maybe it will change or actual birth will be different) than the wedding. For ex. no photos of the parents to be on the 50 pages of news feed on my browser. But there is one of Kourtney Kardashian without pants. Is George less of an interesting topic? Does romance sell, but diapers don't?

Here are two very different articles.
One explaining that Amal will get a year's paid maternity leave. Not at all unusual in the UK. Teachers get 52 weeks, the first month of which is on full pay, then 90% and so on down to 50% later on although I think it continues to decrease, which is why people try to plan around the school holidays

Re: The definitive George and Amal Clooney baby thread
So let's talk names! I LOOOOOVE discussing baby names, and I found this article on Nameberry with suggestions for George and Amal.
Twin Baby Names: Our advice for for the stars
Congratulations to the Clooneys!
Posted February 10th, 2017
Last week, it was Beyonce and Jay Z. Then Madonna announced her adoption. Now it’s George and Amal. High profile families everywhere are announcing their happy news, times two.
Naming twins offers double the opportunity to use your favorite names, but it also multiplies the potential challenges. Rhyming pairs like Stacey and Tracey, Phil and Bill are (hopefully) a thing of the past. Instead, parents should seek to balance both names, creating a harmonious pair. After all, that’s exactly what most parents would wish for the twins themselves!
Here’s our best advice for Amal, Beyonce, and any other parents facing this happy challenge.
Avoid names that are too close. Emma and Emmett, Freddie and Teddy, or Lily and Rose all seem much too cute together, and likely to cause confusion. Sharing a first initial can work, assuming the names are clearly distinct, but different-initial names might be best approach.
Play fair with family names. If you’d always planned to name a son after your dad, make sure that his twin has a family name, too. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie–Pitt are a great example – his first comes from dad’s side, while her middle honors her maternal grandmother.
Consider gender. Today parents often prefer to choose names they love without considering gender. But twins named Mason and Logan – when Mason is a girl and Logan a boy – might cause more confusion that it’s worth. Harper and Logan make a better pair.
Keep the style consistent. Arabella and Nathaniel are great together. So are Jax and Paisley. But twins named Jax and Arabella? That’s a mismatch. One is short and modern; the other, elaborate and storied. They don’t sound like siblings, and certainly not like twins.
Link via meaning. If you are eager to connect your children’s names, consider a subtle approach. Shared meanings make duos like Zoe and Liv – both mean life – especially appealing. Word is that Madonna’s twins are named Esther and Stella, another good example of the approach.
Keep both names equally familiar/out-there. Bold baby names are great, but if one daughter is Ophelia, her twin probably shouldn’t be Abigail. The opposite is true, too. Jensen Ackles is dad to twins Zeppelin and Arrow, two names equally out-there.
And now, some names for George and Amal to consider. Word is that they’re expecting a daughter and a son, so we’re focusing on girl-boy combinations.
Ada & Zaid – His sister and her half-bro’s names.
Augusta & Hugh – He graduated from Augusta High School in Kentucky; she earned her undergraduate degree from St. Hugh’s College, Oxford.
Constance & Granger – Constance is a virtue name, just like Amal, which means hope. Granger is an occupational surname for a farmer. George means farmer, too.
Eleanor & William – Traditional, even elegant choices.
Lexi & Bay – Short for their birthplaces – Lexington, Kentucky and Beirut, Lebanon.
Noor & Sharif – Traditional Arabic names to honor mom’s roots.
Paola & Massimo – The famous couple married in Venice, Italy, so perhaps they’ll choose romantic, Italian names for their children.
Rosemary & Nicholas – Two names from the Clooney family tree – his aunt, singer Rosemary, and father, Nicholas.
Sonia & Damon – She clerked for future Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayer; his BFF is Matt Damon.

UK peeps: How does citizenship in the UK work? Automatic if one parent is a citizen, regardless of birthplace (like US), or does the child have to be born in the UK? Curious because if I were them, and looking at the state of the US right now, I might want my kids to have a dual citizenship, just in case.

Yes. US citizenship is automatic regardless of birthplace if one of the parents is a US citizen. At least for now; that's one of the things the Trump administration would like to change.

So Baria was seen days before the baby news broke, but this didn't become a story until then. Fortunately Baria has absolutely no other grandchildren .
I don't know about the Ladybug books but all Enid Blyton books are for older children and weren't right for newborn babies.

I don't know how the system in the UK works, because I'm British and was born here. But it has occurred to me that George may be considering dual passports!
Ah, Baria should have come to me for those books. I feel as if I have a million of them! No doubt Peter Rabbit will also be on the list - and Winnie the Pooh.
I suspect her specialists are in London and that's probably where she'll have the babies........
Ps Enid Blyton original copies - and the Ladybird ones come to that - are valuable now, and she has two twin boys to buy for too

I loved The Star article. LOL. The idea of living our fantasies out vicariously through those we admire is a wonderful pastime. Ahhh
I think the children will have dual citizenships too. We don't know where her OB/GYN is located but most likely that's where the babies will be born. I think PAN is right in saying London.
Who said Baria wasn't a grandmother? She is.
My joy for George and Amal is still in overdrive! I'm so happy for them.
